Former KCAL meteorologist, "The Price is Right" announcer Rich Field remembers Bob Barker

- RIch Fields, the former KCAL News meteorologist and "The Price is Right" announcer, joined Ross Palombo to remember Bob Barker on the day of his death at 99 years old.
I could feel the emotion in Rich the whole time. RIP Bob Barker (1923-2023).

What a classy and great guy Rich Fields is. I remember hearing him announce Bob's last show. Rich's opening was fantastic. It really matched the excitement of the day. Great Job Rich.
Rich should have taken Bob’s place on the show. Rich had tpir in his blood. No one loved tpir more than Rich. It showed on all the episodes. Must have been politics.

Exactly. He was a perfect replacement after Rod Roddy died 20 years ago.
Well if you don't know, at one taping, he was sitting in the audience (relatively young, I might say), he got to meet Johnny. And so did Rod.

I was really hoping he would make it to 100, so that TPIR could hold another epic birthday celebration for him in person - the only difference from his 90th was that he would be wheelchair bound (according to my prediction). Oh well, I guess no one lives forever, no matter how immortal they might seem to be - RIP Bob Barker (1923-2023). Thanks for making my childhood the best one ever!

Rich Fields was amazing. He was my favorite announcer. I love George Gray but Rich Fields had so much fun energy. He is incredible and I feel his pain. ❤❤❤

George Gray is a great announcer but Rich Fields was the one who matched Johnny and Rod’s magic and energy
I could understand Rich's emotions as he gave tribute to Bob Barker. I'll never forget the closing of Bob's last show as host of The Price Is Right and the hug Rich Fields and Bob Barker shared. It's obvious they were dear friends. Farewell, Mr. Barker; you brought a great deal of joy to all of us.
Aww geez I’m crying. I loved watching Bob Barker when I was a kid in the 90s. He was so delightful to watch. Rest in peace, Bob! Love ya
I've always found it interesting how Rich talks about how close he was with Bob, and yet in this interview and others he only ever refers to him as "Mr. Barker".
Rich definitely looked up to Bob as an older figure.
Rich had a podcast and there too he would say "Mr. Barker". One can have a close relationship with somebody without refering to them by a first name. Rich does that out of respect and out of reverence to Mr. Barker.
Tonight at 8PM EST on CBS, DIan Parkinson and Holly Hallstrom will be hosting footage of the Bob Barker appearance as a contestant on the August 26, 2023 episode of Celebrity Bucket Kickers.
Believe it or not guys, Bob going up to heaven,wasn’t a surprise, I kind of knew he was gonna go up to heaven at 99 in a half, it wasn’t a surprise to me, and not reach a 100 no matter what, I mean the odds weren’t good at all of him reaching 100, he’s still frail as of right now up in heaven, been very frail since 2016, I mean of course it’s sad, but not heartbreakingly sad.
I was not used to Rich Fields as of 2004, which caused me to watch a cooking show hosted by Martha Stewart on NBC.

I applaud Rich's ability to keep it together, you can tell how much he loved the man as a co-worker, friend and he probably saw Bob as a father figure too. R I P Bob your legacy will NEVER leave.

@@cricketcustomer2164 No. Mike Richards, the executive producer at the time (yes, the same Mike Richards who tried becoming Jeopardy host) wanted to take TPiR in a new direction, which included an announcer with more experience in improv.

Yes, RIch was the 3rd permanent announcer after Rod Roddy. He was the show's announcer from the tail end of season 32 until the end of season 38.

Rich is now a motivational speaker. He moved to Tampa. Rejoined TV in November 2021. Made a remark about a colleague having a felony in November 2022. Quit TV the beginning of this year and became a motivational speaker.
He just released his first book a month ago and it's really good. A must for any Price fan
