I totally agree with your comment. Mine metal holder snapped out and i couldn't figure out how it was placed since i had restricted access to this area both visually and phisically. So i was able to figure out how its suppose to be placed and managed to put it back in the place somehow together with bulb. Thanks for this video!
Advide for the sidelight bulb...holy $#it, did i had a hard time removing it, i thought it was glued. If there are any other unfortunates like me, don't just pull it towards you, try to twist it a few times until it looseness up and pull it towards your at the same time, but loosen it first by twisting it.
Excellent!, the best video of more than 200 that I had to review to change the bulbs of my VW 2007 Rabbit 4 doors. Clear, precise, intelligent. Thank you very much for your time and help. Raphael Lorenzo. Miami Florida.
Easy if you can get your hands in or remove the headlights but those mains and a stuck side light are incredibly difficult to deal with if you can't remove parts or the bumper/headlights
My front right sidelight is stuck in place. I can get the left one out, but not the right. There is no space to get leverage or for a gripping tool to be used. I really don't want to pay to get it done.
What this doesn’t show is all the parts that have been removed in the engine bay to allow easy access. To get to the LHS lights on a RHD Golf Tdi mk5 the air filter housing sits right behind and does not allow you to get your hand in, unless you have the hands of a 3 year old!
@@screwsnutsandbolts also quick question man! I've just tried taking my sidelight out but it's sooo difficult to take out. It just won't budge :( any suggestions?
Nice video. I watched it before changing my dipped beam bulbs. However, I can’t get the RH one to fit back in. The bulb (H7) goes into its holder OK but then won’t engage properly in the headlamp fitting. The LH one is OK. Is there a trick or is my headlamp broken?
The little metal part where the clip hooks into on the holder can get bent out of shape and the spring clip won't hook onto it. Tha happened with me once
@@screwsnutsandbolts Cheers for the reply. Is it a simple case of bending it back with pliers or pushing it back with a screwdriver or something? I managed to take a picture with my phone and can see the metal bit sticking out. Maybe I should get a secondhand headlamp if I can’t do it. There’s one locally for £25.
I would assume both indicators use the same fuse but I could be wrong. You can find the fuse diagrams here: fuse-box.info/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-v-mk5-2004-2009-fuses-and-relay
Hi I’ve come across your video when I struggled to change my main beam lights (middle light). The problem on this was that the power adapter doesn’t come off so in that situation what’s best to do?
The only way is to keep wiggling it back and forward until it comes off the back of the bulb I'm afraid. They can really get stuck on there, as you can see.
@@screwsnutsandbolts thanks for that I shall try that. I would also like to ask that I have put in LED sidelights and the right one works but the left one doesn’t. How can I come across to fix that ?
God someone help please…in the picture the first bulb you’re changing is the headlight dip beam bulb NOW this is the bulb that’s gone in my mk5 but I’m thoroughly confused because the set up to mine is the other way round!!! To get to my dip beam bulb you remove a rubber cap then have to remove the wiring connector and clips as you’ve shown in your video but for the headlight main bulb! I’ve removed the bulb replaced with a new one from Halfords and it’s still not working….what have I done wrong?!!
Is your Golf not a Euro 5 because when i turn on my headlights, its the outer lamps that come on and you describe these as dip lights and its inner light that includes the side light, are off, and only comes on when I dip the headlights. Either yours are the other way around or mine. Why is this? I'm baffled and you can help.

You have got to love them for making it easy - other manufacturers take note !
Absolutely!
The dips/indicators yes the sides and mains nope too much stuff in the way on Mk5 tdi to get your hands in
But great video though

At 3:51 it looks like there are two sidelight bulbs? Is that just a reflection or something?
Yes that's just a reflection on the other side of the lens :)

Are the steps the same for a 2009 vw gti? Specifically the indicator bulb
If it's a Mk6 Golf it's probably slightly different to this but I haven't worked on one so I don't know for sure, sorry

Yes they are on this model Golf

Are the bulb types same for the mk5 gti ?
I would expect so but I'm not 100% certain. You'll probably have to take them out to confirm
Tomorrow I am going to change it by myself. Please pray for me 😂
can i use 100w h7 bulb
