@@Benjamin-un1wl You are saved and forgiven by the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and his work alone. (see 1 Corinthians 15: 1-8, Ephesians 2: 8-9, and Titus 3: 5) At the moment of epiphany/realization/belief of this good news, you are forgiven and baptized by the Spirit into the body of Christ. (see 1 Corinthians 12: 12-13) While you are saved by Jesus and Jesus alone, water baptism is a public display of your salvation. Water baptism allows others to physically see what has happened to you spiritually.

@@Benjamin-un1wl Baptism is not what saves a person; grace through faith in Christ is what saves a person. This is taught everywhere, like in Ephesians 2:8-9 or John 5:24.
There are certain verses that make baptism seem like a requirement for salvation, like Acts 2:38, but this would be a misunderstanding of the purpose of baptism. Like John the Baptist's baptism, baptism was the primary way that converts would show their faith. Baptism was to show publicly that the convert has repented and is choosing to follow the right way. It was an admission more than anything else.
By Peter telling people to repent and be baptized to be forgiven, he could have also said to repent and follow Jesus to be forgiven; they essentially mean the same thing. Jesus likely chose baptism because it is a way for people to commit to righteousness, far better than just saying that you'll follow him because a physical God-ordained act is easier to point to as a commitment. The baptism has no power, only the faith involved in it, just how circumcision, the identifying act of the people of God in the Old Testament, had no power in the Old Testament, only the faith involved with it (Romans 2:25-29).
Baptism is important for that reason, and every convert should get baptized (if they refuse, they'll be disobeying the lord). However, if someone doesn't have the opportunity to get baptized but has faith and repentance, God will not reject them because they didn't have the work of baptism. The thief on the cross is a good example, and it's because of this reason that baptism isn't what saves us.

@@Benjamin-un1wl I see your logic with Acts 2:38, but it is a little flawed. I'll use your logic to prove my point: John 5:24 says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." If Jesus says that one, "has [I may add that it is present tense] eternal life," and, "has passed from death to life," after he says, "whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me," then the person who has faith has eternal life and is therefore saved. Since your logic can prove contradictory sides, there must be a problem, and the problem is that the Bible is often not that literal.
When Peter was speaking about repenting and being baptized for forgiveness of sins, he wasn't trying to be so strict or literal. If he was, he would have added faith in his instructions, as the Bible consistently recognizes this as the method through which believers recieve grace, and I'm sure he did preach faith to them, but the fact that the author (Luke) decided to record these words like this was not to show strict doctrine (not that they contradicted themselves) but certain key elements of the event.
The reasons why baptism is not what saves us is because the Bible is clear that grace through faith saves us, and not any works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Baptism is a work. Let me ask you this; if someone came to true faith and repentance but died before they could get baptized, would God not save them, contradicting Ephesians 2:8‐9 in that God required them to DO something to become saved?

    • @justinbrentwood1299
      @justinbrentwood1299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Benjamin-un1wl A work is something that you do; baptism is a work, but faith and repentance are decisions to trust Jesus and change your ways. That's not a work; you can sit in a chair and do that.
It's interesting that you say that the intention to get baptized would be enough to save a person who has faith but no opportunity to be baptized. If the action of baptism is part of what saves a person, how does the intention of baptism justify a person who can't get baptized? I can intend to give to charity, but until I do, charity isn't benefitted by me. In the same way, how is a believer benefitted by the intention of baptism if the action is what saves?

@@Benjamin-un1wl No Peter isn't saying baptism saves, notice he says to REPENT first which means you have to believe in Christ and repent of your sins which means to change your mind about sin and turn to Christ THEN you can be baptized. before you get baptized however you are already saved. for more proof of this read Acts 8:36-38 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
and read Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

@@Benjamin-un1wl Was the thief on the cross baptized to be saved? nope. he just believed and had faith in Jesus and he was saved, Jesus told him he would see Him in Heaven ( Luke 23:40-43), don't take the Holy Scriptures out of context friend. to be saved all any sinner needs to do is BELIEVE and the moment they believe, the Holy Spirit comes into them and they are led by Him to repent and they become born again and all that is done without being baptized ( John 3:3-8, John 1:12-13, Romans 10:9-13, Ephesians 2:8-9). Salvation is ONLY by faith alone in Christ alone by God's grace alone. Baptism isn't necessary for salvation, whoever taught you that it was necessary for salvation has lied to you and does not understand the Holy Scriptures and that's why we need the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us through the word of God ( 1 John 2:10-14), the Holy Spirit teaches and reveals to us in the Holy Scriptures that teach baptism isn't necessary for salvation. being baptized in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is a part of the Christian faith and it is only to show that you have died with Christ you have died to your sins and rose with Christ ( Romans 6) you have new life in Christ, you are openly professing you are Christ's child and it's the best feeling to have and know. lastly ask the main author of the Holy Scriptures ( Jesus) to give you an understanding and knowledge so you'll know His truth and keep His truth and words in your heart and mind. God bless and that's all I'll say to you.

God made us with true free will, and we have knowledge of good and evil, therefore we bear responsibility for our actions. The good news is out of God's great love, mercy, and grace He willingly died for our sins that we may be forgiven, and not suffer the consequence forever, but have eternal life. 3. Evil (sins and disobedience of Allah etc.) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and evil deeds, etc.), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah, and begging His Pardon). (Ar-Rum 30:41)
    4. And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwâ (piety), certainly We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.). (Al-A’raf 7:96)
Sometimes, natural disasters are very intense and crush even the innocent people living in the affected area. These innocent people will get reward of Allah SWT on the Day of Judgment for the affliction they faced.
Allah SWT has warned in the holy Quran about such trials and tribulations which don’t hit specifically disobedient people.
Allah SWT says: “And fear the Fitnah (affliction and trial, etc.) which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong (but it may afflict all the good and the bad people), and know that Allah is Severe in punishment. (Al-Anfal 8:25)
Allah SWT has also narrated the incidents of different tribes and people who were hit by natural disasters. Some of these incidents have been briefly discussed below:
    1. Tribe of Prophet Noah (AS):
The tribe of Prophet Noah (AS) practiced polytheism and didn’t heed his message. As a result, they had to face flood as punishment. A brief description of the event is as follow:
“So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, floating under Our eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? Then how (terrible) was My torment and My warnings? (Al-Qamar 54:9-16)
