Definitely the right decision in your case. The VHT had a fuller sound for sure. I have run the Mesa 2:90 (with EL34s in the Class A positions) and the Marshall EL34 100/100. I have always preferred the sound of EL34s myself.
The VHT seems to be the more flat, with the Mesa you have that classic coloration, a classic love/hate thing. I love Mesa and I've ever used Mesa, from the Rectos, Quad, Studio preamps and a Mark IV, but in this case in my opinion the VHT sounds better.
I completly agree! I loved my Mesa 50/50 as a liverig! For the studio rig, I wanted a more neutral poweramp ! Thanks for your comment ! Rock On / Gear On! I will probably make a playthrough MarkIV video! Killer Amp!
@@bougear This could be it, it sounded to me like there is some auto audio leveling but it was working quite slow so it made a weird effect like a slow tremolo. I have never heard of this option, where can i disable it? :)
The VHT CLASSIC is another beast unto itself🤘
The 295 sounds better for me !
As a clean sound guy I much prefered VHT. I have Mesa 50:50 (blue diode), but I would love to hear VHT2150 and 2902 in its place one day.
Both those amps ruled the 80's.
2150 sounds much fuller and better for me.

try the mesa 395, this will blow everything else out of the water
Negative chif the 295 is the best power amp mesa boogie ever built, best 3D tone of them all and I even like it better than the 2150
i wish the audio was not fucked up :(
Maybe it's the stable volume option on your youtube setting player. I just noticed that mine was ON previously, and sounded very weird.
