You’re so right bro. Preach it!! It’s even worse for us here in Australia where that extra $5 for a Collector’s Edition somehow inflates to an extra $20AUD so we pay roughly $55-$60 for those. For figures like Captain Carrot or Wonder Woman where you can see the value and justify that price it doesn’t sting as bad but for releases like Sinestro we’re definitely feeling the shaft.
realy dig the new dc characters but you are right they are not consistant but they have really naild the price on the 20 figs but the rest are all over the place
Mcfarlane, at this point doesn't make sense at all with the prices. I got the Sinestro platinum too it's a great figure. Waiting for the Batman and the Green Lantern. I will receive the Spectre platinum in a couple of days.
I have the original Rebirth Batman and I like him a lot. I feel like the chest is too narrow and the arms are too small, so I swapped out his upper arms with Unmasked Thomas Wayne Flashpoint Batman and it solved almost all of my issues.
Totally agree with you… scale is all over the place.. maybe it’s just me but I wish these toy companies would just do away with build a figures and just give us more accessories like hands, heads, weapons and affects. I definitely don’t have any use for digital codes for a NFT😂. Great video as always bro 🤙🏻
The extra five for baf makes sense. The collectors edition with the stand for the card isn’t good. I’m not into the digital either. I ordered this wave with the digital so will just take a look. I’m cutting back to do world building for my figures more now. The store five below has some great food accessories sets for $5 each.
@@Toygains they have three food truck package ones now and some candy stand ones too. I have some videos of the accessories sets on my channel if you want a preview of what you’ll see in the store. :-)
That's one of McFarlane's biggest problems that a figure that he puts out is like 95% perfect but that 5% is huge and just ruins it! Ie this Batman is a fantastic figure but he's too small, or mullet superman great head perfect blue great body bit that blue or body doesn't go with that head! There's always something that like "finally the character I wanted!... oh shit it's the damn rebirth version!" Or there a nightmare to get a Hold of for retail price and when you do there's a qc issue and they break... ie year two Batman, or your moniter wave kid flash comes with two right arms and they sent two psycho pirates and no spectre!... there's always something!
Ok here’s my conspiracy theory. They wanna keep them 20$ but can’t. So they pick a few figure to Jack up the price to keep the others low. Hence collectors editions, digital, gold label. They gotta start making collectors editions come with more stuff. The Wonder Woman I thought has a decent assortment of weapons hand etc. neca ultimate should be the blueprint (the fact that they go for 40$ these days means mcfarlane doing a box full of accessories for 30$ is an opportunity to look really good that the are passing up, I mean neca has so much more paint, I can’t imagine these costing more to make).
So much potential for the newest collector wave to have tons of accessories for that $30 price point and Todd dropped the ball. Pretty sure in an interview a while back he said future waves would get more for that price point but hasn’t really been the case.
you're kinda right. Todd pumps these DC figures out with zero oversight or QC. they go straight from digital sculpt to the factory. as far as pricing -- WB probably has to take most of the blame on that.
Well, I don't really care about to many accessories, just because how many times does people actually use them and I mean the regular toy guy who's the bulk of the clientele not collectors. I believe that they are a hook to get people to buy. Like the option of a cigarette lighter on a car, nobody uses it but is there. How ever when you are calling it collector's edition or a platinum chase, I want at least the option of a different paint or extra junk. something that validates the price or name on the product. On that note the digital push on stuff that most people don't like is what bothers me. I get that if you want it you should be able to buy it, but including it just to push a product, makes me feel like when the Jehovah witness knock on my door and I open it. Nothing but wasted time. Cool take on the price and reason comparison. Mcfarlane Toys is all over the FCKG place on every line they carry. Pick up that batman just for the head, just like I picked the one on the three pack just for the Batwoman and clay face.
Personally, I don't understand the interest in digital figures. I think that's a stupid idea from a consumer standpoint but probably a good idea from a business standpoint. I'm also 46 years old so... Maybe it appeals to much younger collectors where digital is just about all they know...who knows? That cardholder should have never been a thing. If you're only going to collect a few figures that might work but if most collectors displayed their cards with all their figures they'd run out of room much faster than if they just displayed their figures. Most of us put those cards in a binder or card container. McFarlane Toys is inconsistent with many things and they do make way more decisions than they should that make no sense but what they do mostly regarding their price hikes, and many collectors don't even see this or if they do they're so institutionalized that they ignore it is that they reel us in with their $20 price point at first. They were the best priced figures for what you got when they first came out. Everything was $20 ($25 if there was a BAF piece included). And it stayed that way for a long time. Then, once collectors get institutionalized, and they do, then the price for certain figures go up just a little bit. Some of the figures are now $22. They also have the Page Punchers. Now, by this time, McFarlane Toys can do no wrong and so now, when they got you, they start releasing the Platinum Series, which of course looks awesome and by now it's just another ploy that toy companies use to hike up a price at a $30 price point. It's all marketing. They change the box, a little bit goes more into the figure and they just got you to pay $30 for a $25 figure but because they suped it up. This includes adding an accessory or two that most collectors probably won't even use. Hasbro does this, although they still release the same 6 inch figures but charge more. They're not a good company at all. Super 7 does this, Mattel does this but McFarlane could have been the example because Todd doesn't have to answer to greedy shareholders. That's what sets him away from the rest. Anyway, this is long enough. I've been collecting for 40 years and I just see these things from a mile away.
I don't like feeling insulted when I buy a figure. That's one reason I buy very few these days. Just my 17 cents. Remember when it was "my 2 cents"? Waka waka!😜

I understand now yes that would make sense. But you know as well I do it's not a perfect world and it's always got to be something different. I honestly think Todd had them be 7 in so that way it would be different from the previous brands that had the DC license. I don't really know because a lot of his figures used to be like four to five inches. In a interview he said why not just make them 7 in I don't really know I can only go by what he says.
I’m still astonished Todd is hawking his NFT’s because in some third world country there is a poor child who can’t pay the >$100 shipping costs for a real figure. Somehow the benevolent angle just rings hallow. Considering the real reason is he just wants to make a bunch of money off the artsy fartsy nerds and traders in the art world. Nothing wrong with that but don’t try and act like he’s just trying to g to help some poor kid somewhere
