This is something I've been interested in for some time now, and I think this video is about to kick my bum into gear and make my first, one question from me is roughly how much media will be required to fill the flip top?
Hi, thanks for the video! Why did you add another extra filter? The grow medium should be enough right? Also, is a fiber not easier than add a filter in de bottom of the tank? Wierd question: to increase acid is urine also an option?
Hi there! 3" pvc with the end cap is the Moving part , I just put it inside the guard pipe on top of the stand pipe , exactly how I showed with plastic bottle.
I love the video but I feel you move too quickly through the part where you actually place the pump. I can’t see what goes inside or outside the container
What amount of pure liquid ammonia can be added to the water? also, can the ammonia de added while the fish is still in the water? I got tilapia from a close by lagoon but from 3 fishes i got just 1 survived. I used purified water on the barrel, since the tilapia are fresh water fish.
better cycle your system before adding the fish , ammonia is very toxic for the fish you can watch my this video more details: th-cam.com/video/Pmg5pL9LMcg/w-d-xo.html
I'm guessing, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong; but because of the size of the barrel this will limit the size that the fish stock would grow to?
Sir! My aquaponic project is almost done. It is around 95% complete. However, I cannot find the model of your water pump you showed in this video, let alone where to buy one. I really need your help, sir!
Correct me if i am wrong. The reason why there is no airpump introduced in this video is because the water following down from the grow bed created air bubble. Which is why there is no need for a air pump for the fish?
@@DIYGARDENWITHBB You installed a filter, what is it for? Wouldn't the pebble act as another kind of filter? I am exploring aquaponic, so i am still learning hope you don't mind me asking.
There is a filter to remove the fish poop and bio filter to clean the water from the toxic ammonia + grow media will filter the water , you need add the water that evaporated .
U hit a home run with this video man 🔥🔥
thanks .
Relaxing and educational, the best kind. Thank you.
Thank you .
This system is the best and easiest way I’ve watched a lot of videos finding out what to do and so far this is the one I’m going to use 👍
thanks
exactly what i was looking for
thank you
you're welcome
Nice!!!
It's awesome thank you for sharing 🙏
welcome
how often does pump running?
Great video. Can you tell me where I place the pump? I see it on the list of things to buy but can’t see in the video where you placed it
I placed it inside the fish tank.
@@DIYGARDENWITHBB Thanks for taking the time to reply - I appreciate it.
Great video - but - I have seen cases where fish poop may get caught in the grow medium. How do you avoid such an issue?
you can add a small filter , this system is running till now , so far it is doing fine.
How many days it took to grow the mint in the system?
can coco peat be used to replace clay pellets? its much cheaper
not recommended...
i want to ask if how many times you change water
I don't change the water I just clean the filter.
Does the barrel have to be food or fisb grade?
food grade
thank you
you're welcome

Hi there !
40 L about 17 kg .
All the best this great system to start Hydroponic garden.
@@DIYGARDENWITHBB, Cool, here in the UK I can buy a 45L bag for about UK£20, so it's not as expensive as I thought that might be :-)

i added filter to remove the hard waste , so the grow bed will be our bio filter .
yes urine in an option, i recommend to add 2 or 3 dead fish 🐠.
i dont understand the last part. Where did u insert the white pvc with the cap? into the siphon tube?
What is it for?
Hi there!
3" pvc with the end cap is the Moving part , I just put it inside the guard pipe on top of the stand pipe , exactly how I showed with plastic bottle.
How can you help me to start aquaponic tomato farming
where you from!
Can we grow seeds from a packet or should we sprout those first and then add them to the system?
the best germinate your seeds first then transfer them to the system.
Does that mean utilizing a hydroponic garden to create a 'starter-plant"?

How you manage your fish tank as grow bed is over the fish tank ?
there is two windows to feed the fish , clean...etc
I'm guessing, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong; but because of the size of the barrel this will limit the size that the fish stock would grow to?
That's a myth. They will outgrow.

where do you live ?
Are you malaysian?
Why cut up the black sponge filter instead of cutting them in disks instead?
I'm surprised the growing media doesn't clog the drain
the holes are smaller than the grow media.. that's why .
Correct me if i am wrong.

yes correct 💯

@@damienong1462 i used a filter to remove the hard waste, the pebbles can work as afilters but will getr dirty very fast.
Can I buy one already built lol
