- The violent history of menswear is not only evident but it's deeply rooted in idea of masculinity, and not in a toxic way. Naysayers will say classic menswear is feminine and for sissys, but I'm here to debunk this falshood. Menswear's violent history can found everywhere from suits to boots to winter jackets. I'll tell you why the violent history of menswear is not a bad thing, and lay down the proof that mens classic style is masculine.

I dunno haha! It's an 8 inch .357 revolver that looks like it's based off of a Taurus or something. That one is airsoft and I think they just just made their own design
Another aspect to men's clothing in addition to it not being feminine nor sissy? Just because I suit up daily doesn't mean I'm gay. For some weird reason this is a thing in social circles that they assumed I was gay for the longest time because of my... *looks at scribbled hand writing* groomed hair and well dressed.
Hahaha! Bro, I can totally relate. It's an odd and sad thing. Men throughout history dressed well until literally the late 20th century. Funny enough, the one man who loved my style and complimented my clothing was my grandfather, who was as straight as they come and a tough Sicilian who was in the army and worked as a gasman in the toughest neighborhoods in Detroit. But now for many men being masculine is equated with barbarity; I don't think it's a coincidence that this paradigm shift started with Gen X, the Children of Divorce, where many men grew up without a father. It's a strange world we live in...
@@DemetriosLevi "for many men being masculine is equated with barbarity" I completely agree. And dressing up is seen as civil, therefore, not masculine. Which as you've outlined in your video and about your grandfather, dressing well is quintessential to manliness.
As someone who spent decades in the military - all the clothing is untailored and poorly fitting , made by the lowest bidder and uncomfortable ( we dont own it so it must stay the printed size so when its returned the next person will at least get something that conforms to the label ) "It is supposed to keep you alive not comfortable" is the cry of DI old and new .
Fooled me by the way you guys wear it! That's something I never even though of, especially considering the range of musculature body types that's gotta be even worse than your average Joe. I guess the minuscule advantages of performance wouldn't outweigh the extra cost.
@@DemetriosLevi you probably saw dress uniforms used only for sarimonial events, They also tend to select people photo-ops who just have bodies that look good in the standard uniform sizes . But when we are running around with guns we are wearing baggy camouflage with all kinds of stuff strapped to us. Historical there was only one uniform for all occasion and they were really chosen on the bases of price( British red coats wore red because there is no less expensive pigment then iron oxide ) and the union blue uniform was chosen because there are inexpensive blue pigments ,they used wool because it was less expensive then cotton or linen as it was a byproduct of mutton production . Its just you have been conditioned to think of it looking good but those who could at the time did not dress like that .
@@woltews makes a lot of sense...I can't speak for Vietnam and after but I own some WWII gear and my M43 field jacket is huge for a medium and it'd be impossible to actually trek through terrain without gaiters because the pants are so damn wide
@@DemetriosLevi All that extra space traps air to keep you warm , loos fitting clothing means there is more of what might be you to shoot at but the parts that are not actually you mean the bullet goes only through clothing not you . Also soldiers dress in layers so we need space to put on long johns and thermal pats under our regular pants . Also baggy clothing fits more people requiring fewer sizes and less logistic burden . The down side is you dont look great but "its supposed to keep you alive not look good "

It doesn't make it good... Killing is a bad thing. I think the obsession some men have with violence is a form of toxic masculinity. Wear whatever the fuck you want and what makes you feel good. What is perceived as masculine or feminine changes with time and is highly subjective.

@@MrJorisproductions I understand your point...killing is a part of our fallen nature, but sometimes it's the only option when defending our loved ones. If nobody fought Hitler than he would have won. People will attack and sometimes we need to fight back. Violence is what men gravitate towards, unfortunately, it's the barbaric animal in us whether we like it or not, so we must channel it in a good way (martial arts, sports, etc) or else it will manifest itself into evil. Context matters.
What is masculine and feminine is indeed very subjective (pink, tunics vs pants, even makeup to an extent), but there are still things that we naturally gravitate towards and manifest in certain ways. You indeed can wear whatever the fuck you want and what makes you feel good, but it can come with a price socially, mentally, or even land you in prison, so I say take it with caution haha! Hope you can understand where I'm coming from. Sorry you didn't dig the vid but I really respect you letting me know your reasoning! That's rare on YT haha!
