I think people are really missing the point of daisy playing this song specifically when she passed. It's not about romantic love. It's about losing a parent. She lost the person she thought her dad was before he started romantically liking her. She felt like an object. She was SHing and clearly at her breaking point even before Lisa said those things. Because her dad didn't love her the way a dad should. “It ended when i lost your love” it was about losing her dads FATHERLY love.
I think it could also mean about her mom, since her mom passed away she lost both of her parents love, her mom by being not alive and her dad by starting to view her in a twisted way
The saddest part is that theres lots of girls, and boys, going through what Daisy went through, in real life. That's what makes me the most angry, and sad, about this scene.
She was being molested by her dad that's why she would hide food under her bed hoping the bad smell would make him not want to get in her bed with her.
Cats are very intelligent. They always know when something is wrong. As a “cat dad” that part always bugged me. As a dad, I felt terrible that Daisy’s dad was such a prick to her and that she ended up taking her own life. Suicide is terrible.
The scariest thing about Lisa's behaviour on seeing daisy suicide is not her lack of remorse but that She has a slight moment of delight when she realises the control she has over the whole situation that's sociopaths for you. Incredible acting from both Winona and Angelina. Watch again and see Lisa's sinister delight.

The cat adds a great sense of reality and sadness to the scene; in many cases i've seen where a person took their own lives, and they had pets, the pets always showed a concerned behaviour about what happened, it's just so sad, they're so innocent and they don't have any idea of what's going on. This scene is so realistic in many levels, as a person who dealt with the death of friends and relatives, it was the same exact proccess. This scene is really hard to watch because i also have many thoughts about ending everything. But i keep my head up and try not to think much about it, but sometimes it's hard not to.

This movie regarding BPD & seeing 2 different sides of the diagnose made it so much easier for me to understand. Both girls had been diagnosed but no one had been "strong enough" to face Lisa because that would mean telling her something (or in this case the "truth") of why she deserves to k*ll herself. We all as humans have an innate understanding of what feels right & wrong. In reality, who is anyone to play god? Narcissism is part of the symptoms in dealing with BPD, which is why both Lisa and Susanna were fitting characters to say it in the end. In this case Lisa felt she was always right & "free" of the "normal" world because she has the balls to say the truth. But part of being human is having humanity, even for the people who may be "stupid, ignorant" or any other negative trait the ego can manifest to make itself feel superior. The part that Lisa fails to understand about her "gift" or rather her trauma response (how she's learned to survive in society ) is that her ego (narcism) has deemed it unnecessary to treat people kindly or with respect because it doesn't get you anything extra. As we see earlier in the movie Lisa pushes Daisy's buttons just to receive drugs as well all to end up making fun of her condition something she's deeply ashamed about, foreshadowing they all need help and badly. This movie is a masterpiece and allowed me to feel seen as a woman who struggles to this length of mental health issues. It shows, how easy it is to slip into these patterns and lies we web ourselves in to pretend to make it okay. Lisa claims to live a "free" life yet always ends up recaptured by the police intending to return to the facility, she knows deep down she can't make it on her own out there and is heavily dependent on the facility as her "home". Lisa's diagnoses is dangerous however, as it deteriorates anyone involved even if that means pushing someone to k*ll themselves ..for money. I feel for both Lisa and Susanna's perspectives and it's interesting we see Susanna decide to write out her feelings, a therapeutic tactic often used to treat BPD resulting from paranoia built around not being able to trust the world and authoritative figures. We see how Lisa finally comes to the realization of accountability by understanding how other's decisions to hold the truth was the ultimate act of compassion towards her. A sliver of warmth immediately put to the test when deciding if she's going to be weak and stay in that facility for life, or strong by choosing to swallow her words and her pride. We see how toxic the friendship can be when those two team up against the world ... like 2 mirrors facing themselves. In my opinion, this was the only way the two could understand their own behaviors.
I hate to be reductive, but a lot of the themes in this film are more to do with the mental health institution being very dismissive of a variety of women's issues + how and why they develop mental health problems - some of them not even being mentally ill, like the woman who was just there for being a lesbian. The mental hospital itself is used as a place to dump troubled women who nobody can be bothered trying to sincerely understand. This is kinda why it's set in the 60s Historically, and unfortunately still today, BPD has been used as the new "female hysteria" diagnosis. It's often just a label to slap on women who have a lot of complex baggage. Women in the mental health system are often seen as the "worried well" and their problems are treated as if they're just overreactions. This is not to say that BPD isn't a real and severe mental illness, but the fact that the two characters that are wildly different, are both diagnosed with it, leads me to believe that it's probably more about a commentary of the use of BPD as a "female hysteria" diagnosis. This is more consistent with the overall tone of the film

I had a dream about this scene yesterday night I think then the morning of that same day I found out my friend committed suicide in almost the same way daisy did.
I had something similar. Not too long ago I was planning on killing myself but then one night I had a dream about my brother committing suicide. The dream felt very real and eerie and I cried for days after. I think it was my subconscious telling me I shouldn’t do it because it showed me that how horrible I felt in both my dream and after would be the same feeling my close relatives would go through. This dream is horrible to remember but it’s forcing me not to kill myself. It doesn’t make me any happier though because now I’m fully stuck. I also want to say I’m so sorry for your loss and I hope you get through it. I’m also very sorry if this comment was wrong please let me know but I wanted to put it out there

Intense therapy. Address your triggers and learn healthy coping mechanisms. I’m not sure all of the details, I have bipolar disorder with hypomania and schizoaffective. A mix of a good mood stabilizer and therapy helps me tremendously. My ex had BPD. And it was very very difficult, there’s nothing I could’ve done for her and nothing I did was correct, even following what she would tell me would set her off less. It’s up to the individual, she isn’t a bad person. But if you continue to dodge treatment and continue to do nothing about it, then you have to take responsibility for you never changing and possibly damaging relationships long term. There’s an old southern saying “wish in one hand a shit in the other and see which one fills up first”

I wrote this comment only 3 months ago when I was on a downward spiral, and I had to admit to myself that maybe I did need meds, that therapy alone just wasn't working for me. It's so different for everyone so the hardest part is just figuring out what you need. Once you know that, treatment gets much easier, to put things easily lol. I feel much better than I did when I wrote that comment and so stable in my relationships (or at least normal and not extremely worried). I just thought I'd leave an update because I feel like so many people only post bad experiences and nobody knows that it's possible to recover. And for the record (this is directed toward anyone lol, not you specifically), relapsing in your mental health, addiction, etc, is not a sign of failure whatsoever. The average person relapses 7 times before complete long-term recovery. Don't let relapse be your sign to give up, let it be your sign that you're getting closer to your goal. And it definitely makes it easier if you don't use it as an excuse to spiral even worse

Better answer: when people experience something painful or some kind of traumatic upbringing with unhealthy dynamics in the home, they often shut out the more innocent part of themselves to protect it from becoming more damaged. That's the thing with trauma people tend to miss is that there are layers to healing because of deeply ingrained beliefs that you acquire from the original wound. In the case of what looks like sociopathy there is a deep feeling of "who cares about anyone else? No one gave a shit about me." kind of thing. If no one cares about me and my pain? Well why would it be so bad to screw anyone else over? It's not so much about getting anything as much as its almost hoping someone will see their pain through what they're doing. It's like asking to be saved. But then some ask, "But when I try to help them or express concern they get pissy!" And it's like Duh! Because they are - from their perspective - protecting themselves from pain or from getting close to the pain they're already living with.

What would have been above the bathtub and shower that she could have reached and tied her robe tie around to support her weight? I’ve never seen anything above a tub except a light? Also you notice blood on her hands and the puddle on the floor beneath her. So she really wanted to die that morning as she chose two different options. Intense therapy. Address your triggers and learn healthy coping mechanisms. I’m not sure all of the details, I have bipolar disorder with hypomania and schizoaffective. A mix of a good mood stabilizer and therapy helps me tremendously. My ex had BPD. And it was very very difficult, there’s nothing I could’ve done for her and nothing I did was correct, even following what she would tell me would set her off less. It’s up to the individual, she isn’t a bad person. But if you continue to dodge treatment and continue to do nothing about it, then you have to take responsibility for you never changing and possibly damaging relationships long term. There’s an old southern saying “wish in one hand a shit in the other and see which one fills up first”

I wrote this comment only 3 months ago when I was on a downward spiral, and I had to admit to myself that maybe I did need meds, that therapy alone just wasn't working for me. It's so different for everyone so the hardest part is just figuring out what you need. Once you know that, treatment gets much easier, to put things easily lol. I feel much better than I did when I wrote that comment and so stable in my relationships (or at least normal and not extremely worried). I just thought I'd leave an update because I feel like so many people only post bad experiences and nobody knows that it's possible to recover. And for the record (this is directed toward anyone lol, not you specifically), relapsing in your mental health, addiction, etc, is not a sign of failure whatsoever. The average person relapses 7 times before complete long-term recovery. Don't let relapse be your sign to give up, let it be your sign that you're getting closer to your goal. And it definitely makes it easier if you don't use it as an excuse to spiral even worse

Better answer: when people experience something painful or some kind of traumatic upbringing with unhealthy dynamics in the home, they often shut out the more innocent part of themselves to protect it from becoming more damaged.
That's the thing with trauma people tend to miss is that there are layers to healing because of deeply ingrained beliefs that you acquire from the original wound.
In the case of what looks like sociopathy there is a deep feeling of "who cares about anyone else? No one gave a shit about me." kind of thing.
If no one cares about me and my pain? Well why would it be so bad to screw anyone else over? It's not so much about getting anything as much as its almost hoping someone will see their pain through what they're doing.
It's like asking to be saved. But then some ask, "But when I try to help them or express concern they get pissy!" And it's like Duh! Because they are - from their perspective - protecting themselves from pain or from getting close to the pain they're already living with.
Who knows? 🤷

Okay but what was daisy actually hanging on? It wasn’t the shower curtain railing. What would have been above the bathtub and shower that she could have reached and tied her robe tie around to support her weight? I’ve never seen anything above a tub except a light? Also you notice blood on her hands and the puddle on the floor beneath her. So she really wanted to die that morning as she chose two different options. She used her dad’s razor blades and then hanged herself. But I still wish I knew what she tied the other end of the tie to way up high off screen?!
