I like the idea that socially awkward Grey is a fabrication. A character created for our benefit and to entertain us. But in truth he's this super charismatic, extroverted party guy.
Living in the lake district I can confirm that you cannot experience it by train. There is genuinely one train station (apart from novelty ones like lakeside and la'al ratty but they don't count) in the lake district and it's Windermere. even though the kendal station is called Oxenholme-lake district, it's not actually in the lake district.
I had the same experience driving in a right-hand drive car for the first time, where the main problem is knowing where the car is. What also confused me is that the stick shift is on the other side, but not mirrored. The first gear is always on the left, which is towards you in mainland europe but away from you in the UK (and others). One other thing that was confusing is yielding to cars from the left instead of from the right on equal intersections.
As someone who lives in New York (Upstate and in the rural parts), I can attest to the stupidity of the parallel parking requirement here for obtaining driving licenses. I have parallel parked once in my seven plus years as a licensed driver (granted, I will park a mile away if it means never having to deal with such rubbish) yet they failed me twice on my driving tests due to less than desirable attempts on my part. Absolute rubbish. Also, I too love my road trips to be solo adventures with lots of repeat song playings. - Tim
Had the exact same experience as Brady going from driving in the US to driving in the UK. It was easy enough to shock yourself into being on the proper side of the road by where you're sitting on the opposite side in the car, but I still tried to position myself in the lane as if I was driving on the other side of the car. Clipped a curb or two because of that.
I basically had to parallel park every day at my old place. As far as I'm concerned it's a pretty essential skill to have and makes you a better overall driver.
I think this might be the most Hello Internet that Hello Internet has ever Hello Interneted. These two dudes talking did two dudes talking pretty good. I love it.
Since Grey is a European citizen, could he exchange his US licence for some EU country's license that has the ability to swap for a US one no questions asked and then swap that for a UK one to avoid taking the test? Maybe it would be more hassle than just taking the test but hey it would make for some good anecdotes if it was possible.
As an Australian I did a road trip from the Isle of Skye to York through the lakes district. Would highly, highly recommend. Now an Ireland trip will be on the agenda.
I HATE HATE HATE having to listen to these on TH-cam. WHY haven't these been going on Google Play?!?!? I'm like 3 or 4 episodes behind now because you WON'T POST THEM THERE
Grey thinking that parallel parking is not a necessary skill stuns me. Other than parking lots at malls and such, there is pretty much no place where you won't be needing to parallel park. Not in my city, at least. Also, if it's a requirement - and it should be - why wouldn't you practice before taking the test?!? Parking is not only a useful skill, it's an essential one for me... I've only owned cargo vans for well over 20 years... no back window (or it's blacked out), no mid-side windows... man, you had better know how to park, as well as know the width and length of your vehicle or you're going to be crashing every day.
@@MegaCoolman234 - Wow... that seems like way more trouble than just learning to properly parallel park. An hour or two of practice and you'd have it down.
I'm actually starting to dislike Brady really very much. He just stirs shit by deliberately being uncharitable to Grey. I had a wife like that for a while.
The video loops on these videos are usually so calming; this time I had to look away.
Oh my god the car always dying on the third car is pissing me off so much
S A M E
it's the same thing looped... expected a little bit more different... oh well, back to my podcast app
JUST. TURN. RIGHT.
urk
2 videos, a cortex and now this? Grey, you're too much... I'm now expecting a dry spell for the next 2 years
It's his farewell tour
Cyclops is proving too effective. He's never going to appear in the comments ever again D:
@@CohanRobinson We must slay Grey's fears!
It’s the increased ad revenue this time of year.
And he released another episode of H.I. WITHIN 24 HOURS OMG
"While the wives are away, the husbands will have Arby's." -Brady
Honestly the first time I've heard someone say they eat Arby's
I like the idea that socially awkward Grey is a fabrication. A character created for our benefit and to entertain us. But in truth he's this super charismatic, extroverted party guy.
Grey is spoiling us... a road trip podcast, two videos, Cortex, a robot plushie? I'm living.
You really should've used Truck Simulator footage, and line it up with your directions and description of Brady's driving.
RIP mochigames
A lot of Americans (including me) also call any exit with gas and food along a long stretch of empty interstate a "rest stop".
Obligatory "wow so much stuff with Grey" and "don't get used to it"
It's great that you can hear the turn signal.
i love you santoast
ADDAWAY I LOVE YOU
welcome to America and the fat-o-tron 5000 diet begins
The reason to be able to select gears in an automatic is if you have to climb or descend a hill as well as if you have to tow.

"Oh, honey, would you like to try that again?" had me rolling on the floor
Brady's favorite way to road trip? In an airplane. Of course it is. XD
Is it just me or is Brady more Australian than he was in earlier episoxes
I am happy to see this podcast. This has helped me get into podcasts.
why is this in 4k? :D

A driving podcast and Grey driving! This sounds amazing. I can't wait to listen.
fantastic episode
Pole position or pitstop?
When they where parking, Grey said "can't muck this up", but I thought he said f#!%, and I got so confused.

hey CGP Grey, your next background on the podcast should be a Mandelbrot Set, it looks awesome!
Edit: a Mandelbrot Set zooming in
it's been out for days

As a native Alabamian you should know that it’s a very scary journey.
48:00 In their what?
Same thing as your comment
No, my comment is a one-question survey.
As an Australian I did a road trip from the Isle of Skye to York through the lakes district. Would highly, highly recommend. Now an Ireland trip will be on the agenda.
Why is the racer car video so frustrating!? Drive in the middle, damn it >.
Random axe of intelligence
Gray should get a moped or scooter.

Road Trip!!
Does Brady not need a US driver's license?
I'm not sure of the specific state laws but given that he has a licence holder in the car with him, he could be viewed as a learner.
party party party
A road trip podcast? Exciting. Very much so.
I cant stand krispy cream. ive been spoiled by a local shop that makes doughnuts bigger than your face that taste amazing
This is great

Marc Cote Parallel parking is to be done in an emergency as a last resort. 😂😂😂
@@lardyman2 - I have to assume you're joking. ;-) Or you drive a Smart and front in to the sidewalk.
