Thanks for the video, I hope it is better than its predecessor G-RX8 , I had endless signal issues on three of my receivers. Could you please do a range test in the new version.
I really like the OTA options. One of my pet hates with the G-RX8 was having to bind with a jumper to enable PWM on channels 7 and 8 (default was SBUS). This is much better. I think I might get the GR6 for my Magnus, as that is a tight build, and the less I have to mess about with the Rx after its been installed, the better.
I andrew, i'm a real fan of your channel and because of you :-) ,i bought asw28,phoenix 2400 and radiomaster TX16S.about this radio, is this receiver (archer) compatible with radiomaster ,i'm lost with protocol access or accst. I want to implement vario and lipo sensor on phoenix.what i have to do ? thanks for answer and have good flight eric
Thanks Eric. Multi protocol radios dont include ACCESS but they do include ACCST V1 and V2, so you should go for an ACCST receiver with S-Port. I have done a video on TS16S, vario and Lipo sensor.
What's the key difference between the Archer GR8 and the G-RX8 receiver besides OTA? They're both full range, and both offer variometer. They even cost the same. The Archer is physically bigger and heavier. So why even bother getting an Archer compared to a G-RX8?
hi Andrew love your videos i find them very help full when setting up my Taranis qx7 access i was wondering if you have done anything on the archer plus r8 receiver as i am having trouble with setting up the Gyro stabilisation any help would be gratefully received
Waited over a month for the receiver to arrive. I have the Taranis x9d plus se access and it won’t bind to the receiver, it won’t even register. Please help, Frsky has made it so frustratingly difficult on their new products.
Nice video! Love this stuff. One question. Is the variometer more accurate than the stock FC variometers (i think most commonly bmp280 from matek f4 and f7)?
Andrew, im about to get into gliders and u have many videos out there by yourself which are great. I will buy the Taranis qx7 access transnitter, phoenix 2000 , ranger 2000.... which receuver do u recommend and other hardware?
Just got a Taranis Q X7 ACCESS myself, great radio! This GR8 receiver would be perfect for gliders or the GR6 for saving weight and tight spaces. Lipo sensor would be useful too. Comfy folding chair for when you hook those never ending thermals.
just asking is it normal that this reciever wont bind tried everithing to update the firmware not able to tried everithing i know to bind nothing whats wrog if i plug it into the trensmitter i get the firmware infos and more its just a shit sry for that

I have 2 of the original GR8 and both have horrible telemetry range. Drops out maybe 40-50m out with rssi at 74-78. Pushed one out at least 500m with a rsxr satellite for baclup so actual control range is ok, however very annoying to not get to use the vario function beyond 40-50m. Binded them to both an qx7 and x9lite. Maybe I'll try one of these unless there is a way to feed the telemetry into the rsxr through smartport

Sorry... I refuse to use the non-compatible FrSky Access protocol products. FrSky are trying to lock us out of their other protocols we've already heavily invested in.... Nah
@@AndrewNewton What I meant was that the new ACCESS protocol Transmitters are not backward compatible with the older FrSky protocols that many many people have already invested in. It's like FrSky is abandoning all it's previous loyal customers to sell this Access Only system.
Pro: That looks like a great system for a glider.
Con: Just the GR8 receiver costs more than my FS-i6X Transmitter with receiver!
Ha, yes there is that
Great Glider reciever, right shape and features...I don't have an Access X9D though..
That's it. The thing I've been waiting for.
And, as always for something R/C I want, NO STOCK
I just ordered two from "Next FPV". Shipping as I write this.
Thanks for the video, I hope it is better than its predecessor G-RX8 , I had endless signal issues on three of my receivers. Could you please do a range test in the new version.
My original work fine. I think there was a bad batch of G-RX8s. This one is ACCESS only
I'm surprised that you don't have an Archer SR6 or Archer SR8 Pro video

I'm only just starting to understand OTA, it actually is very convenient.
Have got the older gx6 in the uglider.
Great receiver. This would be a good upgrade
As long as you have an ACCESS radio

Hi Russell. The R8 isn't a gyro stabilised receiver as far as I know. Needs to be the S series?
Waited over a month for the receiver to arrive. I have the Taranis x9d plus se access and it won’t bind to the receiver, it won’t even register. Please help, Frsky has made it so frustratingly difficult on their new products.
Might need to update receiver and Taranis RF module to the latest firmware from the FrSKY download page.
u saved my flightday, many thanks
u r awesome
Glad to hear that
Nice video! Love this stuff. One question. Is the variometer more accurate than the stock FC variometers (i think most commonly bmp280 from matek f4 and f7)?
Much more accurate according to the specs. 0.1m resolution for GR8 and 1.0m for BMP280

There is a way through inav-crossfire
@@quilllooo Thanks but I'm not using crossfire or inav on this model. Just a lightweight glider
Something is not right. I have had my original up to 400m with no problems.
Agree - have not had any such problems with mine. I get normal range with mine.

Is there a mini version of this with various but just four channel for dlg?
There's a tiny 6ch version.
Have been using my G-RX6 on my Radian with Jumper T16 with absolutely no issues at all, I don't understand this new one?
Stick with what works for you. No need to buy every new release.
How would this differ from the G-RX6 Vario other than channels an OTA?
Better range and vario accuracy, 2 more channels, channel mapping, OTA firmware and binding, different shape, different antenna routing.
Can this Tx/Rx send sailplane battery voltage as well as variometer? (I'm new to this!} Thanks Andrew.
No, you would also need a Lipo sensor. th-cam.com/video/KOjiwb8fm_E/w-d-xo.html
will my older Taranis Plus Tx work with this receiver?
Nope, only TXs with the newer ISRM chips can use ACCESS
Do you know the weigth of this receiver without plastic box\body?
Not really. Guess about 6g
@@AndrewNewton Thanks! Have ordered it on ali:)
Please Can someone say if this receiver can work with helicopters too or only in gliders?
No idea about heels sorry
nice battery
Can you use this with non Access radios?
No, no ACCST firmware for the Archer series.
what is the range of that receiver?
More than 2k according to the specs
Will this work with jumper tx ?
no...
Is there any Vario for flysky i6?
Altitude sensor only
I thought the binding was supposed to be simpler
The binding is, just that you have to register first
@@AndrewNewton But why register? Seems redundant. It comes down to being another step that really is not making a difference.
I would buy it if it were Accst. Since it is Access I’m not interested.
There is also an ACCST version
