That was awesome Cousin Jim! Thank you for show casing one of the great American success stories and it comes 2 miles from where I was born and raised and I am damn proud of them and what they have become. What Avet did is absolutely amazing and they should have a TV documentary done on them as back in the 90's Shimano and Penn absolutely owned the big game and offshore reel market and I mean owned. You walked into any tackle store at the time from West to East coast and that was all you saw as it was the best at the time next to the very expensive Accurate reels that were out of most anglers budgets. Avet came from no where not only challenging the top two in dominance but took them over and showed them the way as to what American Engineering could do in making high end reels. I salute you Avet!! Thank you for giving us great gear for the past 25 years and also letting us feel good about buying a American product that was not inferior and incredibly expensive but reasonably priced and superior in quality. Keep up the great work and in keeping USA products relevant.
just called them to get a reel rebuilt but the service crew is off till Jan 2 great reel and company if you want same day service on a reel it is only $18 more tight lines
Nice tour of the company Jim. CNC machines do what they’re programmed to do. Just because of the 2 turn reel seat screw I went back to Shimano. The MXL will be the only Avet reel I will own. Screw in those reel seat body screws and you’ll see most will go down further than 2 threads of the screw. Just being honest Jim. 👏👏👏
@@JeffreySmith-m3y It doesn’t matter if it fails or not. 2 threads is not enough. Because if that it tells me a lot about your quality. I will not buy another Avet reel.
I have about a 10 year old Avet reel and I take it apart once a year and clean it. It still runs smoooth! but it does make a little noise in free spool. I'll send it in to replace the bearings, etc. That's quite the operation they have there.
You can pay them like 10-20 dollars more and they will give them back to you in 20 minutes. They are by far the best in the business. Family owned and operated.
Correct. They can also modify your reel as well. I had them put a longer handle on my SX Raptor and it’s even better. In n out in 40 minutes, including service.
@@cousinjim1they sell it for cash to scrap companies. It’s already been taxed so they get an envelope of greenbacks in exchange and uncle same doesn’t get any.
I’m getting my reels services this year. MXL MC, JX Raptor and a MXJ. Solid reels. I’m ashamed to say my MXL MC is getting its 1st service …..about 6 or 7 yrs old 5-8 trips a year still works like a champ but time for some love
sent my entire reel in and it returned within 7 days completely rebuilt I never tried to just get a part from them. I think the complete rebuild was $54. Cancel Reply

Hey, ex roommate glad you’re watching. We still need to go fishing.
Hey Jim, I'm back from Mexico@@cousinjim1

I hope to fish a lot of different reels over the next couple of seasons
You go to a subpar aluminum reel because of a part that never fails on a T6061 aluminum reel? That doesn't really add up to me.

I use a avet trx 50 for big game. I can’t recommend them enough. They’re built like a tank and weight like one but extremely reliable.
thanks for the info tight lines

when I'm filming the clicker even off sounds load to the camera good luck steve thanks for watching
Very cool. Might now consider an Avet for my Tuna buster.
There a solid reel I’ve landed hundred pounders on the MXL 60 pounders on the sx
I live a stone's throw from them 😅

thanks they did not tell me that while I was there
I have a MXL and the screws go all the way down.
Did you know that they have the maintenance program?
I’d like to know why the JX reel seat screws don’t go further down when you screw down the reel
Seat screws. Only screws
Down 2 turns of the screw👎
Next time I am there I’ll ask them 😊
@@cousinjim1 No need. I sent back and they say 2 threads is enough.
Of course they’re gonna say that. I’ll never buy another Avet again.
there is a lot of scrap aluminum there, wow!
I thought the same thing then I thought maybe the have it melted down and reclaim it

Great video is that the one you had on the Mustang this year? And how long did you run it before you needed it serviced?
It looks like you have to do it once a year to keep them very reliable😊
Both pink ones I fished all year, so it was definitely on the mustang
Awesome thank you. You have me sold I’m gonna get one.
