Don’t let the price deter you from checking them out! I’m based in CA and purchased my 2022 SEL-R last month in a premium color with options for 44k. These cars aren’t selling very well so they’re willing to come down a bit I think. People don’t know what they’re missing! Since purchasing, I’ve installed H&R springs and it tastefully drops the car while perfectly addressing the lack of firmness/sportiness in the suspension. I’m averaging 27mpg city/hwy on CA grade 91 oct. with a 20 min hwy commute to work. It’s on par comfort wise and far more fun to drive than my outgoing, well-optioned 2020 Benz C300. I know, Apples to Oranges but a great buy nonetheless!
I have a 2021 Arteon SEL premium. In a few months, I'm buying a 2023 model. I'm near Chicago, and there's a dealer in California selling loaded ones for about 45000.
congrats. Looking to do the same sometime next year. Its basically a cheaper Audi A7. Excellent interior vs my life long japanese cars im used to. Makes you feel like you're in a special place.
So glad to finally see a review of the 2022 model… and you have convinced me: Arteon is my next car! But: the SEL Premium comes with more than just a power tailgate :-) It also has 360 degree camera, ventilated seats as you mention, seat massage function, and the Harman Kardon sound system. Personally I think the 360 degree camera and the premium sound system are MUST have features in a 2022 car in this class and size. Can’t wait :-)
I’m psyched. I’m getting some tools loans payed off this year and saving up for a new car. I was set on the Golf R. Till I started doing research on this car. Luckily I am a tech for volkswagen so getting one will be easy.
@@strongishpath1556Did you get it? I was also set on the Golf R but ended up with a brand new Arteon SEL Premium. Since I already have an MK8 GTI SE DSG, I have now the best of both worlds.
As a 2019 Golf R owner who had considered purchasing the 2019 Arteon at the time, this 2022 model is very tempting. The three main reasons why I didn’t buy the ‘19 model is because it didn’t have the DSG transmission, had less hp, and didn’t have the Auto Hold function. But now that they’ve added all of those features to the 2022 model, it’s very tempting! And the 0-60 time is so close to my Golf R, that’s amazing. I’m just interested to see how the suspension feels, since it isn’t a true R model.
The suspension is not going to wow you from a sport sedan perspective. It’s a luxo sedan meant to be comfortable and a smooth ride. You can do some coil overs if you want it to feel on par with the golf r. I’m wanting to upgrade from my 21 Arteon to the 22 solely because of the Dsg because it’s that much better.
The delay you describe It’s not theatrics in the golf r or GTI, it’s called rolling anti lag. It spools up the turbo quicker for better/faster boost delivery. Even the mk7.5 and s3 had it.
man ive had my eye on this car since it came out. its the only vw i would want. if i had 50k and somehow had the money all these other people do i would buy this.
Because if people were complaining about the $45K-$53K price range of the car, what makes you think they would be willing to spend another $8K+ for the Arteon R (Basically 15HP more, high back from seats (Shared with the GTI/Golf R) and torque vectoring AWD are the main differences.
After seeing your review did go test drive the exact model and did end up buying it. I know the standard infotainment is not as good as the Harmon Kardon 12 speaker in the Premium model but did not think the price/equipment equation made sense for me. How do you feel about the standard infotainment system? Really do not want aftermarket installers digging around the interior.
The problem with the Arteon is the price tag, for $50k you can get luxury sedans that offers more features and tech. If the Arteon starts around $30k and top off at $40K then the would sell better in my opinion.
In the UK - No CD player, no spare wheel - penny pinching on a car in that price range! Nobody at VW knows how to change the drive default setting on start up. It automatically defaults to Sport every time.
Cars haven’t had factory CD players since 2018-2019 and even earlier. BMW stopped including their in dash CD/DVD player in the BMW 5 Series G30 as of the 2019 model year. The Arteons sold in the UK maybe are programmed differently when it comes to the driving experience modes. Here in the US the car stays in the driving mode that was last selected and defaults to it. Also US market Arteon comes with full size spare tire mounted on a actual rim.
I am sure powerplant is same in Euro car but saw review by German reviewer. He reviewed the Shooting Brake Arteon R that we do not get here. It has 320 HP. I am sure just tuning difference with same engine. Here is review by a different reviewer: th-cam.com/video/-86k1EviHU8/w-d-xo.html Wish we had the exhaust on the Euro spec cars here in the States.
@@doctorrobert60The Arteon is the same exact EA888 gen 4 engine with 20HP less, same exact DQ381 DSG 7-Speed as the Arteon R. Here we get 4Motion Haldex AWD system instead of the Torque vectoring AWD in the Arteon R, which is also shared with the MK8 Golf R. If the extra 15-20 horses are important to you as well as the sports high back front seats and torque vectoring AWD, might as well bite the bullet, sacrifice the interior/cargo space and get a Golf R.
It’s the same engine, regardless of trim package. Are you familiar with Vdubs? R-line is Vdubs appearance package. S-line is Audi’s appearance package, you’re welcome.

VW hasn't done a good job of selling the value in the car. It's worth the asking price, and I don't have to own a suv
I saved a Sedan on Saturday. I picked a Black 2022 Arteon SEL R. Such a great car.
I just purchased a 2022 Arteon and I’m obsessed with it, it’s stunning and so fun to drive

Did you get a good deal?
The SEL premium also gains a heated steering wheel and air condition front seats and heated rear seats over the sel.

Cool review - love our Arteon, looks great, massive trunk, quick , economical - perfect remedy to the mass of SUV’s - cheers from BRISBANE
Glad to hear the drivetrain changes were effective.

I got the 2020 but I did the apr ecu flash new air intake and new turbo inlet pipe is now pushing 402Hp dyno prove

Picking up a certified one like yours on Sunday. Thanks.
Nice review

I wish VW would send a full spec R to states. I would order mine now
Would you pay $60K-$65K for an Arteon R?
I had a 2015 R and now a 2018 GTI. Maybe a 2022/23 Arteon will be next. Thanks for the review!
VW has improved this car but why can’t we get the Euro Arteon R?

Great review. Definitely on my wish list, BTW is that an Ozzie accent? Hi From Sydney
WE GOT THE EURO SPEC NOW. LOVE IT!
I want one. *Starts working the acabus**
I’m probably happy with my 2021 premium. I’m not interested in them 2018 rims. I have Napa leather hk radio vented seats rear heated seats .

Yeah but actual transaction prices of new Arteons sold tell a very different story. These cars rarely if ever sold at full MSRP.

Dude, The “R” designation has and never has had anything to do with the powerplant in the states. Are you new to Vdubs?

SUV ?
Why would people buy a KIA if they can get this instead?? I don’t get it.
Because they believe the KIA Stinger is a RWD Korean BMW 5 Series for 35% less money than the real thing.
👏👏👏👍👍👍
It’s to expensive for me.😳
