Minor correction. You don't have yo be born *in* the US, just born with US citizenship. John McCain was born on an air base abroad, and Ted Cruz still was born in Canada (and still Canadian until a few years ago)
Sorry, wrong. A naturalized citizen cannot be President. Period. See Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. McCain, a child of American parents, was born on a U.S. Naval Air Station in the Canal Zone in 1936. At the time the CZ was considered U.S. Territory but the citizenship status of children born there to American parents was legally murky due to applicable federal law in 1936, the year McCain was born. In fact, his American citizenship status was not formally established until he was 11 months old. It would have been interesting to see if there would’ve been legal challenges to McCain being elected president. But I expect the only person who’d do that is Trump, because that’s the way that doofus rolls.

@@pjmlegrande apparently McCain actually might be the one disqualified by the "Natural born citizen" requirement. I love you guys, and this was yet another great interview with the great man, but no one is asking the question I'm dying to hear Arnold answer: Did he hear Bill Burr's stand-up bit about him, and what'd he think of it?
Yes change that rule in the constitution and make it very specific that a German speaking Austrian Mr. Olympia with acting experience and governing experience of a big state, in fact is allowed to become president of the United States!
Right. A German speaking Austrian who idolizes Ronald Reagan in spite of (because of?) his corrupt actions and policies. Reagan: -illegally sold arms to fund the CIA overthrow of Nicaragua's government because he didn't like them, -busted the air traffic controllers union, -struck a deal with Iranian leaders to delay release of hostages until after the election to prevent Jimmy Carter from winning, -infiltrated the Screen Actors Guild and other Hollywood organizations then secretly snitched to the FBI by giving them names of people he deemed "communists," -launched a racist "war on drugs" that forced poor black Americans into long "mandatory minimum" prison sentences for non-violent infractions ("in 1971, the same year Nixon launched his drug war, he was recorded sharing laughs with California Gov. Ronald Reagan as they call Africans “monkeys” and “cannibals.” Later, as president, Reagan put Nixon’s drug war and mass incarceration on steroids." www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-07-21/the-war-on-drugs-was-always-about-race) And here's Conan gushing over the Austrian and assuring him that he's "adored by people on the left and the right." I don't adore him. This podcast made me wanna barf.
Yeah, it's ridiculous, Arnold has so much experience in governing, bipartisanship, genuine concern for people, he's literally an American Icon I find it silly that someone who has contributed THAT much to American culture cannot become president just because he was an immigrant.
@@Peter-jo6yu the hypothetical thing is that all former presidents were offspring of immigrants! No indigenous person has become a president to my knowledge!

I appreciated the Jan 6 video and the Ukraine video. But he really lost me when he started praising Reagan of all people. Reagan started much of what is happening now. He SOAKED politics in corporate money. He also grew the government and didn’t make it smaller like many pretend. He also helped violent dictators….. Horrible horrible president.
Reagan was elected by every single state save Minnesota, which happened to be the home of the other candidate. He is quite literally the most unifying president there ever was. You may disagree with choices he made from today's lens, but it's not an incorrect statement.
@@dannykent6190I voted for him both times. Yeah, he made some mistakes and yeah he did some things that were shady, but he was light years better than the current batch of Republicans and of course trump.
He has contributed so much more to American culture, has a bipartisan mindset, genuine concern for people, experience in governing, and is literally an American icon. I find it frankly silly that he cannot become president due to being an immigrant Maybe there could be an amendment to that law, an immigrant who has resided in the US for decades, has contributed significantly to the US can run for president.
@@Peter-jo6yuIt’s a stupid law based on old puritanical anti-British bigotry. The world and American has changed in the last 240 years. The whole Constitution needs ripping up and starting from scratch; can’t keep adding or removing amendments.
"Yeah, I go back in time, punch Benjamin Franklin in the neck, turn to the camera, take the cigar out of my mouth and say....Now that's a Bill of fights."
Yikes,..Ronald Reagan was a nightmare for people in the Arts. He ended all funding for the arts. Large arts granting organizations lost their government funding. Reagan was all about that broken system called Trickle-down economics,.....which sounded good except it didn't work correctly. I was working for an art gallery that got it's matched funding from the US government. It ended abruptly and myself and all my friends in the arts, we lost our jobs, positions, and federal grant money. Luckily I was qualified for food stamps.
Yep. Reagan was also a union infiltrator, union buster, and switched about supposed "communists." An horrible person. But he's Arnie's kinda guy. This was a gross podcast.
I believe he could have been president. The rule about being born here is too restrictive, imo, considering that the country was founded by immigrants. However, he has still had an amazing life in comparison to almost everyone on the planet.
The actor turned politician likes the actor turned politician. Regan was not a good guy. He was just the political front man for corporations who could play the part. Stock buy backs were considered stock manipulation before Regan made it legal. The FCC abolished the fairness doctrine in 1987 under Regan. This would pave the way for Fox News. He was anti-union and class war soldier for the bourgeois and either ignorant or bad, or both, people hold him up as a example of what a American politician should be. I'm sure people in the in group during a Regan presidency had a great time. You were high on lead and cocaine, houses, tuition, and cost of living were easily affordable. Regan was Rome in its hey day. You can use fossil fuels and plastics with reckless abandonment. That was the sugar high America was on for decades and now it turns out all that comes at a cost. Running up a bill the next generations have to pay. Don't act like you wouldn't have done it too. Just because we didn't have the opportunity to doom future babies doesn't mean we wouldn't have. Were not better just the timing was off.
Just mentally compare Arnold with Kevin McCarthy. I think 100% of people can see and hear the difference pretty much immediately. And not just because of the muscles and the accent.

I don’t agree with him on Reagan, but everything else is spot on
I can't get past his idolization of Reagan, one of the most corrupt and anti-populist presidents ever. It says a lot about who, and what, Arnold is.
I love you guys, and this was yet another great interview with the great man, but no one is asking the question I'm dying to hear Arnold answer: Did he hear Bill Burr's stand-up bit about him, and what'd he think of it?
Conan I’m so impressed with your hair. My second favorite thing about you!
The best interview....
From Mr.body builder to movie star and Governor to f### the maid😂😂
Hippie Arnold: “it’s all groooovy” 😂
Yes change that rule in the constitution and make it very specific that a German speaking Austrian Mr. Olympia with acting experience and governing experience of a big state, in fact is allowed to become president of the United States!
Right. A German speaking Austrian who idolizes Ronald Reagan in spite of (because of?) his corrupt actions and policies. Reagan:
-illegally sold arms to fund the CIA overthrow of Nicaragua's government because he didn't like them,
-busted the air traffic controllers union,
-struck a deal with Iranian leaders to delay release of hostages until after the election to prevent Jimmy Carter from winning,
-infiltrated the Screen Actors Guild and other Hollywood organizations then secretly snitched to the FBI by giving them names of people he deemed "communists,"
-launched a racist "war on drugs" that forced poor black Americans into long "mandatory minimum" prison sentences for non-violent infractions
("in 1971, the same year Nixon launched his drug war, he was recorded sharing laughs with California Gov. Ronald Reagan as they call Africans “monkeys” and “cannibals.” Later, as president, Reagan put Nixon’s drug war and mass incarceration on steroids."
www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-07-21/the-war-on-drugs-was-always-about-race)
And here's Conan gushing over the Austrian and assuring him that he's "adored by people on the left and the right."
I don't adore him. This podcast made me wanna barf.
Yeah, it's ridiculous, Arnold has so much experience in governing, bipartisanship, genuine concern for people, he's literally an American Icon
I find it silly that someone who has contributed THAT much to American culture cannot become president just because he was an immigrant.
@@Peter-jo6yu the hypothetical thing is that all former presidents were offspring of immigrants! No indigenous person has become a president to my knowledge!
Every fan who likes Conan because he does not talk about politics: *shocked pikachu*
I'm one of those fans. I'm hoping this is as far as he goes with political talk because it sounds kind of establishment to me. But then I didn't (and won't) listen to Arnold's speeches so I can't judge.
YES! Fulfill the the demolition man prophecy. Arnold for President, Taco Bell is fine dining and hit me up with those 3 sea shells!
Conan Conan 2024!
We change....Yes...The constitution! lol Didn't expect that.
What's A Matta, Ellsworth, Franklin, Gorham, Hamilton, Johnson, King, Madison, Morris, Randolph, Rutledge, Washington, and Wilson, The Philadelphia Convention's got you, pushing too many quills?
Do they ever release full videos? Or just clips to promo the podcast? Would love to see entire vids of these interviews.
Banging his maid in their marital bed. What an icon. Bravo Arnie. A real class act.
One day, back in the 1930's, they had no news and they just played kittens and music.
Make America that again
The eyebrows chose the wrong side of the north-south conflict on this dude’s head
Conan could unite the country, unite us into giving ourselves permanent hearing loss.
Gimmie Dat Qhueel ! hahaha TBH that would be an awesome parody sketch / Movie.
I admire Arnold as an action hero and environmental advocate, but I find very little to commend in his politics.
To think of Reagan as a good figure to have "brought the country together"... Jesus
@@PetersonSilvaPoor Conan having to nod along to that bollocks. 😔
@@benjamindeavenport5980 Reagan and current republicans are both horrible groups tho
WE DONT HAVE A DEMOCRACY
Thank God for that.
Arnie should be allowed to run for the president IMHO. He's more American then both previous US presidents together.
He has contributed so much more to American culture, has a bipartisan mindset, genuine concern for people, experience in governing, and is literally an American icon.
I find it frankly silly that he cannot become president due to being an immigrant
Maybe there could be an amendment to that law, an immigrant who has resided in the US for decades, has contributed significantly to the US can run for president.
@@Peter-jo6yuIt’s a stupid law based on old puritanical anti-British bigotry. The world and American has changed in the last 240 years. The whole Constitution needs ripping up and starting from scratch; can’t keep adding or removing amendments.
@@Peter-jo6yu right ? Another option could be to allow an immigrant who was a governor of one of the US state to run for presidency afterwards .
"Yeah, I go back in time, punch Benjamin Franklin in the neck, turn to the camera, take the cigar out of my mouth and say....Now that's a Bill of fights."
Really glad Conan put on a tie to interview a former Governor of the largest US state and international film icon.
Arnold is hilarious
He had me right up until the Reagan bit.
Love Arnie. Love Conan and crew. But Reagan love? Nope 👎
Conan went a bit silent on that one.
He had a grim look on that one.
Seriously. Reagan, who screwed over unions and the economy and that's just for starters, is Arnies hero? Gross.
@@sissasternHope he stays silent on politics. Kinda sucks that he's cozying up to the Reagan fan club.
@@bmyra he's said many times that he prefers his show and comedy to be evergreen, so I doubt he will ☺️
Need more, it’s too short
The fact we won't see a President Schwarzenegger will always be one of the worst aspects of this timeline.
I think Arnold would’ve been a great president. He has experience being a kindergarten cop.
@@bmyra agreed, Reagan started the downward spiral resulting in what we have now. Capitalism run amok.
Arnold tell conan to LEAD me to a billion dollars
I believe he could have been president. The rule about being born here is too restrictive, imo, considering that the country was founded by immigrants. However, he has still had an amazing life in comparison to almost everyone on the planet.
The fact that he praises Reagan makes me a bit sick. I mean, Arnold is a clever guy, and yet he can still be wrong headed. Such a shame.
Left out his war on drugs, Iran-Contra, & lack of response to the AIDS epidemic.
Just mentally compare Arnold with Kevin McCarthy. I think 100% of people can see and hear the difference pretty much immediately. And not just because of the muscles and the accent.
Great job MR. CONAN ... LOVE YOU 💖 Miss Sona ... can't tell you how much I enjoy you and your personality plus you're beautiful 🤩🙏✌️ Great guest in Mr. S. (Didn't want to spell it wrong 💋) LOVE Y'ALL
despite the length, his last name pretty much spells like it sounds lol! Schwarzenegger
I don’t know, feels like it’s missing a couple of t’s and maybe an extra ch sound in there somewhere (;
it is people Like his! Latenight show has credibility Like😮
The Editor…. yeeeeaaaaaaa…..
GOD bless Them all
Run for president, meet Arnie. If i was in the USA i'd be doing it.
Terminator -- Independence Day
All I know is that we can't let rich people run things anymore. They have utter contempt for the average American, and they will never have our best interests at heart.
Gourley, I just realized you appeared on Community, please respond.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger was vetoing bills that would have legalized same-sex marriage? Good times, what a great guy.
Given the best the Republican party has to offer now, I don't blame anyone for looking back on him fondly
@@garaj1 True but doesn't excuse him
And the gays are doing everything that people said they would: indoctrinating children
I’m sorry you couldn’t marry your husband back then, but the Republicans do far worse things then what a marriage veto would do.
Look at how well letting those lifestyles take over society has gone for us these days.
4:01 I love Arnold but Conan smiling and nodding through a grimace at “Ronald Reagan brought America back” ooh gurl I feel that .. the more time that goes by the more we understand that Reagan truly screwed this country and it all started with him
I agree with Conan's praise of Arnold speaking out about political matters and discussing his "bipartisan" approach to being Governor but Arnold's "praise" for Nixon and Reagan gave me whiplash. The "War on Drugs", deregulation, Reaganomics, and general political history have shown how flawed the policies of both those presidents were. /shrug
I agree. Reagan waged war on the middle and poorer classes. And he won. Arnold heaps praise on Reagan and Conan heaps praise on Arnold. An establishment group hug.
"... and finally, we found a leader in Ronald Reagan, and he brought America back."
... Yeah... Any credibility you may have had just took a nosedive, bud.
Well, where is Arnold been on putting out an announcement on people protesting in the capital now? While there’s a vote going on for speaker of the house.
