- News Tower! It's the 1930s, the stock market has crashed, Prohibition is in effect, and newspapers are still a thing. We've got a fledgling newspaper to get off the ground with one reporter and a smashed printer.
We're taking a look at the News Tower beta and telling everyone about the stock market, while finding time to work the sports beat. Apparently boxing is super popular in the 30s.
News Tower gameplay begins here.

Live the life of an aspiring influential publisher in New York City during the 1930s.
Define your editorial line and search the globe for the newsworthy stories of the decade.
The Prohibition, the Great Depression, or a lost cat… Not all articles are deserving of a Pulitzer…
But watch out! The mafia, mayor, and other factions will be more than happy to use your influence in New York City to print their own “truth”.
To get unique rewards, you might have to cover the topics they want!
Bend to their will and compromise the freedom of the press or print the truth, whatever the cost!
People’s stories create History.
In News Tower, you will follow some of the key moments of the 1930s, but it will be up to you whether to cover and even influence them.
It’s up to your reporters to beat the deadline to get the news while it’s hot. Time is money in News Tower!
Use your reporter’s favorite topics to send them searching for the right news to get it faster, or it might already be old news by the time they return. The more they cover a topic, the more experienced they get, allowing you to sharpen your editorial line.
Search for exciting news across the US and the world that matches your reader’s interest and editorial line.
Will you decide to publish gossip to satisfy your readers' thirst for sensational press, or will you always seek hard stories for the truth?
A lot of news offers different avenues of investigation, unveiling diverse versions of the story. Send your reporter down a path, but be mindful of the risk and rewards of each: poking your nose around the mafia may lead to “offers” that you can’t refuse…
Not everyone is in favor of the freedom of the press…
Build and optimize your tower to ensure the well-being of your employees while meeting your printing deadlines on Sunday!
Recruit and manage every profession necessary to ensure your success: reporters, photographers, janitors, without forgetting the essential ads salesperson and lawyers.
Make sure you’re a great place to work!
Being surrounded by oily and noisy printing machines can get on the nerves of your employees, and they will lose focus, ultimately leading to poorly written articles which will lower your sales.
One always works best when surrounded by lush vegetation and a near unlimited source of coffee.
Build facilities and decorate each floor to transform your dingy tower into a prestigious workspace for your employees. With that done, you will be able to ensure their well-being!
However, you should probably find a more optimal placement for your coal generator. It’s making an awful noise on the typesetter’s floor…
In News Tower, manage each step of your newspaper's production line:
Telegraph station, typesetting, photography… Each step is essential to transform a reporter’s notes into a ready-to-print article. Recruit the right employees and plan the layout of your workstations to optimize your production.
Searching continuously for more topics & scoops is exciting, but will your production line keep up?
Raise your news empire
Start as a local Brooklyn newspaper and develop your distribution network citywide!
Wall Street, the Yankee Stadium, or New York’s Harbor. Expand to famous locations, each unlocking specific upgrades and new audiences with their own reading interests.
Increase your readership one neighborhood at a time to become New York’s most influential publisher. - เกม
You were right about the price ! At these times a newspaper usually costed around 2 or 3 cents !
I thought that seemed expensive
The horrifying reality that papers don't exist anymore... Until you said something I had never realized that, now I have to hit the liquor cabinet to ease the pain.
My work is then done
I really love this? It's so old timey and nice
I had a lot of fun with it. :)
Love this Vid! You mention page 2 of the newspaper. You have to buy a second printer to get page 2.
Working on that next time :)
This is something different: Printing a newspaper 📰 This could be fun 😁I'm interested to see more of this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this game has so much potential
Totally agree.
About why your telegraphers did diddly squat: You can throw news you don't want to pursue in the trash can (top right corner of the article). This will free up telegraphers to search for more relevant news immediately since every telegrapher is linked to an article. If you leave them open, it could take days for the articles to naturally expire before a telegrapher can resume its search!
Soo...the guy can't hang up the phone and take another call? :D
Newspapers? Oh, a historical drama! 😅Looks very nice, thanks for covering it! I hope devs hear your suggestion and allow to edit the headlines.
I really need that to continue playing.
Noted!
I actually worked for my school news paper last year. So i can say some places still use them
Actual...paper? Will wonders never cease ;)
@@WeeHoursGames yes real paper even i was shocked
This looks pretty neat! Seems well fleshed out so far. My only worry is wheather it will just be more and more and more of the same to progress once the basics are down. I hope they introduce more mechanics throughout the game.
Let's see what comes down the road.
This reminds me on a older game where you designed a magazine.
You controlled your reporters like in the sims, trained them, meet famous people and made pictures for the front and middle part.
It became pretty challenging later on since all this people wanted to party with you first and you had limited time to write the articles.
That sounds fun
this looks lovely. Would like to see more period games, nobody has done the Louis 14th baroque or the complicated fashion eras yet because they are feart of the artwork
Agreed :)
This looks interesting. Sadly, there are no more newspapers.
Sadly, no. No more Funny Pages ;)
@@WeeHoursGames I used to like Funny Pages
so...much...potential - give us the story of Clark Kent and/or Peter Parker
I'm desperately hoping one of them will call me "chief" ;)
I hate how old you're making me feel
Think how bad I feel ;)
🖤❤️🖤❤️
HAHAHA its true Newspapers were very much a thing Honest!!!
I swear they were real
💙🧡💙🧡
I don't understand these modern times ... what are the kids nowadays making hats out of?
Or boats?
Camera filters 😖
Speaking as a gen X person, for the love of God, please let this paper (and this game) die. It has no basis either in reality or a fun video game. The UI is terrible (like paying more than once for a Telegraph) and forced you to go down a path spending your money to a horrendous degree and not explaining the mechanics well as no feature title editing. Was a toilet odor *really* a feature of this "comfort" tutorial?
By 37 minutes when you were forced to order food you already did, I checked out. If others like it I won't protest, but this was not fun, and I tried to stick it out to the end. You are fine and funny, so know you're awesome as usual! (Oh, "liquidation" means "murder" in the game, not "sale." Also guns were known as "heaters" but who the hell cares, the game is bad.
Your assistant apparently left before I did. But if you want to make it go down in flames another episode, so be it.)
Well...it is just a beta version. Let's see what's in the future. I enjoyed the concept of it...but I really need to be able to change the headlines.
Ouch 😅 Can't make a game for every one i guess. We went with a lighter more comical approuch ala Two point Hospital and Tavern Master. Ofc the balance is way off and the focus shouldn't be as much on ordering food and stuff but thats why we run a beta. We did put some effort in though. THanks for the critic UI and UX is an ongoing process.
