Nothing was built under licence from the UK, the predecessor models, 1500 & 1800 were built in Detroit and were the styling inspiration behind the MF 1200, all designed by Lee Elfes, the then Head of Engineering, at Livonia, Michigan.
The MF 1200 used a gearbox and centre housing from the MF 188 being built at the time in Banner Lane.
Maudslay Road Engineering Design and David Lees had to redesign some of the more questionable aspects of the design, such as adding sloping front lower windows to the cab (the prototype had vertical lower front windows like the 1500/1800/1505/1805), and used traditional wheel disc centres, as per two wheel drive tractors - the prototype was fitted with PAVT on all four wheels. The MF 1200 also used a Perkins A6 - 354 engine.
The US built artics used some existing componentry of tractors then in production - the 1000 series artics utlised the gearbox and drive axles of the MF 1000 series high horsepower conventional rigid frame two wheel drive tractors - everything else was bespoke. The MF 4000 series artics utilised a contemporary MF 2000 series conventional rigid frame tractor centre housing and drive axles at the rear whilst the same axles were also used at the front, seperated by a bespoke mini centre housing with the crown wheel and pinion on the opposite side to the rear, to ensure all four wheels rotated in the same direction off a common drive shaft to both the rear and front axles. Same applied to MF 1000 series artics, except both axles sported a bespoke mini centre housing.
There's a channel from America i watch.. JT'S barn and grill he's restored and uses a few articulated fergie's.

my first red paint was an MF1030. I think that machine with loader would fit inside the cab of either of these brutes!

I was watching a US farm auction a few months ago and a tractor very similar to one of these sold for just under 1500 USD but it's the shipping that costs

You would be glad of the light bar and any other lights at 3 am in the middle of a 2000 hectare paddock in Canada The lights that these and tractors of that era were hardly fit for purpose ,and if we wanted them as they left the factory nothing would ever have changed Remember it’s a working machine not a debs dress
