Battlefield 1 is a prime example of why developers should focus more on creating immersive and authentic universes for their games again. Battlefield 1 just sucked you in and made it feel like you were fighting WWI (without even being realistic). Modern gaming is all about ridiculous skins, crossovers and anime content. its unreal how EA had this game and it came out in 2016, then the abomination 2042 comes out 5 years later that looks worse, plays worse, and lacks in every other metric. Pinnacle battlefield right here, still play it, glad to see a resurgence in it.
I still can't believe when I played the Play Test for 2042 they claimed it was bad because it was merely a server load test... fair maybe. But then the retail game came out and it looked exactly the same as the test build i opted in for. I don't know what the hell happened but the lag and unfinished graphical problems were present from the Play test. Something went absolutely wrong with 2042's development.
BF1 was made by the veteran devs that gave us the great hits of bad company 2, bf3 and bf4(and both battlefronts after all the patches). Then, mid BF5 development, EA decided to lay off most of those veteran devs to "freshen" the team with new faces. All the talent that made this games was lost for newer DICE games thanks to EA. That's why 2042 is just playable at best, BF5 was a mess and the next battlefield will be just as bad as those two.

I could play games all day... now I find it hard to even boot up a game... for whatever reason I just don't enjoy games like I used to. But when helldivers 2 came out at the start of the year, I actually for the first time in a long time felt like a kid again. That game is something different, something about it just hits the right notes. Hopefully the next BF game will be the one, that will also make us feel like kids again.
It's a bit tough for someone like me who went hard from bc2 to bf1. Put more hours into those battlefields than any other game series of my life, maybe From games are the only contender. I actually don't know what they can do to revive it, I don't know how to improve it, to me BF1 is the one that kept bringing me back but if the next one tries to recapture BF4 magic I just don't see it capturing much long term audience
I recently installed a MWR mod that was for MW2 called H2M. Before it's release it got a cease and desist from Activision so the files got leaked. It would have brought back the old-school COD vibes but obviously Activision has ruined it again. Now there's no servers, no one is playing it anymore, but for a few weeks it was populated and I got to experience 2010 COD again for a little while. Most fun I've had gaming in the last decade pretty much.
I'm a gaming junkie so when I play a new game I go at it hard and then it gets boring and it's onto my next fix. The last game that I was interested in was the first descendant but now I'm suuuper bored. Majority of new games don't give me that high and it sucks so bad
I played 6 hours this week. Six hours more than I have in the last five years. Amazing how well it's held up. LOVE it. Got 279 resupplies, 9 flags, MVP and Ace Squad. Felt good.
11:00 that "feeling" for a game they talk about, i havent had that kind of feeling in almost 20 years then it comes to games. but then Helldivers 2 came, and my old friends from "school" the school before University started to play together again, damn i had that vibe / feeling i haven't had for 2 decades while playing.
Horse bites HURT. at least according to my aunt. She always had horses and one of her long term horses without any behavioral issues kinda just started to act out, and started biting her on her shoulders/back every time every time she started working with the shoes/hooves. It was so sudden and repetitive that she had to give up and sell her to someone else. It really messed with my aunt, and she showed me the wounds. Pretty crazy
Thanks for getting me back into this game.😊 I had no idea people were still playing. It's like going out on the front porch in the morning, with a hot cup of coffee, looking at the sun coming up. Then jumping on your horse and staying your enemies mercilessly.
it was hard to believe this game wasn't well received. it was so immersive. operations were fantastic. sounds were incredible. music was great. I was one of the few originally that thought it was fantastic. Glad to see people still playing it.
DICE will never be able to recreate what made Battlefield 1 special. I remember watching snoop dog smoke a blunt while playing this game! 😂 DICE too busy nowadays trying to chase trends with COD and Fortnite. Instead of staying true to what made us all love the franchise in the first place. 😢

Remake for what? It still plays fine and looks fine and is backwards compatible on consoles. They're even adding anti cheat to it on PC after all these years.

Makes me so happy to see you talking about BF1. This game absolutely NAILED the feel and horror of war like no other BF game imo. Operations were unreal and still one of the only game modes I look for to get my BF fix personally. This coming from a BF3/4 guy, I’d rank this one right there with them for the best BF experiences.
I was playing this morning. Watching all of us charge forward only for a barrage of mortar fire to obliterate 90% of us in one go. We scattered like roaches. All training goes out the window. I was one of the first to perish. It was so intense.😅

Sublime art direction this game. Best I've ever seen. Audio as well as visuals. It's only weakness really is that they couldn't find an algorithm to avoid completely one sided games which happens too often.
They really nailed the physics and the rag dolls in BF1. And the immersion. And graphics. Seriously, most games these games wouldn’t be able to pull off this level of performance and graphics without needing serious optimizations that otherwise hurt the fidelity of the game.
this brings back a lot of good memories, this was my first battlefield and I had a blast playing this game. I remember trolling and T bagging the hell out of players😆
Bf1 was appealing because there is a certain level of randomness (chaos) to it. Your perfect aim may miss. Your bad shots may hit. You might live by using cover. You might not when a bomber flies overhead. They may notice you in the most clever hiding spots. They may not see you when you stand in the open. It's just so random. The skill is only there to increase your odds. Nobody is safe. Nobody.
You’re also forgetting no Gen z skins, realistic soldier models, guns, sounds. No tactical sprint someone making 5000 rpm turns while u shoot them and most importantly no skill based match making, there’s a server browser you can join the map you like to play
I playtested this at EA HQ through a company called VG Market. They had us in a focus group during Alpha and had us give feedback on the Scout class for a week. Was awesome!
Thanks for getting me to go back to this great game. I went back and played the campaign. Then I got my arse handed to me a bunch of times in multi. Been a good long while since I got my face shot off that many times.
I don’t think anyone wants another old war game from battlefield. They need to get the modern setting right like they did with bc2 - bf4. 2042 was a train wreck at launch but came around. Hopefully they learned from that but we shall see.

I got battlefield 1 about a week ago for like 5 quid I think it was on the Xbox series x. Best fiver I’ve ever spent. I’m rubbish at multiplayer games, even worse at fps games but despite that I’ve been enjoying mostly every bit of it! The atmosphere is like no other game I’ve played. Even if I’m getting DooDoo’d on constantly (that’s why it’s mostly enjoy, spend half the bloody game waiting to spawn in) I enjoy playing because it’s an epic experience nonetheless. 10/10. Definitely the best fps game I’ve played, to be fair that’s out of about 10 games but still.
I know dice has implanted themselves in the world of "realistic" warfare, but I would LOVE it if they made like and alternate history version of say the American revolutionary war. Keep the setting the same but have full creativity over weapons and technology. Kinda like a Wolfenstein/battlefield hybrid. I think they would be amazing at that

People always talk about the peak of battlefield being with battlefield 3 and 4 but for me it is definitely battlefield 1

The two jacks of YT gaming together is something I've wanted to see for some time. I am so glad I've seen it now.
Bf1 was appealing because there is a certain level of randomness (chaos) to it.
Your perfect aim may miss. Your bad shots may hit.
You might live by using cover. You might not when a bomber flies overhead.
They may notice you in the most clever hiding spots.
They may not see you when you stand in the open.
It's just so random. The skill is only there to increase your odds.
Nobody is safe. Nobody.
You’re also forgetting no Gen z skins, realistic soldier models, guns, sounds. No tactical sprint someone making 5000 rpm turns while u shoot them and most importantly no skill based match making, there’s a server browser you can join the map you like to play
No battlefield game feels as much like you’re in a raging war like this one
BF1 and BFV was amazing, hopefully they bring back some of this feelings
I playtested this at EA HQ through a company called VG Market. They had us in a focus group during Alpha and had us give feedback on the Scout class for a week. Was awesome!

I returned to the game a week ago, its quite easy to find servers on PC. WHAT A GAME!
Thanks for getting me to go back to this great game. I went back and played the campaign. Then I got my arse handed to me a bunch of times in multi. Been a good long while since I got my face shot off that many times.
Historical BFs with iconic weapons and legendary battles are the best BFs.
BF 2025 will be another modern setting flop.
I don’t think anyone wants another old war game from battlefield. They need to get the modern setting right like they did with bc2 - bf4. 2042 was a train wreck at launch but came around. Hopefully they learned from that but we shall see.

Plus the dozen modern BFs before that with only BF1 and BFV being about iconic battles.
Its my alltime favorite.. can't beat it.
This game has it all! Immersion, destruction, fun vehicles, no skill based match making and no stupid gen z skins. It also looks better than any games released after it
This game is so cinematic, love it! Just imagine this game with these graphics but modern era.
Still one of the best battlefield games ever made, the atmosphere of the maps was Awesome 🔥

I got battlefield 1 about a week ago for like 5 quid I think it was on the Xbox series x. Best fiver I’ve ever spent.
I’m rubbish at multiplayer games, even worse at fps games but despite that I’ve been enjoying mostly every bit of it! The atmosphere is like no other game I’ve played. Even if I’m getting DooDoo’d on constantly (that’s why it’s mostly enjoy, spend half the bloody game waiting to spawn in) I enjoy playing because it’s an epic experience nonetheless.
10/10. Definitely the best fps game I’ve played, to be fair that’s out of about 10 games but still.
£5 is a bargain 👌

At this point in time, games’ graphics had more or less peaked. Looking at this game 20 years later, it will still look great.

I know dice has implanted themselves in the world of "realistic" warfare, but I would LOVE it if they made like and alternate history version of say the American revolutionary war. Keep the setting the same but have full creativity over weapons and technology. Kinda like a Wolfenstein/battlefield hybrid. I think they would be amazing at that
Also, love these videos with Shawn. I started watching TH-cam when I was 14. I'm almost 26 now and both of you were the first people I watched. Shawn cause of Happy Wheels and you because of battlefield. I convinced my parents to rent battlefield 4 cause of you. Having both of you in one video is pretty great from me and I'm sure so many others :)

Same here , started with bf1 & never looked back. Cod just isn't the same anymore.
