Because you asked in the video, Nigel ... Yes, I could have such a practice video once a week 😀 I still have the feeling that I will never manage to play really fast. And I don't know exactly how to practise it. Here in this video you have shown that wonderfully. Thank you very much for that! 🙏
You’re welcome! I’m so glad this helped you.
A must for all sax players, good clear explanation and a perfect way to learn and improve any piece you are working on. Keep up the good work Nigel.

Great lesson! Very helpful!
Very good. Well explained. Thank you.
Absolutely second the finger positioning tip, my teacher calls me out on that all the time and it's the single biggest thing that improves my speed and smoothness in playing.
Excellent tips Nigel. Yes, more videos like this one. Thank you! :)
Excellent - very helpful!

Great exercise 👌
Do I like these type of lessons duh YES!! ALL musicians needs to be reeducated on how to play certain note dictations and this is PERFECT for beginner and intermediate sax players as well as other musicians to get better. Thank you Nigel for emphasizing this concept to the daily practice on the saxophone.

A lovely way to spice up Honeysuckle Rose, loved it.
I just started studying some jazz after years spent playing classical music in a local band and that one has been my first standard, can't wait to try this line.
love this, will give it a go later, thank you
Brilliant. Let me know how you get on Mary!

Very Clever Logic---superrrr

You make it look so easy. Great lesson on technique and building speed. Currently I cant keep up with your fingering warmup. Look forward to trying this.
These lessons are great, definitely keep doing them.
Cool thanks. Will do.
I love these types of lessons Nigel. These lessons show real world experience.
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it Mark.
Gracias saludos desde Costa Rica.
These are great lessons, providing helpful insights here on how to play difficult passages, touching on improv, too.
Cheers Don.
This is a very useful lesson, Nigel. As usual, your explanations are very clear and your demonstrations superb! Thank you.

Thanks!
I will be trying this as really need to improve my 'fast fingers' technique. Thanks👍🏾
Hope it helps you get there Elaine!
I bought my first brand new (cheap) saxophone when I started. I wore it down in 6 months by playing it 6 hours a day. I bought a Selmer after that. I still have it after 30 years. Practice makes perfect. I taught myself but it was pretty much the same what you said.
Yes. Good lesson
Thanks for watching!
Yes, very helpful
Cheers Wendy!
Like the practice ,please do more
Awesome! Cheers Erwin.
very usefull
Great!
Really nice lesson.
Thanks! 😃
I like this type of lesson.
Brill, thanks for letting me know.
Very helpful and I will be giving it a try in this morning's practice. Thanks Nigel.
Go for it Stephen.
Brilliant lessons
Interesting, first five notes sound like Honeysuckle rose. Great video and material to practice, definitely keen for more videos. Thanks for the video!! Big fan of Charlie Parker but even more so of Sonny Stitt and amongst lots of other players.
Great lesson, structured to progress in realistically manageable 'bites'. I always want to start with the end product, which is a recipe for despair! Memo to self: start slowly and keep it that way until thoroughly mastered, then speed up in small steps, just as the man said!
Good plan Paul. I’m glad this helped you.
Love your teachings....I am a new sax player....and am .earning alot...and having fun
Great to hear that Keith!
Great lessons
Thanks!
What kind of playing are you most interested in Tony?
I think I like the slow version better. :)
You're such a good player, sound better than most on youtube.
Thanks.
Ha! Cheers.
Breathing 😮💨
Yes, Nigel, I like specially these types of lessons. As soon as I have watched this video until the end, I will go to practice on it. I have printed it out already. Tempo 100 is not so fast, let´s see at what speed I can play it in a couple of days
Brilliant! Go for it Marco!
@@McGillMusicSaxSchool , Dear Nigel, I have practiced it today for more than an hour already. After a small rest and a drink, half an hour, I will continue with Bird Bounces for one more hour hour, maybe even more. This piece is difficult also.
I like to learn your teaching.

great stuff Nigel. I am a subscriber. Is there a chance you can do this same bebop line for tenor. thanks Nigel
You’re a pro would so much like to play the sax aww 😩 don’t have a sax, maybe be one day😄
In that particular example I'd like to know if you used any alternate fingerings? Side C? Bis key? Side F#? I think all three of those would help make this passage smoother.
Great question David. In this passage in just using the Bis Bb alternate.
Thanks. Will try this tomorrow (too late now after band practice but have had a nice time listening to My Old Flame)
Yes I like these lessons
Any chance you could put the chord symbols on the chart?
That's a great suggestion Steph. The progression over the 4 bars is just ii, V7 I. So for Alto that's Gm7, C7, F. Tenor: Cm7, F7, Bb. Hope that helps.
@@McGillMusicSaxSchool thanks x
Please I need workout sheet.
How can I get it?
I love your technique lessons Nigel and this is no exception. I would say that some of us would need to slow it down to 60-80 BPM initially - I certainly do anyway 😂
Hey no problem with going slower Bev. It’s the process that’s important not the speed. Glad you liked this session.

How many weeks will it take for me to be able to play The Flight of the Bumblebee please?😂
I wish I didn’t feel so lost navigating anything online.
Lots of us feel that way Tommie. Our new Sax School LITE makes it easy to navigate. Check it out here: saxschoolonline.com/courses/
