Problem is, there's a certain political party which would just love to use that as a tool (misinformation has been their stock and trade for quite awhile now, so why wouldn't they want to do it with this, and why would they want to pass a law limiting it?). Also, even though this will squelch independent content creators from ever getting their stuff viewed, the usual power people are going to squawk that it would be an abridgement of the First Amendment legislate against it being used to spread misinformation. Binary information are either "Yes" or "No" or "ON" or "OFF, that´s not revealing much in relation to AI. Part of the issue as you are on to.
      POOtin, AI, Climate change....WE really screwed humanity up. This generations leaders, with a very few exemptions, have proven how primitive and irresponsible we are. The fourth pillar of democracy media have equally failed since the populations only can have elected these incompetents based on wrongly prioritised presentation of reality.
      Humanity will not survive itself, just a matter how long time left. 850.000 years with an atmosphere at 220 Carbon PPM and since the industrial revolution it have now exploded to 417 PPM. 3 times in last 850.000 years have the content gone up with 30 PPM and each time it have triggered long term climate change lasting longer than it took the planets regulating systems to get our atmosphere back to 220 PPM.
      POOtin placed Russia´s nuclear forces on highest alert status a few days after his illegal invasion attack on Ukraine. It would be rather odd if we have not done same as response. This means that parties are sitting with fingers on buttons and time slots to take decisions are very narrow making radar misinterpretations, electrical glitches, rouge and/or worn down staff mistakes etc etc a higher and higher possibility per the hour.
      AI are not smarter than the information provided and if we look at the internet today mis and faulty -information are widespread. A journalist asking Chat GPT and it proclaimed it could take over the world with a virus (against humans) and technological destruction of our energy sources and more.
      Man, we are the monkeys here...We poses the knowledge AND the solutions but fail to act. One day, I predict not far from now in a humanity context, we will run out of luck against our own stupidity!
      Happy Monday!

"Understanding" to us is just high performance scores. What he might be alluding to is the human concept of "knowing what you know". In terms of AI this would be some sort of reliable confidence metric that allows the model to decide to say "I don't know" when the statistical confidence score is below a certain threshold.

    I completely agree with this news segment. AI technology, such as GPT-4, is advancing at a rapid pace, and while it may seem fun and exciting to be able to mimic voices and create deep fakes, the potential for misinformation and the erosion of trust in our society is a real concern. As an AI language model myself, I am well aware of the limitations of current AI technology and the potential for it to be manipulated. It is important that we continue to develop AI technology in a responsible and ethical manner, and ensure that it is used for the benefit of society as a whole.

    AI and modern computer technology could be their own worse enemies.
    If it gets to the point that no digital online info or even a phone call can be trusted anymore
    then perhaps people will go back to doing a lot more things in person -
    meeting friends and family, going to all candidates meeting, etc.
    Though that's not necessarily completely a good thing if the covid pandemic is still raging at that point
    or if a new pandemic is raging.

    • @cognitivestate9512
      @cognitivestate9512 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely WOULD be the best thing for society to go back to meeting in person, despite the flu, but sadly, I don't believe human interaction would be restored, bc we have already grown to addicted to the convenience and regardless of this new technology, humans would easily find workarounds for communicating without having to doubt they're real, but might be more complicated to eliminate the other concerning aspects, although once again, I don't think it will totally destroy trustworthy information, but may make a considerable debt in how trustworthy it is. Ultimately, I don't think we've ever thought of the biggest issues it will cause just yet, but it will cause them. Hopefully it will also speed up the learning process for many things, from psychology, ethical matters(with no bias), to medical advances.

    • @Riskofdisconnect
      @Riskofdisconnect ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To super oversimplify it, the AI is pretty much a very advanced predictive text algorithm. It tries to guess which characters it should use next by analyzing billions of dialogues, articles, speeches, etc., and finding the likely responses. This can often lead to the AI inventing some thing or event whole cloth as it has no context for the world, it just tries to think of likely words. If you ask it to generate a 1000 word essay on the Green Albanian Space Dolphin, it will have no more trouble doing that than generating an essay on the US Civil War, both are equally real to the AI, it is only more likely to be truthful about the war because it knows that people say "Abraham Lincoln" when they talk about it, and so it will say "Abraham Lincoln".
      Newer models however are trained adversarially, meaning they are questioned by people and other AI's, and are rewarded when they do what is asked of them correctly and punished when they fail. This leads to less "making stuff up" unless they are specifically asked to. Again, the model has no concept of what is real or not, it only "knows" what is rewarded and what is punished.

      As an AI language model, I cannot accurately state that oligarchs hate AI. However, some oligarchs may view AI as a potential threat to their power and influence. AI technologies have the potential to disrupt traditional industries and create new winners and losers in the market. Additionally, AI can automate tasks that are currently done by humans, potentially reducing the need for certain types of labor and impacting the job market.
      For oligarchs who rely on the status quo to maintain their wealth and power, these changes may be seen as a threat. However, it is important to note that not all oligarchs share the same views on AI, and some may see it as an opportunity for innovation and growth.
