Glad to see you visited Toronto DJ. I live in TO and am also an N scaler. Modelling an industrial site right here in Toronto near where I live. Also made a one hour OPSIG You tube video about prototype modelling. As past President of our section of the Canadian Association of Railway Modellers, I organized several visits to the site you visited.
I still remember when that big steam engine was in a different location in Toronto. Well before they made round house park a thing. It’s my favourite place to visit for a short trip every time I go see the blue jays.
Toronto is an incredible city. I still remember visiting the CN Tower as a kid and being fascinated by the rail yard. I definitely need to put it back on our family trip list. Great video, as always!
Many other reasons why I enjoy your videos Not only do you look at industries! Thank you But you like switchers I prefer 1st and 2nd generation And you scratch build! We are a dying breed. Can’t wait for your next one Come on spring!!
I have photos somewhere of the roundhouse, taken from atop the CN tower, from the early 80s, when it was still part of an active railroad yard, and that park was all track, oh, and of 6213 when it was located elsewhere in Toronto.
Love the model train running around! I love how you are able to do these amazing videos of realistic track planning its really opened my eyes on how the railroads work! Ive taken your advice and bought a $600 drone to start filming track plans in my area (Cape cod, Massachusetts area) we have a Class 3 railroad that interchanges with a class 1 railroad and between your videos and watching the trains around here really inspired me to dig deep into being a huge railfan!
fantastic! Learn about the part 107 for rules on flying safe. Stay high enough to avoid bothering crews and beware of paranoid public, lol. More videos when weather improves.
@djstrains indeed! Been studying EVERYTHING there is to know about rules and safety about drones when/where to fly them, and what a safe distance is considered! I look foward to your next video!
The connecting rods on that little guy whipping around looking like it was going 80MPH yet it was moving at like 5MPH...Like Thelma's legs on Scobby Doo. ALL I thought was Jinkies, JInkies as it was going by. .Yeah Weather has been sucky Here in Iowa its been 2 degrees. Come on Spring-Summer.
I loved the turntable. Its so cool to see one turning! Im trying to figure out a way to incorporate a in service turntable on my layout but im modeling modern day.
, Canadian Pacific at their Port Coquitlam BC yard does have a turntable, which is still in use. This turntable is located near the diesel shop and is part of the operational infrastructure that supports the railway's activities in the yard.
You can place the turntable in one corner or at the opposite end to turn your engines. Done railroads need them to turn boxcars because they can only be unloaded from one side? Or a door is jammed closed. Many operating options…
If you ever get the chance to go to Steamtown USA in Scranton Pennsylvania, go in the Summertime when they have EMD week it's so worth it. Plus you can see the only other Big Boy that was certified by FRA approved to operate 4012 in the United States besides 4014 but doesn't because of the area it's in as it could operate. Steamtowns Roundhouse and Turntable shops are all operational 👍🏻👍🏻
That old, olive green Canadian National GP9(?) sure takes me back ... yes - I'm that old. ;-) Thanks for posting, DJ.
It is good to see places that celebrate trains and appreciates the blessing that they are, both old and new.

Look at DJ "Be the drone!" That's an excellent Easter egg showing a prototype kink in the track where the curve meets the diamond. Who expected that?
@djtrains awesome video in Toronto Canada keep up the good work my friend
Thanks for the personal tour. I have never seen a working turntable. The footage was awesome. Looking forward to the scrap yard build.
It was a ton of fun to film.

Railroading is about 3 things - Location, Location, Location. You have to do what needs to be done with the physical characteristics of where you are.
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga has a train ride with a turntable they still use to turn the Engine.

going to -6 on Wednesday so I am using a personal day to avoid it, lol.
Long time no see. Hope you're doing good!
I put out about 16 videos since October, go watch every one of them....quiz later.

Yeah, it's 2⁰ at 2:10am here in Missouri (south of St Louis). The windchill is [censored] cold, and I'm praying the dog doesn't need to go out!
I was there in Sept 2024
We were there Oct 12-14th
I'm thinking you guys need to live up here🇨🇦just saying. CN or CP is most likely looking for an engineer😊
We love Toronto! I retire in 5 years so it may be a summer home!
