I definitely don't think there's much time left on the Xbox 360, especially the marketplace - I can't imagine it'll be up longer than 2024. And with the issues I had playing online in this video, the games clearly aren't doing too much to support the online experience. There also can't be many Blades or NXE dashboard consoles left out in the wild. Sad times 😢
I know it sucks I loved my old 360 slim
Reply here if you have a blades or NXE dashboard console - I'm curious how many are still out there
I hope it’s not shutting down yet because there are some Xbox Live Arcade games I want to get
@@ThisGuyDannyyybetter get ‘em soon, the marketplace is certainly on its way out

My dad got me my Xbox 360 Christmas 2005. That original 360 eventually got red-ringed, but I sent it into Microsoft for “repairs” and they sent me the Jasper. I still have that Jasper, got the thermal paste redone too. Still love playing it. Thank you dad.
Is Jasper the original Xbox 360 with the HDMI port? So that was more reliable than the original Xbox 360s without the HDMI port?

I honestly think they shouldn't shut down the 360 servers or console in general. It's a piece of classic history that shouldn't be lost, they need to preserve it
Tell that to greedy Microsoft who don’t even have humans when you call. Sick company and I’m really glad I got rid of my series X. I will always love old school Xbox but they changed too much. RIP
If it doesn’t represent them any profit they’ll shut it down mate :/

Even IF that happens a fan project would probably keep it going.
When u play 360 backwards compatible games it connects to xbox 360 live, pretty sure they won't shut it down
Fun fact: if you want to experience the blades dashboard in a small form get the xbox live arcade compilation disc.
Oh that’s a great idea, I’m gonna have to buy that
@jrob0021 yeah it's a nifty disc with some cool games

The 360 was my first ever console, I’ve used it since 2009/10. It lasted for a couple of years, it finally red ringed in 2018. It no longer worked, but I still had those good times playing Kinect Party, that tiger game, and watching Netflix.
People do play MW2, but they broke the servers when they tried to make it backwards compatible. You need to restart the game like 20 times to get into a lobby. The community was very healthy before backwards compatibility. The same issue is with most COD games now.
If you own a Korean copy of the game it will boot up the USA and you might get a lobby for the us ( I know because I bought it for 3 bucks at a game store even on one)
theyre fixed now with microsoft's acquisition of cod. thye fixed all the servers on xbox 360 cod games
@@Condznseother 360 games work now too like Gears Of War 1 & Team Fortress 2
They’ve fixed them recently because of adding call of duty to game pass
@@Rleatfitnessoh so that's why it's back
My first home console was the N64, but the 360 is probably the first one I bought for myself. I got it to play Halo 3, so I did have blades dashboard for a while. It was really cool! Best dashboard, I'm still baffled that they got rid of it. I also had the Halo CE theme, it gave the guide blade a really cool dark blue textured background. I still have a 360 downstairs, I don't pay for gold anymore, but I use it for offline games sometimes.
They aren't really giving away 360 games with gold anymore, it was nice getting up to four games a month that'd then be yours forever - Xbox one and series games from the program still need active membership to Xbox live gold.😢
Mine was the wii
*Imagine buying a console and It doesn't need to update itself first* 😮
I mean, technically it did back when it was still supported by Microsoft
Cough ps3 cough not saying it sucks but the updates were abundant there
@@maxforce1259 it technically still is. The console still gets updates, as well as games for it.
I got my 360 just a few weeks before Skyrim released back in 2011, I must’ve been 8 or 9 years old and my dad preordered Skyrim for me. Little did I know that game would blow my little kid mind and I would still be playing it 12 years later
sky rim isn't for kids, your dad should be ashamed of himself for letting you play that under 18
Xbox 360 pretty much hit the mark where consoles were finally as good as they needed to get.. don't get me wrong the upgrades have been nice but if the 360 was still all we had I'm convinced the world would still be happy enough, and we would still be playing plenty of innovative and creative games.
Should have kept the ui
@@imonke5303Ikr, then expanded on it, nowadays console ui is a mess, like you cna only really go left, right, up and down, but they be putting buttons in most difficult places to reach

I actually JUST bought a 360 again this year for some older games, I love every second playing it. Hope Microsoft keeps it alive awhile longer
Would probably say this is my favourite ever console (even though I grew up with PS1 and PS2). For me HD gaming was the biggest leap in gaming and when I played the 360 for the first time in my local game store, I couldn’t believe the graphics. Was incredibly. Plus, the controller was dam near perfect in my eyes.
Same here, except (even as a 35 year old man) I did not get my first Xbox 360 til 2019. It is a shame if they shut down the servers any time soon, because I just started getting used to it. My old PS2 however will live on forever! (before anyone says, what if your PS2 breaks, I have about 5 or 6 of them laying around as backup!)
Seeing this reminds me that we are all getting older..... dont know how to feel about that, never thought I would feel this way...
Same im 23 I'll be 24 this year
Why do people seem to forget about the OG Kinect Dashboard that originally came out in 2010? Design wise, it was this nice hybrid between the NXE & the latest 360 dashboard we have now
I totally forgot that there definitely was dashboard that come out around that time
Speaking of Kinect i still have 2 and they work perfectly still or if i play Sonic free riders Greatly.
because most of us try to block out the kinect
@@charg1nmalaz0r51 "Xbox?" "My Games"
I STILL have the Kinect sensor after 10 years.
The crazy thing is that in most cases buying disks is cheaper than buying the digital game. They clearly want people to buy the digital versions otherwise they would have stopped selling them, but selling them for more than a disk (that is in good condition) is not good marketing.
Activision's greed knows no bounds lol.
@@roflBeck It is not just Activision doing this.
I think their pricing is fine. XB did a lot of work making games Backwards plus they aren't just one to one, they're upscaled and look great. Also to my surprise the BC titles ended up in my library on XB1X and now they even carried over to the series consoles. I look at allowing discs as an additional feature, more like if you have the disc then go for it. But honestly they need something in return on all the work they did, it's impressive and I don't feel cheated in any way. Although I would like my Afterburner Climax to carry over but that one is stuck on 360.
@@oblivieon1567 That is not what we are talking about. We are talking about xbox 360 games on Xbox 360.
@@gatorrade1680stop being like this.... its not just xbox 360
I got my Xbox in 2009 as well. I remember because MW2 was the newest CoD at the time. So many fun memories playing Halo 3, Reach, and Black Ops. Mine still works (also Jasper), but it's sitting in my closet collecting dust.
I also remember being mind blown by GTA V, it was the first game I played that HAD to install a bunch of data from its disk to run on 360. It was the very tail end of the 360 era so it had to pull some tricks to look as good as it did.
It’s crazy that you mention playing the Just Cause 2 demo because I specifically remember playing that over and over as a kid until I could finally buy the game. And I discovered the game by seeing a friend’s older brother playing the demo at their house lol
So, did Microsoft actually say they were killing off the 360 ? The thing is, backwards compatibly on the modern consoles, it's emulation based but, it does depend on the 360 services to run these games. I wonder how Microsoft will handle this one...
EA are shutting down the servers for their Battlefield games
They haven't officially announced the marketplace shutting down (other than the leak from a few months ago...), but I think it's pretty clear that the marketplace is on it's way out, just a matter of time until they officially announce. Online game shutting down will likely be a case by case basis.
@@jrob0021 the marketplace, sure,i mean its getting harder to actually get games, but the servers should stay up,orherwise people will loose access to games they paid for.
They would only take down the 360 marketplace. If you play a 360 game on a modern console or XCloud, the features & DLC should be able to stay the same. That's why any Xbox has full backwards compatibility with all its predecessors. Either have the physical versions or use game pass.
@@sirkredrum3406What really? I always thought only a select number of games were actually backwards compatible.
the xbox 360 was one of the first consoles i had (my dad’s ps2 is excused) i loved booting up halo on it and play until i get in trouble for playing too long or bedtime
rip 360
My dad also has a PS2, and he was given a 360 from a friend. Problem is, he didn’t get any games for the 360 lol. I tried buying one myself but despite the console being in new condition, the game just stopped working after two weeks
I used the blades back in the day. Such an amazing looking UI. But in 2008 they replaced it with a new dashboard. But this new dashboard allowed you to install games.
I think the Xbox 360
@@multipinoy101I also think think the xbox 360
Honestly I have been collecting for the Xbox 360 for months and I just don't see Microsoft shutting down Xbox Live on the Xbox 360 because it's still the same as the current Xbox Live so they run on the same servers. Not to mention the Xbox Series X is backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 with full Xbox Live integration. You might have individual games have there servers shutdown but not the entirety of Xbox Live on the 360 itself.
This. They might at worst shutdown market place, but the game servers will most likely will stay up
@@skim7728 I really hope they dont shut down the marketplace for at least another year or two because I want to get an xbox 360 and get a lot of the nostalgic marketplace exclusives, or games that are better if you get the marketplace version rather than the disk.
@@skim7728
They may not even shutdown the marketplace because they still sell Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and those same games are the same as they are on the Xbox 360 itself so when you purchase a 360 game on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S you can download and play it on an original Xbox 360 as well. It's not like on PlayStation where any PS3 game you buy on PS4 or PS5 is only a remaster and can't be played on your original PS3. So because of this this they'll likely have enough reason not to shut the store down either. What they should do is start back up the backwards compatibility program to eventually get full backwards compatibility
More and more games will be discontinued from Marketplace (which sadly has been happening a lot), but the actual Marketplace itself will never go offline IMO. Hopefully companies like Netflix and TH-cam remain supporting and updating the apps too.
@@TheThingKing
The TH-cam app on 360 barely works Microsoft and Google have a terrible relationship it's a wonder the 360 had a TH-cam app to begin with but the Xbox 360 was too popular for Google to just straight up ignore like it did Windows Phone
Honestly it’s crazy I pulled my 360 out for the first time since 2011 and I forgot how many disc games I had including the limited edition of ghosts when it first released with unused codes still inside
This was my first Xbox 360 which I bought back in January 2010 . I still have the box and all the manuals and accessories .
The beauty of life is that we got to experience it. There is pain in never being able to go back again though.
I got my first Xbox console (360 slim) in 2010 from my local K-Mart. Loved the NXE dashboard. Batman Arkham Asylum was my first Xbox 360 game. This is bringing me back. So many memories.
Hey I got my first 360 at Kmart too. 👍
The NXE dashboard looks so cool but I don't think I've ever experienced one of the older dashboards but it seems like blades get more attention
I had what I think was the ‘arcade’ dashboard on an old white 360 that got the infamous red ring.
Whichever one stacked to the left/right and changed colors based on the section you went to. Honestly that UI was cool as hell.
I don't think it will shut down anytime soon, the backwards compatible 360 games on One and Series X use the same servers.
Same here. Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One is backwards compatible with many Original Xbox Games, Xbox 360 games I don’t think it will shut down.
Exactly
Lol my point
I had my old Xbox 360 since 2011 and it's broken now but it's still turn on, it's basically grew with me through my childhood, pretty good time back then
For old cods like mw2, blackops, and earlier, match making is broken to some degree. There are a good amount of matches out there, but for some reason it’s really buggy now, ever since the backwards compatible update for newer Xbox consoles. But it still works.
I am at home for school break and was going through my room after parents re-did it, wanted to watch this before i bring it back to my apartment, so many memories and good times
I honestly dont see them shutting down the servers as I think they share servers with the Xbox One, even if they dont, theres so many backwards compatible games that I think will keep it kicking for quite awhile longer, I wanna see it hit 2 decades!
Bro, you bringing back memories with the demos. I used to always play the demo of Castle Crashers from Arcade, to the point where I’d memorize it to heart. Good times.
I still have my OG 360, I play it sometimes and kept it clean. I’m lucky I never got the red ring of death ! Such good memories and a awesome console 👍
11 years and still don't know what a red ring is but that's because i have the Black 2010 Kinect one which is the best model
I've been playing mine the last few days. Some stuff still isn't and probably never will be backwards compatible like Guitar Hero/ Rockband games. Trying to search the store on it was a headache. I think half of it has already been mothballed considering how terrible the search function is now and failing to bring up results half the time
Xbox 360 was the first console in my families house, my cousin had an original XBOX and SNES so thats where we played anything early on. I remember seeing the blades UI and a trailer for halo 3 which BLEW my mind because all I ever played has halo CE (and jet set/forza), didnt even know 2 existed at all. The 360 era IMO was the last good era for gamers in terms of features, fun and ownership at a good price. Sadly it was also the beginning of the end as the scam tactics we have today popped up, as much as I loved halo and forza I noticed a lot of DLC which at times was just items we had in past games so it felt like I was being paygated for what I had before. Im glad my 360 still works and im still playing games on it, better than the modern xbox games we got now so I have no issues sticking with it.
My first console was the 360 with NXE dashboard. I loved every single thing about the console, but didn't last too long, since my house was broken into a month after I got it, and couldn't afford another one. Lol
Update: they declined the servers being shut down as of may 2023
I have been using my 360 since 2008, never upgraded to the one. Bought my last dlc a month ago for mw3. It is beyond insane that they still charge $15 PER DLC! Youd think theyd start discounting 360 stuff now, nope. During the shutdowns i went out and bought all the games i never got a chance to play in my youth, i got over 100 games at min $3 a game max $20 a game now im set for the rest of my life lol
Totally. I have been buying "discontinued" games on physical, they never worked on One or S/X anyway... Also, a lot of games lost their licensing and so on... I really like hardware that is built like a tank. ❤
I mean i see a lot of people still playing 360.
Yep, the Just Cause 2 demo was cool as hell. Same as Mafia II. You had half an hour to do whatever the hell you wanted haha. Mafia IIs was especially nice since there was a border right next to you when you started, next to the house, but you could go past it and explore the entire map. Good times.
2 weeks after you uploaded this video, Call of Duty updated and fixed matchmaking servers. You can find a lobby in MW2 within seconds now.
Mw2 and 3 put a patch in a couple years back that if you hadn't played multiplayer up to that point, you can't be put into games from then on; basically it was a cut off date. Since you are Rank 1 you will unfortunately never be able to find a game to join.
I just bought one for myself (Xbox 360 Slim white color), throw back to 10 years ago! Such a great nostalgia experience. Love it!!
Hard to believe it's almost been 19 years now.
I have every Xbox since 2003. I did the red ring of death fix, still have that Xbox from 2006.
I began playing on a local network using LAN and also used to take my original Xbox over to a friend's. We made our own crossover cables.
I really wish I could find an Xbox 360 that hasn't been updated to the 3rd version. I love the first menu they had for the console
Me too, I'd imagine that it'd be very expensive to get such a system if you'd find one in the first place, unfortunately. /)
Been playing Rock Band 3 / Beatles Rock Band lots lately on my 360. Glad to say the music store for RB3 is still up and running!
It's sad that the market place and live gameplay is going down just because this console is still very capable and would be great for Indy games or for people who can't afford modern gaming consoles.
It’s not going down though

I remember playing demos way more than full games and finding ways to glitch the demo to play longer and keeping my xbox on for days to play Just cause 2 if you went out of bounds.
I even bought a 360 E model a year ago just to have a nostalgic console to liscense transfer all my bought games growing up
They already said they aren’t shutting it down.
I fortunately grew up using the blades dashboard. We bought a xbox 360 elite but we never connected the console to the internet. I used every dashboard and it was by far the one i missed the most.
I don't think they're gonna shut down the Xbox 360 servers anytime soon because they are partially linked to the Xbox One servers and for backward capability to work. To buy a Xbox 360 game on the Xbox one, It still has to go through the 360 servers oddly.
Ur wrong they have different servers Xbox 360 and Xbox One is not the same
Are we able to download digital games on our Xbox 360 library after the shutdown?
When you really think about it, a lot of us have probably played with each other back in the day, and unknowingly reunited through a Jacob R video about playing with each other back in the day 🤯
I recently just hooked up my 360 elite. I’m really enjoying play through all of the Gears Of War games again. So much fun.
The 360 servers will not shutdown. It's using the same network as xbox one and series consoles. 360 servers shutting down means xbox one and series consoles are shutting down.
I don’t expect the 360 servers themselves to shut down soon, but the marketplace and all associated features are clearly on their way out. And with fewer people playing 360 online and companies not supporting the online experience, most online 360 gaming will just fizzle out. I’m sure there are some games that still have a good online experience, but not the games I tried
@@jrob0021 just saying that as most 360 era games where fully P2P so they should still work even when a company removes there own infrastructure, as long as live still works. My Xbox 360 was very fun. I played GTA 4, for hours and hours. I played just dance, battlefield 4, and an ghostbusters game. It was prime, I’ve never had that much fun in an long time. Still have my Elite Jasper 2 (Kronos) console. Still play Guitar Hero games often. I’m missing GH Van Halen and Smash hits.
My childhood, the amount of hours I put into cod4 on that thing, still have great memories all these years later.
I still have my 360, same one as you and it still works all these years later. Also they have now fixed the MW2 servers because of it being part of game pass
Just clicked on this randomly and within the first 25 sec you made me feel old when you said "it came out 18 years ago" I was a senior in high school the year it came out lol
I just bought a couple games on my 360 few days ago. Sometimes it does have trouble loading and or reading payment selection. Sometimes it will load if you keep trying to load the game/payment… but it is still usable.
You can still do the players messaging on the series X and one
Maybe try disconnecting the adapter of the Wi-Fi and then reconnect and start the test to connect Xbox live in the settings again and see what happens. I’m so sure it is not discontinued so should not be a problem that the game froze.
Man, they should make the dashboard of the xbox 360 for the new Xboxes, it’s so classic and it gives such a good vibe
360 was my jam
I use to play GTA V on my Xbox 360, and then compare graphics to my PC...quite a difference.
Btw I recently downloaded skate 3 on my Xbox series S but I also have a Xbox 360 slim and a disc of skate 3/Minecraft/cars2 Videogame
I noticed your Joe’s KC shirt. The best place to eat, hands down!
Definitely a great spot. I don’t live anywhere close to Kansas though, so I’ve only been there once
I remember when i had an Xbox 360, I used to play sonic games on it, I played sonic and Sega all stars racing, sonic generations, i also played viva pinata on it
Not sure if they're shutting it down anymore since the COD Games on 360 just got their servers updated.
Rest in peace xbox 360 We will miss you
I remember one of the old xbox 360 UIs used to have zune music on it before microsft got rid of their ipod/itunes competitor
