We don't have large vehicles over here in NZ to tow them. We need to require a special license to be able to tow trailers over a certain weight, so it is just easier to develop these at a certain weight and size. Unless you import a American truck at $200,000 it isn't very practical.
I am curious about how the plumbing issues are addressed? Especially the location and size of waste holding tanks and how they are handled in the rotating assembly.
I am wondering, why is the bedroom always the center of attention. Could this big room not be used more efficietly if the bed could be stowed away, or foldable tatami mats were used?
Is there a reason you skimmed over the kitchen so quickly? I would love to see a more detailed tour of the kitchen. Love the bathroom. Not sure this is worth a quarter million dollars though. Someone said it was $270,000? Why?
@@mattblatchley2061 My comment was specifically in reference to the RV industry. We certainly dominate the rest of the world in specific areas of design and technology.
The US never knew how to think outside the norm. Its extreme capitalism made sure of that... throw money at things to make more money. Leisure items like this will not make more money, or at least not fast enough.
No visible curtains, awnings or other shade. You'll get burnt to a crisp both inside and on the deck. Maybe ok in mild NZ, I don't know, but even NZ gets hot. No way of enclosing that deck means miserable in long bouts of rain. Getting drenched while using that outdoor cooker might not be a $400,000 experience.
Hi Tom, there is actually minimal wobble as the cabin is supported by a slewing bearing. And our production version is a bit longer with more space up the front so it is even more balanced.
They’re probably not gonna mention that you’re not gonna be able to use it the way it’s intended to be used because most rv spaces are narrow and barely accommodate slide outs. It’s nice though.
Beautiful concept but we’re seasick from the bouncing exterior video walk around, such a shame for showing a slick design. And trying to understand how this gets to US$270,000?
You can tell that shelf on the left of the outdoor area is way too shallow. Your feet need to be under the edge of tables to be ergonomical. Standing so far back is gonna give you back pain. Nothing but an ornament shelf
Hi yes, good comment, the item you are referring to on this model is an electric BBQ, but we agree it is a bit too shallow, on our production version we have replaced the BBQ with a longer fold down table which you can put a portable gas BBQ or pizza oven on. Also we have the option of a fold down seat there too.
Fantastic design but I think they need to make it lighter. To quote an article I read about it: "All of this additional hardware does increase the weight of the caravan, however. The tare weight of the Romotow T8 is approximated to be 3400kg. This means you’ll need to look at something like a Ram or Silverado - something with a braked towing capacity of 4500kg - to accommodate loading up the van with some camping gear and equipment." It needs to be much lighter.
Ha! A super heavy fridge there on the deck that's not even plugged in. That's not a $400k experience. Trying to see if there's a lip on the edge of the deck to stop chairs sliding off, or if you'll be forever paranoid about going head over turkey when one leg inches over the edge. Curious why the shell has thickness, especially on the top where it can't have any use but to make it unnecessarily tall and top heavy.
@@paulraymond1804 those plastic chairs slide around easy. You get up to have a piss, flop down again, and the leg has moved 3 inches. Lean forward to get another beer, then sit back again, suddenly you're on your head in the mud. A lip is not a tripping hazard unless you think you're going to walk off the deck at all locations and not just where the ladder is.
I absolutely love the design. That is fresh new thinking. Apart from that I think it has failed to create a nice hanging space. Very mainstream to say the least. A huge gap between the outside and the inside. The only forgiving factor being that it is made for hot weather I guess.
I don't know about other countries but no RV park in the US will accommodate that. You would have to be off grid completely which is great if you have the solar capacity for power. You will also need large tanks for fresh water and waste.
Pretty but totally unpractical. Without support struts you could not use the bedroom area. If it has sufficient rear (living room) weight to balance the overhang, it would be too heavy to tow. It windy weather I would not go near it.
Anyone else notice this mfker costs like $268,500... Aint no fucking person gonna be able to buy this damn thing. And if they go on payment plan its basically getting a TINY house WTF
This camper is $268,000. It’s cool and all but that price point, for a CAMPER is ludicrous. It’s a camper. And honestly, it’s a bare minimum camper. Yeah, it’s cool, but it’s barely functional as a camper, and it cost more than half the nice homes in America. Wow.
Sorry but this is massively over engineered. All that work to make an opened ended spot with so little cover as to make it useless against the elements. A $100 awning on the side of a caravan would provide more protection. Not to mention the lack of living space. Breaking it up the way you have provides three small spaces rather than one big and one small. This is why the curves don't work. That makes it difficult to use the ends of the caravan. It makes more sense to put the bathroom there to leave the rest of the caravan open. But you can't because of the curve.
Innovative, minimalist & modern. However, for about $185K USD - depends on conversion rates, one could get a 32 ft - 9.754 meters, gas or diesel RV. Which means cost of towing truck etc ZERO. Niche target market 😊.
Frankly, the caravans needed a big boost of youth and modernity, and here it is really successful. Really beautiful
Beautiful concept! Also love that background track 🎶 👌
Did anyone else happen to notice how they conveniently left out the kitchen details. Or was it just me?
I think it was just a really quick walkthrough as they didn't even detail the washroom or bedroom
There are a couple of kitchen options. Maybe that’s why? You can also have 2 - 4 sleeping options too, from what I’ve read.
Wouldn't worry about it with this price tag you won't be able to afford food 😂😂😂
@@El-px6wl … right?! 😂
Nice design, but the price is ridiculous.
Amazing 😍🎉 I would invent something to close the open part, in order to double the indoor surface then it would be a perfect mobile home

Is that "what you would invent" is it 😅
Yes, that's a good idea, maybe a second bedroom.
actually they claim it doubles the space, which it doesn't... too much complexity for fancy outdoor space Imo. @@fevolenko3995
And 2 pop outs on each side and you will have a enormous rv.
I am curious about how the plumbing issues are addressed? Especially the location and size of waste holding tanks and how they are handled in the rotating assembly.
Hi Bruce, The plumbing and electrics run through the centre of the bearing that connects the cabin and chassis. That is how the rotation is managed.
That's just Cold blooded it's the Jetsons cartoons
Weres the stove and the refrigerator in this Romotow trailer?
Stove is outside. Fridge I'm hoping is hidden in one of those cabinets in the kitchen.

Our production version has a larger kitchen / living area with the option of a kitchen island. If you go to romotow.com you can download floor plans.
Looks amazing...1 thing where is the storage...looks like 0 exterior and very little inside or am I missing something??
Absolutely amazing! Why does it seem like most of the innovative designs come from overseas? Have we (USA) forgotten how to think outside the norm?
we're wasting our time on F-35s and stuff like that😉

I've noticed that in tent design, too.
Bc we make nice usable things
It would be better if the extra space could be enclosed somehow to create a second bedroom.
There are optional canvas "walls" to enclose the outside seating area.
At the very least, some screen walls to keep the bugs out.
Its so pog

You need stabilizers under the extended areas or it will wobble. Very innovative, needs some tweaking.

@@romotow what approximately will it weigh for towing, and ultimately, what will it cost to purchase?

Not sure most RV parks would allow you too be that wide do too pack them In
How cool is that concept of extra living area... Does it handle high winds when open ie; 95kph gusts....????
I like it very much. What is the price and how is it transported? Can it be opened so that we can put it in the container and transport it or not?
$265k

Very nice and I can imagine a very nice price attached lol
$300k on another thread.

Who falls off a wide platform while sitting on a chair? You suggest a lip on the edge, that sounds like a good trip hazard.
