Like what I've mentioned in my previous comments about this, I'm not even a fan of Le Sserafim but this is easily an 11/10 for me. It's high up there in the covers of this song, alongside Kobasolo's cover (ft Soyeon and Yujeong of LABOUM). I'm in love with her emotional sincerity in singing this, not to mention that this closely sounded like Utada's original version. I also noticed that the difference between her cover from the other ones and even the original version is that the youthfulness and innocence of her voice gives this magical vibes that puts you into the perspective, not of Chaewon singing about her first love, but from the perspective of that first love him or herself, as if he or she is reminiscing her in how she looked like all those years ago. It may not be the most emotionally intense cover, but it is certainly the most nostalgic sounding cover so far.
As I've said before, everything about this is perfect. Their fandom is absolutely blessed to have her.

Y'all are me, especially Han since I am also very much in love with Chaewon lol. I was dying of adorableness from the whole video but something about the chorus when she's singing "you are always gonna be my love" in that BEAUTIFUL voice of hers just gives me chills. Also loving how people who were casual Fearnots are just falling deeper and deeper and closing in on ult biasing!
I'm such a big fan of Hikaru Utada. Her music is literally god-tier imo. So this cover is very much happily anticipated. As a side note, Utada came out as non-binary last year and is a supporter of LGBTQ.

This song was released way back '99. Listen to Utada Hikaru's other song Automatic. This is song in particular is something I often heard growing up even before I was in first grade.

This is going to trigger my PUSD (post utada stress disorder). Only CIA PsyOp victims and people living in Japan during 1999s Utada mania can understand the torture of repeatedly listening to the same song 24 hours a day (even great music like this). It's not an exaggeration that throughout 1999-2000 at least every third song played on Tokyo radio stations, department stores, subway stations, TV variety shows, apartment buildings... was something from 14 year old Utada Hikaru's debut album. First Love is not only the best-selling album in Asian music history, it blew up the Japanese Jpop Idol industry and led to music labels giving more creative freedom to young artists and a mad scramble to find artists with direct international exposure.
Though Chaewon does an admirable rendition of this song, if you go back and listen to the original version you can understand what makes Utada Hikaru's vocals so unique.
The Cozy and old style film is expression of her memory with first Love.

It’s wild bc I watched a bunch of izone things after I got into leserrafim…. And it was weird bc I didn’t feel like she really stuck out there… she had longer hair.. she’s obviously still gorgeous and stuff before but her I’m this group is where she found herself for sure!!! The bob, her confidence, her vocals, her dancing and stage presence…. She doesn’t even look like the same performer honestly….. makes me feel so happy for her to get here. Same with Sakura being from izone also… she shines so much more here… I love that for both of them to have this second chance at debuting and it being a success.. they’re amazing!
