According to the lore she understands that some races (like the Tao) are technologically superior to the Imperium and really wants to get her hands on their tech to further mankind's superiority.

Oh boy, you really nailed it with that feeling of hopelessness. The way the "camera" zoomed out of the galaxy, slowly revealing that whatever is coming is just so ... unbearably, insanely huge and powerful and mighty, that we and the planets we live on are not even specks of dust in the path of this... infinitely powerful horror. And we can do absolutely nothing. At least that's the vibe i got out of that particular scene. And it really hit home nicely, that's the kind of spooks Lovecraft wanted to share with us , and you really goddamn nailed it with that one scene. At least those are my thoughts. Absolutely wonderful, i loved it!

Well... Depends of the Inquisitor in question.
I'd say most Inquisitors (Example: Eisenhorn) are definitely inclined to figure out the truth via investigation, but then there are the *BLAM NOW, NO QUESTIONS EVER, HERETIC!* types as well. (Like fucking Fyodor.)
I mean Inquisitors even have people like the *Xanthites.*
But yes, an Inquisitor would be close to a detective. Especially if he/she would be working in unison with the Arbites, that are the "Judge Dredds" in 40k.

Backstory for why this video exists:
Recently, the Genestealer Cult army has been revived and rereleased by GW, not having been seen since 2nd edition with the Codex: Tyranid released in 1993.
I really like Tyranids, got a Tyranid tabletop army, and I have always adored the idea of Genestealer Cults, so I wanted to celebrate their return with a video dedicated to them.
Then I realized the more than likely intentional similarities between the Genecults and the likes of the Order of Dagon from the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
So _then_ I realized I should probably make a Lovecraft-inspired video starring the Genecults. _Theeen_ I remembered that Karl had, at one point, made a Lovecraft-inspired 40k video of his own back in 2013, called "The Sulviken Horror', starring Detective Bruce Norring (link to it in the description).
So, I decided to base this video off of his and bring back the character of Detective Bruce Norring in somewhat of a sequel, somewhat of a reboot, pitting him against a Genecult in the Upper Hives of planet Purgatory.
_THEN_, I lastly realized that The Sulviken Horror had originally been released on Halloween 2013 as part of "The Alfa Legion Halloween Collab" (his being the absolute best entry). So, I decided to release THIS video exactly 3 years from the first appearance of Bruce Norring!

I adore the fitting reactions and the chemistry between the Primarchs you have managed. What I also adore is the direction that I am assuming this is taking, which is that this is some form of parallel universe where the lords of the 30k Imperium get a hold of these holovids as some form of glance into an awful future which they can now proceed to avoid.
I always like alternative takes on somber stories where the characters are able to find a way to make peace and get a happy ending. And that this dumb series is helping the Primarchs and Emps reconcile and develop before shit goes down legitimately makes me all warm inside. Of course, those are just assumptions on my part, but still.
Again, good job, will definitely be keeping an eye out for more if you so happen to post it!

This fits my "head canon" quite nice. For me Tyranids were always the greatest threat to the galaxy. No other alien, mutant, human, demon were as dangerous as tyranids are. As they are still coming. More and MORE. Now I like to see that there is a group who is trying to "unite" as many races, groups, tribes what ever you come up with to band together and fight against this enemy. If everyone in the galaxy unite against the Tyranids. They might have a chance.

The fact that they're unified and their cause has a name "The Greater Good" doesn't equate to communism. Socialistic tendencies, sure, but that's pretty much required against all the opposition they face.

Ariel de la Cruz Movies are largely about showing, whereas Lovecraft is about implying and not knowing. That's not to say that successful cosmic horror movies haven't been made before, but it would be hard to make a movie on one of Lovecraft's works correctly.

Took me a long while to figure out why the Inquisitor appeared, and then I remembered that Detective Norring is a psyker powerful enough to contact the Tyranid Hive Mind and not explode. It makes sense that his psychic cry of "GENESTEALERS!" was powerful enough to draw the presence of Inquisitor Drunkoffherarse.
Awesome vid, Alfa. I love how scary the tyranids actually are, in the actual WH40k fluff, each hive fleet is the size of a small galaxy, that proceeds to rip through huge portions of the milky way before finally being stopped, only for another hive fleet to appear. It also mentions how these hive fleets are just a small splinter of the actual tyranid invasion force. The lore also says they've consumed over a thousand galaxies, meaning that over a thousand galaxies worth of bio-mass is descending on the other races of the 40k universe. If theres one thing that will destroy the galaxy, it won't be chaos, or orks, its gonna be the fucking tyranids.
Unless they suddenly crash against a passing-by Nyarlathotep and all die. Talk about an anti-climactic ending, amirite?

The best hope the 40k universe has against the Tyranids is for every race to band together; even then best case scenario is they just make the Milky Way too much of a hassle to eat when there are other, less violent galaxies to eat.
Probably my favorite part of 40k is the fact that the most likely winners (Tyranids) aren't even from the Milky Way. They serve as proof that no matter how bad the 40k galaxy can get there are still darker and more sinister forces just beyond the galaxy's light.
I also blatantly ignore lore that connects the Tyranids to the Old Ones, because that's stupid and makes the 40k universe feel way too small and makes it revolve too much around one or two "important" races. Better that Tyranids are the unknown boogeymen from another galaxy than another messed up project of the Old Ones.

>Get hardcore enough to go to Commoragh and get to tap that Eldar ass because ROGUE TRADER!

That's what I've been babbling to people about for over a year now: *THE MASSIVE POTENTIAL THAT THE ROGUE TRADERS HAVE FOR A GAME LIKE THAT, AND HOW IT'S NOT BEING USED GODDAMMIT!*
My idea was, or more like IS a mixture of RTS and Fleet/dynasty management.
Kind of like you moving your ship/fleet like in total war, some amount per turn, with added politics, economy, logistics etc. vaguely like in Crusader Kings and/or Civilization.
You could start with some preset-dynasty that has a fleet, maybe even a few planets, or you could make your own start as a new rogue trader with a single ship, or maybe several depending of your character's background.
A low-tier start would be a renowned comissar or an IG-commander who got rewarded with the trader's papers after heroic service, a single old ship that's not all too good for much else but haulig cargo, BUT on the other hand your personal troops would be your old battle-hardened war buddies with absolute loyalty and good gear, so you could easily roll over bigger armies of standard IG on ground, which would yield nice chances for some mercenary work, and conquring a few easier planets.
There woud be factions, each with their own disposition towards you, and these would be affected by your actions.
(For example if you act loyal to the Imperium and perform well enough, you could eventually get some Astartes to accompany you.)
If you piss some faction off, like the Dark Eldar, they would target you much easier and more often, and pissing off the AdMech would mean that you'd no longer get ANY help from them. (Good luck with that, lol...)
Of course one could also seek the favor of... Darker powers...
Ship combat would be done with the Battlefleet Gothic style, and on-planet conflicts would be kinda like DoW but you would also have to keep an eye on your troops losses and ship losses, so that losses are permanent and must be replaced.
If you have a Baneblade, and it gets blasted on a planetary fight, you'd either need to get a new one (somehow) or repair the wreck with considerable resources.
You could get new troops in various ways, like Imperial favour (which would eventually give rights to recruit things like Cadians, Catachanis, Valhallans etc.)
There would be special random events like finding a space hulk, and some fluff events like the Badab wars, Gothic war, Severan Dominate's rebellion or the siege of Vraks that you could take part in or benefit from in various ways.
Of course you could also completely swap affiliations and become a Gue'Vesa, become a friggin' pirate that goes around lootin' with some Ork Freeboota, and so on and so forth.
I could easily write a friggin' book about the idea I have.
My dream is an Inquisitor RPG with Bioware's party mechanics. I mean, Inquisitors' retinues are chock-full of crazy, yet competent characters that wouldn't survive long without the Inquisition bailing them out of something. Just begs romancing/bromancing. Of course, some characters will wind up arguing about which enemies of mankind they should hate MORE. "The Inquisition! Those paranoid, psychopathic, incompetent jack-offs!... Um, I mean, present company excluded, Inquisitor sir/ma'm."

Y'know. I have a fear of heights, and by extension the abyss of space. Looking at the night sky scares me, genuinely, because eventually my brain drifts to the thought of me suddenly being launched into it, and being unable to get back.
I forced myself to sit through that entire scene of watching the slow zoom out to reveal just how absolutely fucking MASSIVE that thing was. And after a certain point, despite my sheer terror, I could not stop watching. I sat in horror, my brain trying so hard to wrap around what that thing would even look like to us and failing, utterly, eventually forcing itself to acknowledge the sheer abyss that surrounds us.
That one damn scene scared me on an existential level unlike anything I've ever seen. I think... I think I need a drink.
Plot twist, the outer god is actually really tiny and only in perspective does it look like it's eating the galaxy.
It's such a tourist.

The 5th edition Tyranid Codex says on page 6 that:
"Whether the Tyranids made this perilous journey because they had already consumed everything of worth in their home galaxy *or in flight of another, even more fearsome race*, is unknown."
So yeah, there IS a hint at its best, speculation at its most probable that the Tyranids are running from something.
I would however say DEFINITELY NOT, its just a throw-away line to add mystery and intrigue to the origins of the Tyranids. And it totally worked.

'Course the nids are being stalled by a force even more malicious then they are: GW's refusal to move the story forward.

At 10:00: Take a good, close look at that picture. Notice how there are more tendrils reaching up from the edges of the screen? Either the hive mind is the vanguard of an even bigger force of Tyranids...or that's the first glimpses we have of whatever is chasing the Tyranids into the Milky Way.

And if you ever do get there give them this message, "JUMPSCARES/DEMONS/GHOSTS ALONE DO NOT CONSTITUTE A HORROR MOVIE!" This is very well done and that depiction of the Outer God was VERY good and really gave the feeling that even THAT wasn't the entire Tyranid "Grand Organism" or whatever you'd call it. The Emperor on the golden throne was enough to attract this- his lifeforce so potent it likely made the Milky Way look far more populated than it actually is.
I think the main organism more or less slingshots the fleets to a galaxy by a rough estimate, which gather biomass- then travels back to the main body when done at a meeting point- some probably don’t make the distance, get lost or are slightly off target, and still travel to the Milky Way.
Makes you wonder if the Old Ones knew about it, and that’s why they stayed at home- too many active and the primordial cosmic bottom feeder starts to knock- would explain the proto-nids found on some worlds predating all records

Wow, that was pretty awesome. This video made me like the tyranids as villains a lot more then ever before.
I always felt that in canon Warhammer 40k, the tyranids are the weakest antagonist in terms of personality and memorability as they just an army of space bugs that wants to eat everyone and everything for no real good reason. But in this video, we get to actually see the treat they pose to the galaxy. No cock-teasing or vague and empty threats of them descending on the galaxy, just a still shot of the true form of the tyranids slowly consuming the galaxy in all of its horrifying glory.
Good job man, good job. Oh and by the way, I hope that the drunken bum did not drink all of the amasec in that sack, cause the detective is going to need all of the drinks he can get his hands on after the shit he went through in this video.

That was awesome Alf! I myself have kind of a love-hate relationship with Lovecraft but this was a great adaptation and nicely ties into your overall custom 40K mythos. Even separating that, the production quality really shines. It might sound like damning with fine praise but without as much comedy, the technical and dramatic aspects of your work really pop.
I am legitimately sad that Inquisitor Quist died.

This was... absolutely fantastic. Love the Noir-Lovecraft style, loved the visual edits and animation (Seriously, you keep getting better and better with this style, Kudos!) and loved the tie-in with the rest of the TTS stuff xD
