So if I keep a trader/scout in pretty much every system I can kind of bait attacks into other factions, and then focus only on attacks in where I would care about losing assets? Why not simply build several fleets of 10-20 Asgards? I've not played 7.0 yet, but I'm pretty sure they can take apart any of these ravagers fairly quickly.
I tested that, 1 or 2 asgards is more than enough to decimate the ravagers, 10 is over kill and in high attention mode the asgards are more likely to nuke eachother with the ATF beam because the AI is wonky like that I had 3 fleets with 1 asgard and 4 destroyers mopping up the crisis waves, worked wonders

@@theslay66 Where is the 1 Billion from? I'm asking out of curiosity, because all i found when googling it was this: "The crisis will trigger upon reaching around half a billion in assets, most of which should be military. This is based on construction cost, i.e. not the monetary value you see in the Empire Menu." I'd love to have a more specific info about that. The thing is, if 'assets' count stations as well, i'd easily have several billions worth in every current game. I do however have no current save with over 350 million in ships shown in the empire menu. That consists of mainly miners, followed by freighters and basically just a few real combat fleets which aren't even that big so they should make the smallest portion even with the asgard as capital ship. I'm also pretty far away from 500.000.000 cash in every save which makes the details for accidently triggering the crisis even more important. Edit: I really don't know what to think about the option to trigger it that way and having to pay for opting out. I mean, it was announced as optional crisis, but as i see it, it's about as optional as: "Nice car! Pay me 1k bucks if it shall stay that way!" Which isn't exactly what i would call optional 😆
You mentioned docked threshers, I have still been using the Jian for this purpose. On the introduction of the Thresher I considered it a possible replacement, but have not been certain that the Thresher is better suited to this purpose than the Jian - even though have more turrets - because of their placement making the increased quantity useless in a docked position, or so my thinking was. Additionally ARG flak are a bit better than arc turrets, few enough people actually use this strategy that I am not sure it has been adequately tested. (this helps asgards and the erlking a lot too!) I am glad to see an analytical view on the new threat as well. I am looking to preparing the save for 7.0 and this helps a lot. do you know if the xenon are spawned in? or warped from elsewhere like going to a sector edge? Xenon are nearly extinct in my current save - I allowed them to keep Emperor's pride only and worry that terran intervention may eventually break them. I have seen torpedos make quick work of Ravagers as well in a somewhat messy carrier launched bomber squad, so I think maybe a small fleet of frigates may have the survivability and the attack range to handle these as well. May be worth testing. Another under investigated aspect of this game is it's mechanics behind custom start budgeting. Be it the money, crew points, knowledge and relationships, and universe state none of it has been covered well.
The tresher has 5 upward facing turrets and the Jian 6, if I got that right. And the tresher is way cheaper than the Jian. I tried the Osprey shortly with torpedoes, since they can tank the beams for a while. Mabye, I used too little of them to be effective so far. But I also saw that when torpedoes hit, they do good damage.
Yes, the Xenon are spawned in like Kha'ak are. It's part of a lot of negative feedback on the crisis breaking most of the rules of the game, where (Kha'ak/pirates excluded) everything is built or comes from somewhere.
@@Hlieyto I'm fine with it, at least for my current save since I have essentially already exterminated them, and that will leave me with few opportunities to get the new xenon ships otherwise.
@@immi9748 I think the osprey is bad here as well. A faster frigate (or corvette) such as a cobra or gorgon will be more able to get out of the line of fire of a turret or move out of range more effectively - the Osprey may be able to take more damage, but it's speed causes it to take much more damage in real combat scenarios that would otherwise be mitigated, I believe this applies to both in high attention and low attention modes.
