    I own three Caniks and I love them, that being said, I had my first problem with my TP9 Elite SC when I was practicing different drills at the range, my Elite SC would go out of battery and wouldn't fire. I tried different ammo and the same thing was happening. I called Canik and I have to say that the customer service was excellent. They asked what grain bullet I was using and I told them mostly 115 grain, they said that the recoil spring was too strong for that grain if I didn't shoot the gun often. They said they would send me a lighter recoil spring and I would be back in business, but in the meantime, keep the slide open to break in that recoil spring, or just start running a heavier grain bullet to break it in. Bottom Line, Excellent Guns, Excellent Customer Service!

      Booyah, and that's what I love hearing. We do try to get most folks to get the 124grain when they are picking up ammo. I hope we get a good resolution then I'll post.

      Brand new gun doesn’t shoot! Just buy special ammo and leave it in an unusable state for a while maybe it will heal itself. Canik sucks as hard as Budsguns!

      Canik lists in some manuals that their firearm are design for 124 gr NATO loads. I ran one mag of 124 gr non-NATO and then tried 115 gr and both worked without issues. Some Canik firearms may require breaking in before the 115 gr ammo will cycle properly. Canik no longer supplies the lighter recoil springs for free. They invited me to buy one. They said it has been a long time since they offered the lighter recoil springs for free to resolve cycling issues.

    Got a Canik Rival-S and immediately had issues (videos are on my channel). Requested a shipping label and it took customer service a week, after several requests, to send me one by email. The gun is now at Century arms for warranty service. Many other people are having the same issues with the steel frame Rivals, but no one is posting videos about their issues.

    Totally different experience here. I only asked Canik’s support if they knew of a good tool to remove the slide lock pin on an Elite SC which is notoriously hard to remove. They treated me like crap and couldn’t tell me which tool would work and didn’t offer to remove the pin. I had an issue with a Glock where a screw broke in the MOS in the slide and Glock fixed it for me for free, almost no questions asked.

      I had a totally different experience with Canik than you. I had a issue and they sent me parts free of charge 3 times. After the 3rd time when the gun still didn't work right they offered to replace it. I did ask them to do that but not only did they do that they gave me their newest model the Rival right when it came out. I received one before the dealers in my area. I couldn't ask for better customer service and I have dealt with S&W, Glock, Tarus and have a a good experience with all of them. A lot of times it comes down to how you talk to the people. Not saying that was a issue with you but I've been on both sides of that coin so I know. Better luck to you in the future .

      @SecurityAllStar  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hey, you were the one I was referencing in the video. Yes, we could have gotten the plate off with the pusher, milled down the bottom of it and replaced it. Why would I take a brand new customer's gun, mill the plate and void a warranty? Why? That would just be plain stupid. Not being able to mount a $325 sight easily and properly for a customer that spent $1,000 on the entire setup is a major problem for that customer and one that I'm anxious to see if Canik will fix. Now, click bait is boobs, cleavage and twirking for normal people. How was it click bait exactly?

      bro I couldn't have said it better myself... I wish they would have followed up immediately with, "So you know why I chose to post this video AFTER being a Canik dealer and proud owner for all these years? Because it took THIS long for us to run into a problem where we actually had to get an RMA for service and subsequent call-tag for one of these firearms. That in itself should say enough about this manufacturer of arms. With a quality control team such as theirs we are certain that they will have this done and repaired or replaced super fast, and if ya don't hear from us, good news, all is well. If they give us problems, we'll be sure to update yall with another video with updates. We just want to be transparent with yall so that we can keep our level of trust with the public, as well as our own accountability. Not EVERYthing is perfect with these guys, but after all these years, they get damn close!!"
      But instead, they go on and on and on about how questionable they are on how long it's going to take them to respond to the service request. I'm so tired of these people that take full advantage of all of these endorsements they get for their half a$$ed, most-of-the-time, biased a$$ed reviews, half not looking out for us, and the other half not looking out properly to whom they're supposed to represent. I hope these guys get free stuff from Canik and get sued for posting something like this. I'm officially unsubscribed from these idiots for good. Not just here either. I'm tired of it everywhere. If I think you're too selfish or petty with your "brand," that WE give you, solely from us and our wasted time on your "CLICK BAIT" videos... no more. And I suggest yall do the same thing. Did you guys see any guns out of display in this store? I struggled to find one. Maybe there's one or two back there somewhere other than on their hips. If that's the case, there's a reason. It means they're not as high volume as a manufacturer requires a dealer to be, for said dealer to make certain that each current model is on display in the case. Up front. If there were guns on display for sale they would've been in the background of the video. There weren't any because they're not worth the time to the manufacturer's sales people to make sure inventory is kept at the highest of levels, not only for sales, but obv for display. A "Gun Store" that has no guns on display, is not a gun store worth buying from unless he's a private gun dealer selling at wholesale prices, which is extremely rare and in a lot of cases, states, and provinces is illegal. Sorry this is so long. I'm just really tired of all of these fake a$$ youtube "brands" thinking their worth our time. I can't wait till all the GOOD YT shows get bought up and put on TH-cam TV so that we can have a new cable company to rob us all blind for the next quarter century. Yay! I think I need to go to bed. Too much internet for one night.

    I bought an MC9 and went directly to the firing line. I did have a few battery issues and the mags didn't always drop freely.
    Came home second guessing my purchase. Not being one who gives up easy, (my wife calls it stubborness), I spent some time on you tube and did some close examinations of the gun. I repaired/fine tuned my MC9 and now it shoots and functions perfectly and I didn't have to buy or replace any parts. Very pleased with the performance now.

      What work did you do?

    • @normanpersing2475
      @normanpersing2475 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For the battery issue I sanded the top of the polymer slide rail so they were even with the steel guides. That works perfectly now.
      The mag drop problem was pretty easy to fix also. I spent a lot of time examining what could be the cause. I discovered that the travel on the mag release button wasn't far enough to keep the mag catch from causing friction on the magazine case.
      I removed the slide and used a small grinding stone in my dremmel on slow speed and ground the tip of the mag catch a little at a time.
      I stopped frequently to check function and it didn't take long to have every mag drop freely.
      I have been back to the range and have had zero problems.
      I never spent a dime and didn't have to send it back to Canik.

    I just sent in my Canik Mete SFX on January 31. The trigger developed an early wall (where take up is normal) , followed by an audible click, skip, the the regular wall before breaking cleanly as Canik is best known for. It makes me throw my shots terribly. I actually have video of it to demonstrate to the Canik service person. They accepted my claim and It is there now. My first Canik was purchased in 2020, the TP9 Elite, so I am familiar with the proper feel of the trigger. My first experience sending something in for service.

Sent in all necessary rebate paperwork for 6 to 8 week delivery time. After 10 weeks called rebate center and they said bla bla bla excuse and would take another 6 to 8 weeks. I watched a youtube video and someone suggested I take a punch from underneath and punch out the plate. Where the red dot screws go into the slide from underneath are open. Punched slid in perfectly, I did and it came out, installed the red dot and I'm a happy as can be. I've been a firearms instructor for 20 plus years. The Caniks in my opinion are the best on the market. I would not trade my Caniks for sigs, CZs, HKs or definitely not Glocks. 😉

      Thanks for sharing. Good information. If the customer had not been there being a little "overshadow" we would have probably done things differently. I can say that the optic we chose was designed to slide in the rear sight slot and because the rear of the cut was slightly raised, it would not fit flush against the top of the slide cutout. After looking at all of the Caniks in our shop, I'd say this is true of most of the cutouts. I will not get another of these sights for any Canik except maybe the DA versions.

      As stated by others here and in Canik group on Reddit, Canik states their guns are designed for 124 gr NATA loads that are a little hotter. Most ammo in the USA is not NATO loaded and many use 115 gr. If you were using 115 gr ammo then that is the problem. Your options are to use 124 gr ammo for say the first 300 rounds or leave the slide locked open for 3 days to a week or rack the slide several hundred times or buy a new, lighter spring from Canik or from someone else. I have a Rival and had no issue with using 115 gr at my first range trip. But some others may have the issue and my bet would be the issue is more likely to occur with older Canik models than maybe the Rival and Mete series.

Sure they will try to take care of the customer problems, but its not the same. I don't mind working on my own things, as I have always been a mechanical nut and fabricator etc. I have studied and done a ot of work on many of my guns thru the years and helped others with theirs. First, want to say thanks for the video. Please keep in mind my knowledge of guns is 1% of yours. I watched the entire video and I am not sure what problem you are actually having. You mention the gun, the optic and maybe even a plate, and I did not understand if you are mounting the optic straight onto the gun or are using an optic plate between the gun and optic. You also put the blame on the gun immediately without telling us if you tried a second optic or plate, which would be my first remedy. Could you clear that up? For me what would have been nice is if before you sent the gun back you would have taken video of the problem so it would be perfectly clear to an old geezer like me. Thanks in advance, Paul.

    • @SecurityAllStar
      @SecurityAllStar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Paul - good comments. Most of the Caniks come with a place already cut out for an optic. You can remove the place and put an optic in its place. Some of the optics that are made specifically for Caniks, like the Meprolite, are made to slide in the rear site slot. What we had a problem with is the rear of the plate you would normally remove to put a standard RMR optic on was raised slightly in the rear. I mean, just a very slight amount where we could not push in the rear sight (with a sight pusher) without the raised rear of the plate making the Meprolight cant back slightly. When we realized what was going on, either the plate or the cutout was milled like .5mm off making the RMR plate get a little stuck and the new sight impossible to mount flush against the slide. This was definitely a first. When we do the follow-up video, I'll take a picture, that's a very good idea. Does this help?

      @@SecurityAllStar canik mete is not designed to take rmr type of optic. Same as elite sc. But you can use a specialized optic plate to fit a rmr optic but lose cowitness with the irons. METE is only compatible to RMRcc footprint.

    All my Canik’s did the same. Be careful what you feed it because they were made to only take Nato, CIP, or SAAMI rounds. Canik also doesn’t do well with any grain under 124 grain. Even though I feed 4 of my brand new Canik’s the right ammo, they had multiple jams. I even locked the slide back for weeks and still fte, stovepipes you name it. Contacted Canik and they sent me new guide rods and recoil springs. Still had issues! I do admit they have awesome triggers out the box plus all the accessories are cool! However they need to do better with their QC. Great guns at the range but never would I trust them with my personal protection means. IE home or self defense. All my Canik’s came from Academy or big gun retailers and still had issues. My ammo was new and everything but still had problems. I have Glocks, Walthers, Springfield’s, HK’s, etc. Honestly Glock is superior to all of those. They really do work! Now of course any gun can jam, but Canik needs to do better. You can google and TH-cam Canik issues and it’s a lot. I really tried with them because I loved their guns! But I literally sold or traded all mines and no issues out my other guns! Now yours may be ok and perfect. Just put about 200 rounds and see if there are hiccups. Not a fan boy to no firearm brand at all. Just speaking from 10 plus years of firearms experience. That’s why some Canik’s are so cheap and include all the goodies. It’s because they put emphasis on all that and none on reliability. Henceforth the cliche, “You get what you pay for.” Any gun you buy make sure to read the manual fully. Surprisingly you’ll find very informative and needed info.

      Interesting. I just purchased a TP9SF and right out of the box I had issues. Shot 80 rounds and 8 times the slide did not return fully forward and did not cock the striker. I also had one stovepipe. I was shooting two brands of 115 grain. I haven't tried a higher grain (as mentioned), but really I shouldn't have to. I'm calling Century Arms today to send it in. Anyone have ideas on this issue? I too have several brands of handguns including HK (my personal favorite), Glock, Beretta, Springfield Armory and have been shooting 40+ years. I've never had this particular issue with any handgun. I bought the Canik on a whim because of how everyone raves about the trigger AND I got it for $300 new. I never intended for it to replace any of my defense guns and certainly won't now.
