Homecoming is yearly occurrence for high schools and colleges! The entire performance is based on HBCU homecomings because they are massive and basically huge cultural events for black folks.
She literally says it in the documentary.. she must not have been paying attention

Don’t Hurt Yourself is about Jay Z’s infidelity. Well technically the whole Lemonade album is. But that song is the peak of her anger and frustration
Her thickness is because this performance was less than a year after she gave birth to twins (yes, mamas rule!!!)
As far as vocal strength and control, if I remember correctly, when she was in Destiny's Child her dad had her and her group run on the treadmill in heels while singing!!! She knows how to train and control her instrument.
Notice how VERSATILE she is. Not just one style, one flow etc. She experiments and creates albums where each one is different.
I looove when vocal coaches review Bey, because when people who don't know music dare to say Beyoncé cant sing, I just have to chuckle and say well aren't you precious 😆. Aint a lot of entertainers dancing and singing like her in this universe lol. This show was epic!

The dancer that made her fall, and that one scene is her baby sister Solange. Her sister often dances back up for her. She also has a solo singing career, but doesn’t have as big of a catalog as her sister.

I love your reaction to this show. The show is based on homecomings from historically black colleges and universities. Marching bands are a biiiiig deal at these schools. The band and majorettes, drumline all went to HBCUs around the country.

From this latest album “Renaissance” vocally deconstruct the last 3 or so minutes of “Virgos Groove” it’s like insane riffing. Almost like the Blue Lady from “ The Fifth Element” lol
Those riffs are the unsung hero of that album lol.
I got to experience week 1 of beychella like 8 feet from the stage and when I tell you everyone’s jaw was on the floor when destiny’s child came out. like the entire crowd was shook. My mom called me instantly because she was so jealous she wasn’t there for that

B has trained her entire life perfecting her ability to dance and sing. The queen dosen't lip sing. I just watched a video of Kelly walking around harmonizing while doing doing random stuff. Her voice never changed, it was as if she was standing still singing. She said that's how she learned how to harmonize with Michelle when she came to the group. Simply amazing! Go watch the Renaissance movie folks.

Homecoming is a concept and big event thats unique to hbcu and black culture. This entire concert was done in homage to the black experience at an hbcu which she never got to experience, so this is her homecoming

Homecoming is a reference to the annual event at HBCU's. It's an *EVENT*, there's a big football game, the bands/drum lines and majorette's go all out and alumns from previous classes come back for events celebrating the school and the community. If the Beychella performance had a theme or aesthetic, it was Homecoming.
