I've been in customer service for many years. I'm now older than 60! My concern is with certain words and phrases, such as "I got you", or "no problem". The elderly may not understand. You may lose these customers if you don't use basic English. In addition, English purists like me (both my parents were teachers), may not like words and phrases that are not basic English. I think people in customer service need to work on reducing non basic English. Like anything, it takes practice.

Thank you for this advice! Do you think changing some of the words I use to match the age range of the customer (if I know roughly how old they are) may even improve my services?

I really have to get better at taking criticism… definitely my weak spot yet it’s nearly impossible to fix since I’m starting to feel it’s routed in trauma 😂 maybe that’s something I have to pay a psychologist for and not something an online class will fix
