Thank you I really enjoy seeing an original idea in doweling jigs....it would not take much to setup a 90 degree connection...it solves the problem of having the dowel holes line-up
Well. I finally got around to making mine. I left a little extra room on both sides in case it didn't match up and I could trim some off. To my surprise, it matched up perfect. Didn't even need to sand it, even though I did. This has now taken the place of my Kreg pocket jig my wife bought me. Thanks, and (sorry honey).
Awesome, going to make a couple this week , love the big one too, makes a perfect set. I made my own and use it more than my Kreg. It just looks so much cleaner..
I am beginning to think this is also my favorite of your jigs. Do you plan on providing plans for this one also? If you do, I would really appreciate it if you did. Thank you for all your hard work. It is extremely helpful, and I am sure will save us all a ton of money. I am pretty new to woodworking and I really enjoy your expertise.
Thank you for this simple and at the same time great idea. I am thinking to use brass pipe instead of steel spacers but I read several comments and see people are very keen to use these type of spacing. Now i m in doubt, is it okay to use brass pipe?
Thanks! The idea isn’t mine, I just showed my version of the doweling jig;) If you are not planning to use the jig a lot, the copper inserts would work for some time.
Hi you are a joiner - if you were to use a Dado or a shoulder joint ( dado for say a middle shelf) and shoulder joint (rabbet I guess ) for the top of a cupboard - would you just use glue OR would you still use dowells?
Nice work, im looking in the uk for this typ of spacers from brass or similar not so harden steel, becourse i don't won't dull my drill bits faster? Has anyone suggestions?
I messaged you earlier this week re your dowelling jig for 1/2 in cedar - would the self centering jig work better and if so, what size metal insert would you use
Sorry, Burt, just checked the message board and didn't see your message. Anyway, I would say 1/4" dowels would do for your 1/2" board (an you can buy them). I would find some tube with aprox. 1/4 inch inside diameter and take from there. You can use an old wrench socket for it. I would say, this jig (in this video) would be the easiest jig to build at home shop as it doesn't have any moving parts (easier to make it precise)... Once you have some moving parts for centering-it would be so much easier to make it on the CNC machine...
Thank you! I left the link under the video. If you can't order from their, you can also buy metal pipes from eBay. They sell many different diameters. Here is one for example: www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-OD-12mm-x10mm-ID-250mm-Length-304-Stainless-Steel-Capillary-Tube-Pipe-Silver/192230686574?epid=2261836426&hash=item2cc1d77f6e:g:XuwAAOSw6YtZUxtm
I like this idea, but won't the addition of the 'sandpaper' throw your measurement out by a fraction, unless you take that into account when doing the initial measurement!
You are right- it will. However, the fact that the dowel holes are not exactly centered is not a problem in this case. When you flip the top board and joint it to the bottom one- they will be flush, the dowel holes will be shifted a bit to one side on both boards.

Its a thing of genius. We all want something that cant go wrong..
And you have found it
Congrtulations..
Im proud of your talent Thanks.
Rino, thank you for your kind words but I can claim I invented this design)))

You make this look so easy, This is the dowel jig that I prefer the most - thank you for inspiring us
Thank you for the kind words! :)

Hi Daniena! Glad you found it useful! I am from Belarus but leave in the US...
hopefully I can make some money and going there someday ")
Awesome, going to make a couple this week , love the big one too, makes a perfect set. I made my own and use it more than my Kreg. It just looks so much cleaner..
Good luck, Tim
You’re a bloody genius!!!
Another cool tool. Hope I can get those steel spacers/sleeves in Australia though :)
Thanks, Rob! Hope you find it on your island...:)
Very simple & clever, thanks
Thanks!
Very good idea!
Greeting from Germany
+Heiko W. Thanks, Heiko! I love to drive in Germany! Did 250 km/h till the computer kicked in...;)

Thanks, Simon! Glad to hear it! :)
I did it! easy to make and really helpful
Glad to hear it!:)
Nice video. I'm gonna have to check out that grip tape you used.
I started to use it on my shop made pushers many years ago..:)
interesting solution for alignment!
They've been selling these type of doweling jigs for years (that use this alignment solution). This is just my take on it...:)
I am beginning to think this is also my favorite of your jigs. Do you plan on providing plans for this one also? If you do, I would really appreciate it if you did. Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for your kind words Gregg!

Actually, out of all dowel jigs I've made-this one is my favorite:) Very simple and reliable.
yup seems so nice. specially here in philipines thats the tools here are very expensive, si you have to make a diy to save.
nice and simple well done!
! thank you, Andrew
Wow, impressive stuff! subscribed and liked!
Thank you, Master.
No, the honor is all mine, Ivan!! I will never be able to build the shop made woodworking machines you've created!!

Great Project
Thanks!
you can use it as a jig for 90 degree drills to
Yes :)
Great idea but i think with the sticky sandpaper you put on, the holes are not centered anymore.
True. It would be important to keep in mind while making the smaller diameter doweling jigs for skinnier boards...
Thanks for the thought!
Hi you are a joiner - if you were to use a Dado or a shoulder joint ( dado for say a middle shelf) and shoulder joint (rabbet I guess ) for the top of a cupboard - would you just use glue OR would you still use dowells?
Probably just glue
well done
Thanks, Pat! :)
Nice work, im looking in the uk for this typ of spacers from brass or similar not so harden steel, becourse i don't won't dull my drill bits faster? Has anyone suggestions?
it seems that after dry fitting the joint, the alignment of the joint is slightly off. could you please show it clearly with a zoom in shot?
Hi there. Do you think I can use the steel expansion sleeve of a row bolt for my dowel jig? Thanks
Hi, I think it would be OK as long as the sleeve holds the drill bit in place...
bagus sekali tutorialnya
11/64" doesn't equal 12.2mm. Probably meant 31/64. But, very nice video.
You are right, Robert. Thanks!
😸👍buen trabajo!!!
Very nice
Very nice my new Crazy Russian friend. Thank you very much.
! :))
wow...fantastico
Thanks:)
excelente !!!

Does it works when the two pieces are perpendicular to each one as in a table respect to its legs ?
Not really.
Аккуратно.
