They commented way back about how they are having to do this with a lot of OW sculpts. Mark of Chaos 3 words that bring back so much love for the setting of Warhammer Fantasy. I never played the video game, but when I started collecting and playing WFB in 7th edition, the masterpiece which is the cinematic trailer of Mark of Chaos, is really what cemented the WoC in my brain. Yes the new Slaves to Darkness models are incredibly dynamic and detailed. However, when a warrior priest and a patrol of state troops finds themselves surrounded in a forest, it is not extremely dynamically posed monsters of armour and death that come charging at them, but a slow and inevitable force akin to a flood, which one may believe to be able to outrun but cannot escape. For me, the models that speak to such an incredibly devastating force of nature, is the slow marching models that have returned, they are the ones who bring on the age of reckoning. They are the ones which I have been patiently waiting for, to meet my Empire army on the field of battle. However new or old, one thing is certain, we cannot undo the gathering storm of chaos, For Chaos, marks us all.

Men changing into animals has always been a specifically Chaos related thing, as demonstrated by the WFRP 1st edition adventure 'The Howling Season' featuring a werewolf villain changed after spending too much time around the unholy site where a band of Tzeentchian werewolves were slain at the time of Magnus the Pious, and Beorg Bearstruck and the Bearmen of Urslo, a 5th edition WFB Dogs of War unit made up of Norscan warriors who worship Chaos. Also I'm pretty sure the 3rd edition WFB Army Book has ulfwereners for Norsca, even though they didn't worship Chaos back then, but because they were so close to the Chaos Wastes were more prone to stable mutations. And that's all overlooking the obvious, Beastmen and Skaven, which are animal men who were created by and serve Chaos. I think with popular culture we imagine the Wolfman and Dracula hanging out a lot, and put werewolves with the Undead, but there's no real mythological reason to do so, which is probably why early Warhammer writers sorted them toward Chaos.
Those chaos ogres, dear lord :D hahaha. As you said, there's probably many, MANY people out there rocking those nostalgia goggles who are like "Finally... my time has come" Or you could buy the Ogroid Theridons from AoS, they rank up, I've tested it for science.
It's good to see GW being honest about the new minis and cool to see popular FW minis being included in the release. I agree GW could manage ToW information better think they're being clever keeping ToW to the side. The stores couldn't cope with ToW being a core product and GWs lack of focus is really providing a space for you and others to build/support the community. The community feels much stronger than anytime in WH history.
I also agree with you, in my opinion, Age of Sigmar Slaves to Darkness Warrior of Chaos models are much better. Specially the Knights. I love the Warriors at foot, but I suspect I'm going to struggle trying to rank them in the formation, because they're much more dynamic.
I’m the guy who was delighted at the return of that Chaos Sorcerer on Chaos Steed 😂 Love that model and need a new one but struggling to get one complete on eBay.
I love how easy it's becoming to sell this game to friends, just off the price point alone. Made a list from this box where I maximised the points from this across most of the units, including running 5 knights as chosen and then adding 3 characters from khagras list as a bunch of characters including a chaos lord and sorcerer lord and you've literally got 2k points for £136 (£110 from third party) Is it a good list? Maybe not at tournaments, but you'll be able to play a full sized game, get a feel for it and hopefully have fun for a price that literally wouldn't get you 500pts of 40k, it's wild and I love it so fucking much
Skin-wolves were a chaos Norsca thing. As it's a special ocasion mutation in norscan tribe. When certain marauder kissed by Morslieb, start to grow inside, tearing his old skin and muscles away, revealing giant beast, only in a sunlight or when he struggles to supress himself, he tear his new wolf form revealing human underneath. That's why they have skin patches on models, that's their old skin
I agree with Rob that the AOS models are soooooo much nicer. However, they are also a lot more expensive (generally, obviously don’t have the prices for these yet). My solution is to use the nice AOS guys in the first rank or two and bulk out the unit with the cheaper and easier to rank TOW models. I’ve done it with the Chaos Chosen with a couple of unit fillers to make an absolute titan of a unit. Will do that with the Marauders, using Darkoath or Warcry models to be the pretty boys up front.
Crazy thing is the new terrain doesn't have a tab or easy to find link on their webstore. Only one of the new release links led to it, and I initially only could find it through the community preview article.
I am happy for the old knight because i will get a box for my AoS s2d. Perfect arms, heads and shoulder armor for kitbash. It will be put to good use....
These Chaos Warriors are some of the newest models in The Old World range.... when I looked at them I was like aren't these the current AoS ones..... I was out of the hobby pre-7th so I missed these relasing. But I'd say they're during a period where GW was really upping design so I'd deffo be stoked on them.
The rerelease of Warriors of Chaos is great, I am a bit bummed that there isn't a single new model but we did get the Warpfire Dragon in return (I feel). Looking forward to the book. I will use the StD AoS range largely for my Chaos army but I will also use the older Marauder Horsemen.
The Resin Forgeworld uses now IS VERY GOOD. The details are crisp and it's actually feels more durable.. BUT it is still resin not metal or plastic. The Warpfire Dragon is from the Monstrous Arcaneum book.
Norsca, vampire coast, malekith and mannfred/ vlad von carstein are all day one buys. Wonder if they will add the mammoth one day to truly field a norscan horde
Yes, shout out to the current GW resin minis. I bought the orc bsb and boss, clenched when I opened expecting fine cast. Was pleasantly surprised how good the prints are. I bought the fw chaos dwarfs years ago and I don’t think they were this good.
I would like for dogs of war to get a complete redo (same units/new models). I know its a nostalgia game for old sculpts but I think theyre perfect for it..a little bit of everything & the story setting is down nearby their countries.
I for one am hoping to get more ways to use my khorne juggernauts as something other than aspiring champs with mark of khorne on chaos mounts. 25:50 the skin wolves were norsca back when
37:57 no way they will be available anytime soon. Dwarfs were shown off in March remember? And only went up for preorder at the end of July. I admire your optimism, but no. This will be Oktober/November at the earliest. I'd love to be wrong, I really do in this case. But I don't see it happening Edit: lol right after I posted this you said this. I really hope you are right, give me more armies! Give me more lore! I'd love to spend all my money on this game. Love the old models. And yeah, for AoS I prefer the new Chaos warriors. But for this? Give me that huge block of lockstep shields. They are perfect! I do really agree with you that blocks of infantry should be the focus, not a lvl4 wizard and OP lord on Dragon(equivalent). It shouldn't be Hero hammer, imo. I'd love some Beastmen and Wood Elves. GIMME!!
Some rumours I read say there will be a second release after this one of two waves with a brand new Special character model and a kit, didn't understand if brand new, of Chaos Dragon (couple of heads, yeap).
Its weird that the Dragon Ogres are repainted red here. I went and checked the photos printed in the books and they are still green there. Also they show the plastic spawn and plastic Daemon Prince in there, so I hope the latter is still coming.
I’m so pumped for WOC. My first fantasy army was the old Mortals/Hordes of chaos from 5th or 6th edition, when those plastic warriors first came out. I played 2k using 40 chosen slaanesh warriors with great weapons and shields (back when it made sense 😆) Supported by the (sadly missing from this release) Slaanesh Lord on steed of slaanesh, and a ton of heroes in the big unit and a bunch of chariots to support. It was excellent, filled with great memories and I can’t wait to do it all over again!
The Legacyzation of the VC, Skaven, Lizardmen and Ogres look so much like stupid internal conflict. You can have an almost fully fleshed out army with the AoS range. Doubly so with the launch of AoS4 full of new sexy skavens. They could have easily said: "We support these armies, they'll get that Arcane Journal but we won't do the vintage release, please just buy the AoS stuff." And voilà!
they don't want it to do well because its not woke, thats why 40k is getting shittier models too. They want to push age of sigmarxism to the max because its woke corporate trash they can get diversity funds for.

Well I guess I’m collecting another army now…..
Credit card in hand, i am ready. Gonna ally in my Legends Daemons too
Sweet - cheers for the emergency show, I didn't know yet. Made my day better
The biggest problem with the Dragon Ogre Shaggoth model is that we know what they COULD look like thanks to Total War.
Yep. Shaggoths look badass in game but look wimpy in model.
The wonderful thing about the battalion is that is 1340 pts of slaves to darkness for AoS. Yes they are older sculpts, but far more cheaper
You're thinking of the lord of nurgle and the harbinger of decay
Norsca, vampire coast, malekith and mannfred/ vlad von carstein are all day one buys. Wonder if they will add the mammoth one day to truly field a norscan horde
Yes, shout out to the current GW resin minis. I bought the orc bsb and boss, clenched when I opened expecting fine cast. Was pleasantly surprised how good the prints are. I bought the fw chaos dwarfs years ago and I don’t think they were this good.
I would say infantry is good. It depends in which army but some use a lot of it. Lizardmen, dwarfs. Chorfs, O&G etc.
Def picking up the new battalion will prob see double duty in AoS and Old World! Armies of renown sound dope!
THE EMERGENCY SHOW!!!! Town bells ring, priests of ulric stop from their prayers, somewhere in Altdorf a mad sage cries HE COMES!!! before expiring.
The best thing about Heroquest is the Dwarf!
Thumbs up from an old guy who loves terrible old metal minis.
The irony just when these are coming out I’m selling a old chaos army deal with a siege cannon which hasn’t been touched
I would like for dogs of war to get a complete redo (same units/new models). I know its a nostalgia game for old sculpts but I think theyre perfect for it..a little bit of everything & the story setting is down nearby their countries.
One simple fix would bring infantry back - scenarios and scoring,
literally just playing WITH a tower that is mann-eable, and maybe making buildings able to be occupied, will immediately buff infantry alot
those ogres and trolls are the best things in this release. The old models had way more charator.
The most CHAOTIC intro from you guys yet!
But I don't see it happening
Edit: lol right after I posted this you said this.
GIMME!!
Yeah I hope they don’t come too soon I’m running out of space to hide new Old World boxes from my wife
I just realized that Val is the perfect person to play The Joker!
Some rumours I read say there will be a second release after this one of two waves with a brand new Special character model and a kit, didn't understand if brand new, of Chaos Dragon (couple of heads, yeap).
Real Old School is BACK !
Yeah, new FW resin stuff is crisp AF.
Its weird that the Dragon Ogres are repainted red here. I went and checked the photos printed in the books and they are still green there.
Also they show the plastic spawn and plastic Daemon Prince in there, so I hope the latter is still coming.
The old whfb metal DOs were usually portrayed with red bodies. They can look good red, green or grey IMO.
I’ve seen a really nice blue as well which I think works with a greyer or orange flesh tone
i’ll be using STD on square bases for this. glad to see more fully fleshed out armies
I’m so pumped for WOC. My first fantasy army was the old Mortals/Hordes of chaos from 5th or 6th edition, when those plastic warriors first came out.
I played 2k using 40 chosen slaanesh warriors with great weapons and shields (back when it made sense 😆)
Supported by the (sadly missing from this release) Slaanesh Lord on steed of slaanesh, and a ton of heroes in the big unit and a bunch of chariots to support.
It was excellent, filled with great memories and I can’t wait to do it all over again!
Was hoping for a Norsca based army of infamy and a more cultist-focused or mono-god, welp, at least one is given
The Legacyzation of the VC, Skaven, Lizardmen and Ogres look so much like stupid internal conflict.
Given that they have updated the building of other models I think they will update the hell cannon.
I’m guessing with WoC coming out the next army will be Empire!
Me. I am fired up I can buy these models again.
I'm excited to see elves and empire
Totally agree with Val about the complete lack of hype from GW for old world
The 6 month window is over. HH got the same treatment.
@mogwaiman6048 HH Is just space marines squared though. It's probably much harder to sell multiple armies to players.
they don't want it to do well because its not woke, thats why 40k is getting shittier models too. They want to push age of sigmarxism to the max because its woke corporate trash they can get diversity funds for.
@@markysgeeklab8783 How could you tell?
@@markysgeeklab8783 it's more than just space marines. People will also buy more than one space marine army like they do in 40k.
