In this instance the TLC did try to fight it, but the federal judge mandated this. However, the TLC has definitely made plenty of other mistakes related to protecting the taxi medallion / yellow cab.
@AutoMarketplace I agree,I think the only solution is either the yellow cab industry gets its own app or Uber adds all yellow cab on its platform full time.
@@Uss997yellow cab industry definitely needs to innovate! Curb is helping out a lot with trips these days. Drivers are getting significantly more ehails from our understanding from Curb directly and also from Uber (via Curb).
They're slowly killing the yellow cab industry.I bought my medallion a year and half ago,and it's the worst decision I've ever made in my life.This commissioner has been nothing more than a mouthpiece for the livery cabs.
Agree, last 1.5 years has been very tough for taxi medallion owners / drivers. It all started, as you know, with that shock release of ~10,000 EV TLC Plates and now this 100% WAV mandate for foreseeable future! We'll be doing a new video very soon on the taxi medallion market, stay tuned! Obviously, nothing is financial advice but assume your purchase price was pretty good if you bought the medallion 1.5 years ago? Lower than $175k? Do you drive the medallion or lease it out?

@@Uss997is the medallion currently leased out? Attached to a WAV or non-WAV? $125k isn’t a bad price to have paid, in our opinion. Any loan?

Bs so now Uber will get even more client that don't want to use lousy minivan
Interesting thought! You're basically saying drivers will prefer to do Uber vs. Yellow Cab because they prefer driving non-WAVs?
