People always ask me - what are the best plants to grow in aquaponics? In this video we discuss what plants I would avoid, and what plants I think you can make a profit on in an aquaponics system. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Pretty rad that you have us some warnings about plants that might not be worthwhile for people growing on a larger scale. I am not but I still would like to learn as much as possible
great advice ...and basil is my favorite
Great information. Thanks bro
You are a good instructor. Very informative e.
Thanks great and straight to the point information 👍
Great explanation son....well done!!
Lettuce, nak choy, leafy greens, kale, basil .. thank you for the valuable experience and knowledge.
Great video.
Possible for you to make a video, taking about
Getting fish for the first time for the water tank.
Type of water needed for aquaponics system.
Ratio of How many fish inside litres of water etc.
I planted legume beans once in a small basket on the side, it grew like mad and was producing more beans than I could eat lol, it's a mad crop if you have a place for it
Thanks for the video mite try some basil my dad used to grow this very easy bk in the day on a window ledge
Thank you so much for the great tips. I’ve converted a 25m swimming pool into an aquaponic system and I have no idea what I’m doing, but you do! You’ve saved me a lot of hard work! Cheers.
Cheers
We're converting our lap pool. How's yours doing?
Thank you for information
You’re welcome
Thanks for your valuable comments on Aquaponics
good info tnx
Of course
Thank you very helpful tips
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Wait a minute - I thought I was watching a wrong video - instead of what plant to grow - he started with what not to grow.
Anyway great video. Keep it up 👍
Yes for some root crops areoponics seem to be the best like potatoes but there's also iAVS "sandponics" corn and carrots do well in these systems along with other root crops plus the sand beds when done right are a solids filter/bio-filter, along with adding vital minerals that normal aquaponics is missing and a bunch of other stuff
There's also drz "dual root Zone" bags in a media bed work well and you can add additives that you wouldn't add into a fish system
I like that
Great Video, Does aquaponics really provide all nutrients needed for the leafy greens at least? Did you have the need to add nutrients to the system?
You need to add a few normally, the most important is probably iron. I have a video on that topic
hello sir, do you use geomembrane HDPE tarpaulin for your floating raft system
I am watching this video from Bangladesh.
Thanks, great video. Is it viable peppermint? (works also in cocktails, tee).
Yes
Just remember that all Mentha species & hybrids are thugs. You can easily grow mint. What is more difficult is growing other herbaceous plants if not completely isolated from the mint.
Is it viable to farm chili in aquaponic system?
Hallo saya dari indonesia. Saya akan banyak belajar dari anda
Do think a group of people could build a 30 story aquaponics skyscraper/vertical farm/grocery store in 10 years or do you think it's more like 20 or would a warehouse size be the biggest we'll get to?
Although I did see they're doing something similar in Singapore.
Yeah I think that’s very possible. People are already doing amazing stuff
I was from Singapore and can tell you that it is not financially feasible
@@siewmj1 hmm okay
Thanks for letting me know
Bro what of tomatoes please
Great insight, could you not grow carrots in sand and have a wicking action, if to many people grow the quick simple leafy greens would this not then drive your profits down, I'm in England so don't have the long growing seasons so a lot of places then need to use light, I've been toying with the idea once I have time to try out hydroponics but to grow root crops. 👍👍👍
Yes. I haven’t experimented much with wicking beds but am familiar. It’s all about cost/space ratio. You could probably make them work for you some way.
You’re right about the prices as well. Thing is not many people do it at all right now
@@NewAgrarian i can see people jumping on the band wagon for climate stuff and them telling us to reduce our meat intake i can see more people setting up in the hydro or aquaponics because they think its the next gold mine. Ive been following hydro for a while but never get time to give it a bash.👍
@@ricardo-iw9sq absolutely agree
7:20 basil. Love basil. Commercial grower here and basil grows like a weed in our system.
But marketing fresh basil is tough. It gets spotty in the fridge in about 3 days
Happens in a bag, or stored in the open.
How do you handle the one thing in my GH that makes me want pizza?
I wrap the stems of basil in a wet paper towel like a bouquet … will stay good for at least a week.
Can i ask you how you package your profit crops? We found once the lettuce is out of the water, it wilts pretty quickly. 🙌
I leave some of the roots on and wrap them around the Rockwool cube. Also tell customers a wet paper towel in the package will extend life
Is the quantity of water from the fish tank the same as the water on the grow beds?
Good question. Fish tanks are 1,800 gallons, beds are slightly more.
I've tried talking to family and some friends about aquaponics. What's s good way to talk to them without them being grossed out or worrying about your mental health? They don't understand the science behind how waste is converted into fertilizer and how it's safe when it comes to pathogens because fish don't carry Salmonella or E. Coli...
Show them this channel.. lol..
Hi I’ll like to get in contact with you I need som help on my aquaponic project I’m building.
Where do you get the floating beds styrofoam??? Thanks
Local hardware store
Ok I just wanted to make sure that we can use them. Thanks
Do you have a city nearby, where u can sell ure products?
Not at the moment, what are you looking for?
How about Water crest?
Don’t see why not
how about coriander?
Grows well
What about tomatoes to grow?
I like cherries, edox variety
How big is each raft
4x8
What about peppers and tomatoes.
They are good too. The leafy greens are just faster
There is a much better way to grow root crops with hydroponics... you have the potatoes suspended in the air and you spray water at the roots, this is called aeroponics, look it up
Can you grow potato
Yes in media beds
What's the size of your wrath is there a two by four or four by eight
4x8
Not bad but totally left out good plants to keep bugs away etc
Also totally ignored sand bed growing.
How did you manage to sell lettuce for $3 per head
Like every grocery store, only grown in front of people
@@NewAgrarian i see. $3 per head is actually quite affordable conpared to the retail price
Wasabi is a really profitable one
can u grow weed in aquaponics?
Yes
bruh said zucchini 😂
😂😂😂
$3 for one Bok Choy?! Who the heck pays that much?!
Lotta people
You look like a farmer! You can starve for two weeks and still live!
Love the positivity
