Great review. I have som points to add. About Android auto.I have Huawei Mate 20X but chinese version, which got this year Harmony OS4 update, but still can install and use Google Play Store. I also was able to make Android auto works. It is just Android auto need some Google applications to run properely, and if you don't have Google Play store preinstalled in rom, you probably don't have them in system. But after you install all of them, Android auto works ok (you need Google playstore, google services, google calendar, google chrome, google app, and can try google assistent but for me "ok google" din't work in android auto). I also have OnePlus Open (same as Oppo Find N3), which got Android 14 update. The update improved the quality and consistency of the cameras. The cameras setup is the same as OnePlus 12 and phots are greate. I think Sony camera sensors are better than Omnivision, which are used in Vivo X Fold 3 as main camera. But still in terms of hardware, they are great foldable phones, the lacking part is Android and customization. There is Samsung still a bit ahead.
My favorite Gadget reviewer on TH-cam, thank you for another great and hot review! I hope you review the X fold 3 vanilla model soon and, of course, a detailed comparison between these two! 🙌
I was waiting for your review since the phone was announced. I went to see this phone on some other tech reviewers which didn't have your quality and analysis... It's nice to know you're always reliable (in speed, analysis, honesty) I'm looking for my next phone, which will follow an old Redmi K20 Pro. Due to the camera, I would rather pick the X100 Pro or the promising X100 Ultra, even though the OnePlus 12 does interest me. Do you think you could include the latter in some next camera comparison? I believe it received camera updates, or is it just not as good as other phones? Thank you as always Chris!
On my Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, with the latest system update I can see “HDR 10 - HEVC“ under the HDR Capabilities section on Netflix. I hope they will add official support for Dolby Vision in Netflix for the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro soon since the screen supports it. It also has an additional “HEVC (Secure)" under Supported Hardware Codecs. The blank space you encountered on TH-cam is probably because you had the “Hide the front camera" option enabled which adds a blank strip to hide the pinhole camera. Switching to Automatic fitting or Display the front camera should fix the issue. I hope you will release an updated version of the video as the info about the Netflix HDR, blank space on TH-cam, and the 'missing' Zeiss T* coating are no longer valid.
Bro I'm reluctant to buy the pro veriant like you or the standard vanilla vivo xfold3, because of the heating issues and throttling and bad battery life as Average Dad Tech has mention, can you confirm that software updates might solve these issues? Or should I go with the vanella?
I haven't encountered any overheating issues yet, and in my case the battery life has been exceptional - way better than my old Huawei phone. I think it really depends on your typical usage. I'm an occasional gamer, and enjoy watching videos and browsing the web. Games are particularly good when the phone is unfolded as the extra screen estate makes it more immersive. Don't get the phone if Android Auto and Wear OS are important to you. I chose the Pro version as I wanted the latest gen 3 Snapdragon, wireless charging, faster wired charging, better camera sensors, and the dedicated image v3 chip. I do find it kind humorous that it took Samsung until it's 6th iteration of the phone to figure out that people want a more usable front display with a proper 20:9 aspect ratio and not the slim candybar design that they've stuck with out of complacency in the international foldable phone market.

Yeah this looks like a crazy good foldable option but it's still to expensive to risk grey importing for the average consumer outside of China imo.. if they launch it global it will be 2000+ so can't see that happening.. but maybe they will surprise me
I'm thinking it might not come out globally as it is going to be crazy expensive.
@@Techtablets 💯
Great review as always but you didn't get to test the stylus pen on the screen and its functionality. I will appreciate if you do so in your next video
To my (limited) knowledge it does not support it
Dose it have a dex mode
Nope. Just clone display sadly.
@Techtablets thanks for the fast replay, so is there a app like dex mode
Is this the best foldable on the market right now? Or can the honor magic v2 make its case?
Exactly the same question
Vivo has better cameras and waterproofing, but honor v2 will be loads cheaper and the cameras on v2 are still decent.
Does mob payments work on this phone? Thanks! 🙂
Hi. Please whats maximum zoom for video. Its really bad zoom for longer distance. I ordered this boy but hopefully for some occasionally situation will be good.
10x zoom max with video.
Thanks. Hopefully i will not regret it. Its not cheap device.
Zoom video is using the main camera only so not 3x as I showed in this review.
Thanks. Its really bad 10x zoom ? I little worry about video recording with zoom. I ordered device but im thinking before they post it i probably cancel order and buy instead good camera mobile. Its hard to decide. 😂
OnePlus open has better camera what you think.
Waiting for 8 gen 4 foldable. I believe gen 4 will be a big jump just like gen 1 to gen 2 was.
Just gonna wait for google fold 9 and hope for the best
Great review thank you
Just cant beat the Samsung Dex and features for this price range, still love my Fold 4, had a vivo before nothing but bloatware , although they definably do set the trend with tech innovation.
I hate the narrow Screen and 25Watt stoneage charging
At least on Origin OS you can uninstall most/all pre installed apps
Hey Chris did you have to do any battery saving changes per app at all? Or did notifications and everything else just work fine without any changes?
I got mine yesterday in Canada. The notification does not work even if you set up all the battery and app permissions.
@@onlystreet5 does that include toggling all the associated startup switches as well?
@@onlystreet5 by turning on autostart, associated startup, floating window, display on lock screen, background popups and setting high background power use to my messaging apps I get all notifications. I also lock the messaging apps in the recent apps.
Can I delete all Chinese’s apps? Like the vivo play store and have just google play store on it?
wish vivo was available in N.A market, getting tired of choosing between Samsung and google
Most of the Chinese brands doesnt even want to bother with the NA market.
Europe really needs Vivo phones. Swear to god we are just as limited as the North American market. Half the continent doesn't even have Pixel phones or Nothing phones or Xperias, let alone Oppos or Oneplus or Realmes.
Are speaker good quality if not i will use my portable speaker .
can we restore this phone from a google backup of a s24 ultra ?
Any problems with Google wallet working
excellent review !
Thank you kindly!
I love the fingerprint reader in the power button, like on my OnePlus Open.
Yes that works great and the Open is an awesome phone Ur feels nicer in hand than this the Open/N3 Fold.
What phone is your daily driver. Should give us a video telling us and telling us why you chose this phone as your primary.
I thought I did in this video. It's the Vivo X100 Pro is my daily has been since I got it. Why, the cameras are so good. Good battery life, 8k is also legit 8k not 6k or 4k upscaled. Mics are poor in video. FunTouch OS takes a bit to get use to but okay.
@@Techtablets is there any phone that does upscaling for 8K, they are all native 8K
Many fake it.
Does Google pay work?
I wish they'd make them wider like with the google pixel fold. Superb phone, superb review.
Yes I want even more screen space like 8.8inchs or 9 would be great.
I mean vivo has the biggest real-estate on a foldable device there is!
According to the specifications, the onboard charging is rated at 100w, even though it comes with a 120w charger.
Ah okay good find I thought it was 120w as that's the charger rate. But still 30 mins is the fastest there is for a foldable considering the battery size. Then Xiaomis fold also quicker but smaller batteries.
So if android auto doesn't work, does it mean google maps timelime doesn't work too?
Maps works but yes not the timeline.
@@Techtablets too bad ..
Thanks a lot! Finally an answet.. I have been trying to figure that out for so long
Great video, this is approching the perfection for foldable. The only china is sad. This HW with google or samsung and it would be perfect
Haaaaaaarrddeewaaarrr is aaaaweesssoooommm. Love it❤
I want to know about the camera and I guess some features I know you told us about the camera but is the camera better than I'm sure it is the Samsung
Better than the Z Fold 5 cameras yes.
@@Techtablets how do I purchase one of these pretty sure it is kind of expensive because it's a flagship do you know if it's unlocked and would I be able to use it on my T-Mobile network
Please can you review vivo pad 3 pro?
I own global Honor Magic Vs and I regret it! I'd happily switch to a Chinese ROM Vivo X Fold - because of the software being rather poor on the Honor (got that reviewed)
Don't that's still an awesome foldable phone.
Does it support dutch language? Thx
Yes it does :)
Does this foldable have second space?
I've got the phone yes it has second space
Hopefully global ROM not far away. Very nice review.
I hope so too!
Does it support a stylus pen?
No it doesn't I read it wrong no stylus
Looks absolutely amazing how much tech they've packed into a small package, but then again I just saw a review for a 49 inch monitor for $1100
