      But it’s not the same logic. The P1 has been on a dyno, there’s a video. It made 817hp to the wheels. That’s only 47hp more to the wheels than the 765LT.
      The P1 is just slightly underrated but it’s not anything more than 930hp. It’s not huge. Brooks here just basically said in the video the 765LT could be making around 885hp. So 918 Spyder power with much less weight? Explains why it’s so fast.

    The 100 octane likely made a difference in giving the awesome numbers. With that said, I have no clue how quickly the McLaren ECU's adapt. Maybe if they did a few more pulls, you'd get even higher numbers.

    • @racequad9
      @racequad9 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unless a car is tuned for higher octane than what it comes from the factory, there is NO power increase in simply adding higher octane fuel. Cause higher octane doesn't mean more power, higher octane means you can add more timing which is where you'll see the power increase. Modern cars can take away timing when they experience knock due to lower quality fuel but it can't add timing when better fuel is added unless it's tuned for it. All he did by adding 100 octane was ensure he got all the power that car is capable of on stock tuning, which he would have got with 93 octane anyway.

      McLaren state crank horsepower, they don’t measure wheel. You can tell by the way they lie about performance numbers too. Let’s be honest. McLaren would’ve tested this car in perfect conditions. Yet they advertised the 765LT to do 0-200km/h in 7.2 secs, slower than a 720S that was timed at 7.1 secs?
      McLaren know they have to downplay figures because if the real power figures for the 720S were revealed, the 720S would’ve been compared to the likes of the 918 Spyder and LaFerrari, rather than the 911 Turbo S (992) and F8 Tributo.
      That’s why with the 765LT, no one is waiting to compare it to the LaFerrari or track version of the F8 Tributo, they’re waiting to compare it to the SF90 Stradale. Because we know McLaren lie. We just saw the car make 110hp more than the 720S on the same dyno. Yet McLaren claim the difference between the two is only 45hp. How can they not be lying?

    Lets be quite clear here: A mclaren 765LT makes 765 horsepower.
    However, that is the power it makes on the legally mandated engine power test (ISO1585 in the UK/EU). That test is a stabilised test ie the engine is loaded on an ENGINE DYNO, and the power measured at enough points across the engine speed range to be able to establish the torque curve. Each test point is required by law to have a certain stability, ie for the power to not change ecessively during the logging of that test point, and each individual point would be held for around 2 to 3 minutes. During the test, the boundary conditions (water and oil temps, intercooling performance, fuel pressure and garde, ambient pressure and humidity etc) all have to be precisely controlled to the defined conditions. So as someone who has actually witnessed the power certification for this engine, i can tell you that the 765 makes it's claimed power and no more. These tests are also independantly witness and verified by each countries certification agency to ensure no cheating, or manipulation of the test facility or the data created.
    What you see in this video is what happens when you put a car on a set of chassis rollers, and take a "flash reading" ie non stabilised, and have no control over any of the boundary conditions, and apply an arbitrary correction factor and coast down drag.. You get a different number. Now, typically with heavily turbocharged vehicles, which are very dependant on their intercooling performance to maintain turbocharger efficiency (and hence pre turbine back pressure and knock margins), when you take a flash reading, yes, you will indeed record a power figure that is somewhat higher than the stabilised OE homologation figure, because the engine is relatively cold. This is why we have the industry standard power certifaction tests that are legally mandated, precisely because they allow carefully controlled conditions and hence allow the comparison of cars all tested over those same tests.
    This is also why "tuner" power is, ime about 25% smaller than OE power, because the tuners don't tend to have access to the proper certification facilities (and because there industry revolves around being able to claim the biggest number, no matter how truthful that number is, so they would rather quote the flash reading.

      Also no i've never seen a Ferrari accelerate faster than claimed,I actually saw it with McLaren,765lt was claimed to do 124 mph 7.2 and it ran 7 flat,it also claimed a faster 1/4 mile time.

    Aerodynamics is such an interesting thing. The Ford gt sacrificed so much for aerodynamics, but it's probably not as effecient as this. This looks so smooth, it looks like it slides through the air like a hot knife in butter

      Still here. Very different cars. Can't not be impressed with this 765LT but it seems to me it's actually too fast to put into the hands of your average rich kid, lol Hats off to McLaren, hopefully it will be reliable which has been an issue with others. If I was a Senna owner I'd be pissed though, lol

  • @BLACK05GO1

    Those were both STD numbers (not SAE Corrected) for both cars being compared. The day the 720s was dynoed (see 6:31 in the video and pause it) it was 87 degrees with 58% humidity (high density altitude). For the 765LT its only 65 degrees with 37% humidity (very low density altitude). On a turbo car, those differences in temperature and humidity would give the 765LT a large HP advantage. Why not use SAE (corrected for weather conditions) for an apple to apple comparison? Those two different dyno days are worth about 3000 ft. DA or at least 30 hp (on a naturally aspirated car - turbo would be more of an advantage in the cool air).

    With it giving up, hp and torque at lower rpm and the ramp up at higher rpm, It would suggest a higher duration cam! Awesome video!
