It would be cool when you beat the elite 4 Oak is the champion. So you have to battle him to become the champion.
In the manga there was 3 trainers. Red, Blue, and Green (not kidding green was a female) I bet you can guess which one got which starter.
So kinda like Kukuki in Sun and Moon, and if you get lucky to get him in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in after the first League completion.
