FILM DESCRIPTION:
Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home. Along for the ride is Jia, an orphaned girl who has a unique and powerful bond with the mighty beast. For those that don’t know: the director actually came out after the movie released saying Godzilla could’ve taken on mecha no problem if he hadn’t just gone 2 rounds with another alpha and hadn’t overused the atomic breathe

@@zjjla6283 if anything, like with the first movie where they fought back in the 60s, Mechagodzilla wouldve given Godzilla a run for his money, but Godzilla would've probably been able to pull through last minute. I love that Mechagodzilla's roar as its climbing out of the mountain is actually a mechanized King Ghidorah roar. It's subtle, but it really drives home the fact that Ghidorah is in control.

You could tell Godzilla was pissed seeing Mechagodzilla because he knew who was piloting it. The very enemy that tried to usurp his crown, the one who killed Mothra, the one who took control of the other titans from him, Ghidorah.

I like how there's actually a reason why Godzilla was having trouble. He spent so much his atomic breath and energy reaching and fighting Kong that he was exhausted by the end and having to go against this thing only made it worse. It's why during the beam struggle his atomic breath failed.
And a lot of that went into burrowing into the earth with that thing.
And if Kong didn't interfere with Godzilla's search for Ghidorah (Mechagodzilla), Godzilla would stand a chance and not be this exhausted.
@@squishyman0829 To be fair, it wasn't Kong that instigated the fight, but instead Apex who took the piece of energy crystal from Hollow Earth which seemed to grab Godzilla's attention and in turn, uses his atomic breath to dig to the source, which then he called out to Kong and Kong responded, starting the fight.
@@AshXXMayftw basically it was all part of the plan. Mecha was specifically designed to kill Godzilla the Monster King. However, it didn't have enough energy to bring it to full power. Think it was at 75 percent?
But its more efficient to get two alphas to fight and kill each other while Mecha swoops in and finished off the winner than simply taking on two alphas at once.
@@furionmax7824 actually no most of godzilla's energy went into fighting kong. He used his atomic breath nonstop through round 2 and went animalistic in round 3 without showing any signs of being tired prior to mechagodzilla showing up.

It made nearly half a billion dollars and everybody talked about it for a while. Its far from underrated

Same here Godzilla king of the monsters is one of my favourite films and one of the best monster movies while Godzilla vs Kong is good it felt abit short and too much humans not enough fighting for such a short movie

The CGI in the Monsterverse is just amazing and consistent unlike most MCU films nowadays(Shang Chi, No Way Home, Werewolf By Night, Wakanda Forever, GOTG Holiday Special, and GOTG 3 are exceptions though) with how consistent Monsterverse CGI is in every movie.

The sound effects in this movie and the rest of the Monsterverse (excluding Kong Skull Island) was done by a studio called E². Their pretty well known in the industry and have been responsible for the sound effects of many blockbusters. To name a few, Transformers, Pacific Rim, The Quiet Place, and Sonic are movies they worked on. I'm a sucker for sound design and whenever I hear the sound effects in these movies, their just pure ecstasy to my ears.

I know them from those recycled metal hits and crashes you'd hear from the Transformers movies.

The novel goes into detail about that. Dr Serizawa's son resented his dad for focusing so much of his life on Godzilla. He actually saw Godzilla as a surrogate older brother that his dad favoured more.

Literally i was in theaters in opening day like "bro he is slamming Godzilla into buildings and this hurts to watch hearing him roar every time he got slammed into a building" . With Godzilla Vs Destoryah might be the saddest Godzilla movie with the amount of pain Godzilla experiences as he not only looses his son, he is also dying slowly, that's why it's my number 1 favorite Godzilla movie. Godzilla Final Wars being number 3 its an amazing movie I love it and i did feel bad when Kasiar Ghidorah kept throwing him around and taking his energy until Godzilla gained power and absolutely destroyed him

He did just charge up an atomic breath blast that tunneled into the Hollow Earth *AND* go two brutal rounds with Kong, so he's pretty worn down at this point. He would've most likely done better at his full strength.

I have realized why i love this scene so much. Once the fight starts, there is no music which just heightens the intensity of the battle more with the roars and explosions as if you were there watching it unfold in person rather than on screen.

Limb length, flexibility and mobility, pure strengh, enhanced reflexes ( even to kong stantards) stunning missiles ( godzilla is very easy to stun with the right attacks) a superior fighting style, knowledge of literally every aspect and weakness of godzilla, an overall more effective armor ( not necessarily more durable) a beam that has similar power to godzilla's breath( not as destructive capacity but in a fight their attack potency is close) and the list goes on.
Mechagodzilla is such a beast.

He knew against M.Godzilla he couldn't make the same mistake and so reached for the Axe right away and of course once charged the rest was history.

Ironically, I wrote a currently unpublished Percy Jackson/MonsterVerse/ARK/MCU crossover with Mechagodzilla as the villain in the 5th season, where his actions are largely based on Ultron, and says exactly that.

One of the designers mentioned that with money and resources Apex spent on the Mecha they could've made a massive warship to equal Zilla's power but instead they made a replica of him for one reason: Intimidation. Imagine you're being hunted by a robot that looked exactly like you instead of a drone. You'd be terrified and that's exactly what they were going for.
The deadly animatronics Godzilla, made of titanium alloy and computers, was caused by humanity's intense anger and hatred towards Godzilla. Now it has become the puppet of the most horrific and nightmare monster Godzilla has ever tried to kill.
1:00 Mechagodzilla's footsteps sound so cool and terrifying
I really do quite like this Mechagodzilla design. There's something very...human about the conceit in taking Godzilla's body, mimicking it, then attempting to improve on it with the more pronounced arms and the tail and all. Don't know if I'd put it over the original design, but I appreciate that it wasn't just a carbon copy and they did something different.
I don’t know if this is entirely true, but I think that his shoulder missile launchers were a nod to Kiryu from 2002-03.
@@theturnedtable2605 None of Toho's MechaGodzillas ever had shoulder rockets. Hell, one of their mandates for this version was to _not_ have shoulder missiles, but they were added in anyway.

Godzilla is able to sense King Ghidorah's presence within that vessel, which is why he's been attacking Apex felicity around the globe and knows Mechagodzilla is an enemy.

Titans normally are super loud and can be identified by their acustic frequency ( that titans can identifiy by the way) mechagodzilla was being silent by titan standards,therefore godzilla could only sense there was danger, due to mothra's power boost giving godzilla planet wide detection

I can't tell if Godzilla is seethingly angry that humans made this thing, or if he's hyperventilating from PTSD because he senses Gidorah.
He's tired from the atomic breath to hollow earth, so he's breathing louder and more frequently in this one.

I agree, even though I don't really like that front view of Mechagodzilla's face. It looks awesome from the side, but it looks weird from the front. But that's just my opinion.

It's good and all but I prefer the Kiryu version (Godzilla against Mechagodzilla), with the original 1974 design being second best.

I don't care what anybody says about this movie, this movie was like the Avengers Endgame for Kaiju fans. So freaking awesome.
No offense, but . . . No. No, it wasn’t. This movie could’ve been, and should’ve been, A LOT better than what we got. Hell, the MonsterVerse, in general, could’ve and should’ve been a lot better than what we got. Godzilla deserves better treatment from Hollywood at this point. :/

@@nerdsman567 I think this movie is very typical of the Godzilla franchise, not just Hollywood. For every Godzilla movie with at least decent human characters you can name 3 others with insufferable ones.
Legitimately well written movies like the orignal Godzilla, Shin Godzilla, and Minus One are all outliers in a franchise rife with schlocky plot and characters.
I'm not complaining though. I still love them all regardless.

This was the last movie my mother watcher together with me before she died. We have seen this movie both in cinema last year and my mom loved it so much, especially the fight Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. 5 months later she died :( It's hard for me to watch this movie or scenes of it in general.

I find it funny that no one points out that Godzilla grabs his hand in pain when he lands that first hit on Mechagodzilla.
I love how with this movie everybody thought Godzilla was weak because he got defeated. But everybody seems to forget is that he uses Atomic breath to drill to the Center of the Earth and fought Kong. And then right after that had to fight Mechagodzilla
I believe he could've put a much better fight if didn't expend so much energy drilling that hole and fighting Kong.
but he used the atomic breath multiple times against kong and didn't look exhausted. at one point he was smiling

Agreed. To hell with Godzilla and Kong's overhyped 'Civil War' rubbish, MechaG was the best part of this film for me.
I like how the “Modern” Mechagodzilla went the MCU Hulkbuster route in making MG a logical and effective counter to Godzilla (or at least _this_ Godzilla):
⚪️Large arms with opposable fingers to outfight Godzilla and his comparatively stubby arms in CQC
⚪️Jets across its body to outmaneuver the usually more sluggish Godzilla (although G’s fight with Kong shows that Godzilla CAN move pretty fast on land if sufficiently pressed to do so).
⚪️An incredibly durable body that, while lacking Ghidorah’s regeneration, was tough enough to hardly _need_ it for it’s intended purpose.
⚪️And a full-body suite of Anti-Titan weapons that cover all the angles
