Just finished making your jig. Works great. It’s the first jig I’ve seen on TH-cam that I thought would be useful enough, to take the time to make.

David Hooper spline jigs that ride along the table saw fence are well worth the effort. Other then that I agree.

Tamar, I never thought of women as being great at wood woking. Im new to wood working so I don't know much, Im learning through TH-cam. Watching and listening to you is very inspirational. You use intelligence in every project you put on TH-cam.i hope one day to be as good as you and many of the other wood workers I see on TH-cam.

Hey Tamar, thanks for making this available to us all. I just realized after going to Lowe’s to purchase the steel bushing for the center hole, purchase a second bushing with 3/8 outside diameter and 1/4 inside diameter. Then your dowel jig works perfectly with both 3/8 and 1/4” dowels, same jig, just ad a smaller bushing. I too will likely only use 3/8” dowels but I thought I share! The bushings were in the hardware isle.

The jig you based off of is the jig I do have. I have only used it on one project. I had one are where things just did not line up. There was no issue with the jig, it was my error of how I lined up my boards. I drilled the board facing the wrong way. That is one thing you have to do is be mindful of your board orientation. I fixed by switching to pocket holes. It was my first project with the jig, and I learned from my mistakes. Yes the jig is plastic and if does wear out or break, I now have a source to know how to make a replacement jig. Thank you for the idea and video. Your videos and how you approach and overcome are AWESOME!. It is people like you that inspires me. Please continue to make awesome videos! Mike from Tucson, AZ

This is a great example of innovation, improving on an idea and bringing the innovation forward with a better jig. Tamer also provides us with a great example of integrity. She mentions up front where she drew her inspiration from and provided a link to that product. I just wish all the TH-camrs who've subsequently copied Tamar's innovation had that same integrity.....

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I’ll add that some metal tubing is not precisely 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2”. One may use something called a steel spacer in the nuts and bolts area of one’s local hardware store. Such spacers are only a few cents, come in various lengths (no need to cut them) and pound nicely into wood like you showed. Also Lee Valley makes inserts and bushings for interchangeable sizes (I think something like 6 sizes), but the require a 5/8ths hole, larger than most drill indexes.
    Anyway great video.

Very cool jig. Also learned how to do dowelling. I saw a Wolfcraft dowelling jig, didn't know how it worked.

Always excited when I get notification of a new video from "3X3 Custom" as I know it will be great and useful content that is well produced. You really are an amazing self-trained engineer. I have found the best woodworkers I have known (and I am an "old guy") take the time to first build a jig.

Fantastic, will be making mine asap, love it, and it would be easy to make two or three at different sizes,. after all not many of us use 27 different dowel sizes three would more then cover me. Loving it.

Awesome! Totally agree! Think I’ll just make one more for smaller dowel

if you want different sizes (bushes) look at the 3 screw in bushes (metric I know 6,8,10,) supplied with the 'cheap' Silverline pocket hole jig (£5.00. UK)

I will definitely be building this jig. I have a plan to do some exposed dowel joinery to recreate a project my grandfather made before I was born. I think it is simple enough that one jig per dowel size would not be that crazy to make. Unless someone suggested a reasonable interchangeable insert for different dowel sizes, I think individual jigs would be easier to do.
