@@SquareBasedOldWorld anything you put out right now is a huge mental boost for a dad with 3 on his evening strolls with the stroller in the cold dark of northern Sweden haha. Keep up the good work!

You really explain this stuff well. I've had 2 boxes each of knights, warriors and hounds sitting in my closet for the last decade. Mostly because of your videos, I'm finally getting motivated to put them together (on the new bases, thank god) and paint them.
This was a dangerous watch… My FIRST WHFB army was a mortals of chaos, slaanesh force with a big block of 40 chosen warriors of slaanesh, great weapons and shields. Lots of fun in my teenage years back in 5/6th Then the day the killed the old world, I’d JUST finished spraying a Tzeentch WOC army… sad times. But I also have a Krondys brand new on sprue under my desk, who’s begging to be a chaos dragon 👀😅
The format of these videos is just perfect and your (and Val's) passion for the Old World is really contagious. I am now looking forward to the follow up. Maybe a video for each faction on army ideas + mini ranges to put them on the table?
Already made a start! Not sure what to do with the chosen, i saw a box for a decent price and couldn't resist, but they really are big detaily boys. If i didn't already have a couple of foot heroes they might have been perfect though, kinda like what you can potentially do with some of the Warcry/Underworlds/Elite AoS stuff for other armies.
This was so informative and it answered a bunch of my questions but it raised so many more! I thought this was the dumb dumb smash army but it looks like there are a million and one ways to build, equip and mark your units. Looking forward to finally putting together my Slaves to Darkness boxes and starting an Old World Warriors of Chaos army. Thanks Rob!
These army reviews are the best on TH-cam. Very well considered, concise and useful. I’m subscribing! Thanks and hope to see the Dwarven Holds one soon.
WoC look so fun, great sandbox army. Building up the Beastmen Vanguard box right now. Thanks for the overview videos they have been a nice insight into the different factions. Looking forward to the Beastie Boyz overview.
Great video as always. Your enthusiasm for the Chaos boys really comes through - I think you are salivating at the prospect of that Chaos Lord on Dragon 😂
Another great army overview, looking forward to the Beastman one as I've been build a Beastman army in anticipation of the Old World for the last 6 months or so
My favorite idea for warriors is a tzeentch brick with lots of wizards in it using the skull of katam. Skull+mark of tzeentch means all the wizards would get +2 to cast on top of their base wizard level, and you can buy spell familiars to get an extra spell on each of them. With steed of shadows from demonology you could move the unit around pretty freely and vomit out an insane amount of casts. Terribly expensive, but sounds fun.
@@Inthrylius In 6th &7th you could join with all characters, aslong as they had a basesize of up to a cavalry base. Risky though, as 1 bad combat round could wipe that full unit of the table. Would not recommend.
You must have as many normal unit models in the front rank as characters, so I'd you're 4 or 5 wide, you have 2 characters, 6 or 7, 3 and so on. Probably rarely a good idea to run more than 2 anyway and even 2 is a lot outside armies like empire where they have lots of cheap characters who provide buffs and utility.
Goblins can possibly get away with it to. But really make sure you got some good LD. It sucks to lose a 600 pt unit because of a single Panic, terror or casualty test. Possibly GG. @@chad4858
Very impressive presentation again. If I ever field my Chaos army (Dwarfs will be first) it will look like what it is which is something out of 3rd Edition. We'll have to agree to disagree about where Beastmen ought to be seen as they'll be there as allies and I guess there will be a Daemon Prince of Khorne - almost certainly completely the wrong way to run one - so I can use my 80s Bloodthirster. Thugs for Marauders, a hound handler to slow my hounds down as I love and have the model etc. So not competitive at all, but I really enjoyed the rundown and good to get a first idea of what sort of things others might be looking to do with the list.
Remember that flaming attacks only bypass regeneration if the target has flammable, that makes the tzeentch mark very narrow. Good job with this videos btw
As a potential Old World player, I would love to see a sample army list at the end of this kind of video. Please give us some inspiration lists as we're in the process of wrapping our heads around the game. I'd love to see the difference between a 1,000 point list and a 2,000 point list. (Beyond the units themselves, I'd love to see how a "veteran" player upgrades their units. What does an elite unit of Chaos Knights "need" for their upgrade bells and whistles? Etc etc.)
For the love of the dark gods, thank you so much for this! I am soooo incredibly pumped for TOW, and you guys are partially and thankfully to blame! Now let the Chaos begin!
Beautiful video, very informative and nice editing and explanation. Love the enthusiasm!❤ A constructive criticism is; I would have included the enhancements too (arcane items, magic items, weapons like runesword and armour here in the video too). To see as player what they do :).
Really liking the idea of taking both a Hellcannon and an allied Cygor at 1,999pts- primarily to add another source of decent ranged firepower- and also to seriously mess up some mages!
Great video and really helpful to see snap shots of the stats and your thoughts on combos or using certain units within the game. Eagerly await further videos, consider me hooked!
Let's go! So much stuff I want to theorycraft and try out on the table, it's going to be difficult to not end up with nearly all of my points spent on three units hahaha Great video, and one I'm definitely going to be rewatching a few more times
Thank you Rob. Been waiting for this! AoS chaos warriors with their flowing capes still need careful positioning on the 30mm bases to ensure they can be ranked up.
Great overview. Curious about chaos and love the kitbashing potential but with 4 current old world army projects I'll leave this one for the moment. They do like they are gonna be tough.

I'm glad I never finished my Slaves to Darkness army for AOS because now it looks like I'm sold on getting some square bases and playing them in the Old World.
These vids have got my nostalgia-sense tingling. Not sure I'm ready to take the plunge just yet, but it might be time to see if I can make some movement trays for the round bases I already have. My only tiny complaint is that every time you use the term 'economies of scale' I'm left worried that my understanding of that phrase is different to yours. Economies of scale are cost advantages that come with doing a lot of one thing. So for example, if I cook one portion of chips or 20 portions of chips, I might still be using the same amount of power to get my fryer hot, and the same amount of oil, and hence have economies of scale on my cost per portion of chips. I'm not quite sure how we get economies of scale in TOW. I guess if we had a buff piece that gave all Nurgle Warriors a better save, and we were only running it for that buff, then once we have it, we might as well have lots of Nurgle Warriors, to spread the cost of the buff? Now, back to me watching the video, and trying to forget my economics degree :)
Almost finished painting my S to D army for AoS and I have a 4th edition Warhammer Fantasy Chaos army too. Not sure I will be able to resist a 3rd army of Chaos warriors
Really good content. Given me loads to think about. Thank you! I feel like the mark of Slaanesh is a bit lacklustre compared to the others which is a real shame as the new daemon prince model looks incredible with the Slaanesh head!
In 8th I loved running champions on Disc O Tzeentch. They were really cheap and all they needed was a great weapon to really cause some problems in the back line. No discs in Old World (fingers crossed for the future) so maybe time to look at chariots 🤔
I can't wait to get this army on the table. I'm an old school Lizardmen player and decided to build an army in the Ravening Hordes book. I'm building my Warriors of Chaos with the new kits and it looks awesome. I can't wait to get some Lords on monstrous mounts and go slap into combat with bricks of dudes.
I've been looking at some of the oldest models I own and thinking how they couid be rolled into some very old school looking units of Thugs/Maraduers to back up a few points sink units. I'm very tempted.
I think with the changes to how magic works I might finally have to abandon Mono-Khorne and embrace the the Inner Nurgle Caster.. As excited as I am to smash units of Knights into puny mortals, I am worried about what we'll do against the elite of other armies without Step Up! Most of our units don't seem to have weapons that let us fight in extra ranks, and maybe I just played against Ogres too much in 8th but even with our toughness there are definitely things out there that can chew us up and spit us out.
Thanks for this, it is very helpful to get a head start - noted the Chaos Warriors show as being WS5 and the Champion WS4 so not sure if both WS4 or WS5 was for the Champion.
I think showing example pictures of the models would really help me understanding which unit you’re referencing, I don’t know a lot of them by name 😅 I am loving your content though!
A brilliant and concise primer with very little fat on it, good things man! Although it still makes me twitch when I hear Khorne + Wizard. I think the lore can give way for the multi option Chaos, so much scope with the marks. Shame they got rid of the flesh hounds, super fast magic immune skirmish units were fun.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the virtues of Warhounds. Can they be used to manipulate enemy units like in the past? IIRC, in some previous editions, chargers would 'align to the facing of the unit charged.' This meant that worthless screening units (like hounds) could be angled to redirect incoming enemies. Knights which had been charging straight ahead were forced to veer off to the left or right in order to "line up properly" against the hounds. Is anything like this sort of maneuver possible under the new ruleset? Cheers!
How does Sorcerer Lord taking a Chariot / Gorebeast Chariot work as a mount? - Daemonic steed, Manticore, Dragon etc all set up to work as essentially a stat buff to the main Sorcerer Profile but for the chariot it just says ‘may take it’ - do they add 4 wounds, get a +3 armour save etc?
Amazing review! Its made me super excited to dust off my Warriorss of Chaos again! I'm glad the hellcannon has returned but I am a bit gutted that the warshrine hasnt, it was a super fun unit
What worked well in the olden days was a bunch of small units of Khorne marauders armed with flails. Yeah, they would eventually die, but they were so cheap you could field a good number of units and a charge from these guys would hurt way beyond their point value.
Ooh darn, was kinda wanting to figure the list out for myself but now Rob has done it for me weeks before i can get my hands on the book, Old World problems i guess.
Finally get to use my Demon Stone throwers. Never was a fan of the kill the Front and you don't get to attack back from 6th. Gotta get some games in. It just seems like Chosen bunkers and chosen knight hammers are the way to go with Some hex and buff spells while dropping strength 5 mini pies in the enemy

Man I carved up so many Elves with these guys back in 4th ed. Can you get to 1+ save on the Knights?
2+
Finally get to use my Demon Stone throwers. Never was a fan of the kill the Front and you don't get to attack back from 6th. Gotta get some games in. It just seems like Chosen bunkers and chosen knight hammers are the way to go with Some hex and buff spells while dropping strength 5 mini pies in the enemy
Big fan of those army overviews!
Hoping you could do the Empire next. Please? ❤ ;-)
Neat presentation, good work !
Thank you very much!
