Good interview, but @tharid, I think in interviews you should try to talk less and focus on clear questions to the interviewer. Nobody watches an interview to learn more about the opinions of the interviewer. ❤
I just saw this and I think that you are absolutely correct! I might've consumed a bit too much caffeine before the interview due to wicked timezone differences :D I'll do better next time!
The experience for sellers should be better too with those changes tho, not just buyers, since sellers will actually be able to play the game without interruption.
nope. Most of the questions were pointless or already asked and answered. Had to turn it off at some point when he started to talk about having a daughter etc. He might have been nervous or might just like to hear himself talking. No hate tho, it just did not met the expectations.
To be honest, it depends a little on what you're looking for. A natural conversation is usually less boring than staged fake interviews. And to be fair, those fake and staged interviews, or at least those perfectly scripted interviews so as not to cast them in that negative light, abound on TH-cam too. I would see it more as an addition to what you've already seen rather than offering something new. Jonathan Rogers definitely won't announce anything new in random interviews and will mostly give the same answers. I mean, it's good feedback for Tharid to learn from, but also, anyone who really enjoys gamers talking about a game without it being perfectly scripted, well, here it is.
On the topic of trying to incentivise players to kill monsters during the campaign: Wouldn't it be then beneficial to skip all uniques as long as possible so you have better chance of better level rewards if they guarantee higher chance of drops for the first kill? This one kind of needed more explanation.
Nettes Interview.
It does. It's just that some things you can buy mtx for don't exist in PoE2. You will still have them, but you won't be able to use them in PoE2. But I think that only affects skill effects and stash tabs. Any equipment mtx will be available and work flawlessly.
just once I wish someone up to date on PoE 2 would do these interviews, so much of this is just Johnathan regurgitating the same stuff he's said before. You needed need the Johnathan to show up you just needed 30 minutes with google.
This. Also that retharid guy used like 1000 words to ask a simple question that was already answered. Nothing personal here it was just awful to listen to him struggling to ask a simple question. He talked more about himself and diablo 4 instead of poe2. Poor Jonathan must have felt like wasting his time. Props to Jessie tho who tried to make the best out of it.
Yeah like 15 minutes research to look over a poe reddit megathread of what was already asked before on previous interviews and this could have been a max 15 minute interview instead of 1h30m. Also I felt like it wasn't even about poe2 but instead about this Tharid guy and his game development knowledge, gaming experience, his feelings and his ideas. What a waste of time that was. Holy smokes.
41:55 "There are stats for basically everything as far as what you want to increase" What about character size? That has been one of the funniest things to see in town. Someone just chilling with MASSIVE character size, or very tiny. In PoE 1, this is restricted to some very rare and expensive items. Can we get other ways to increase/decrease character size in PoE 2 that are more accessible to everyone?
Dunno, I feel like that it will not be path of exile anymore, no more tinkering with your character, but steamlined, telling you what to use and locking you into archetypes. No more gamebreaking stuff that the devs didn't think about and you felt smart by figuring it out. It's fine for a business standpoint but it will be the same 3 or 4 days of gaming per league and waiting for next league as D4
It does not lock you in more than PoE does now. Your class sets your starting position on the tree and what ascendancies you can pick. The game will suggest skills for your class/weapon to make it easier for new players, but you can still use any weapon and pick any skill you like. Passive stat nodes on the tree actually let you pick between str/int/dex (and you don't need to waste most of your points to navigate to life clusters), which opens even more builds.
@@frankstolz From what i've seen it will be really dumbed down, really modern, streamlined. Dunno if there will be place left to convoluted stuff that I like about poe, like making the vaal impurity immune build, or the leech immune build or breaking the game overall. Or even just making builds that are specialized like the deep delving, lab running etc. Things that are not straightforward
I assume you haven't watched any previous interviews. It was already said bazilion times you will still be able to do crazy stuff in the endgame like you can in poe1. Also all the choices for you to tinker with will still be there but for the newbies there will be recommendations provided, so nothing really changed and noone is locking you out of anything.
@@andrasvoros7794 hard to tell since we have not seen the tree, ascendancies, most skill/support gems and gear (uniques). Most of the streamlining is just surface level. They present the game in this class based style to get new players in, but all I've seen so far shows that the character complexity is just one click deeper into the menu than before. The convoluted stuff that will be (mostly) gone is stuff where you had to read the wiki to even know how the stats work (like armor or leech) since they tell you in game now. I don't see how the new systems would prevent you from making very specialized builds.

Chapters when?
"Compensation". Man, it's ridiculous how entitled that word sound when you ask about microtransactions in POE1 for things not in POE2.
Nice but I already went through your twitch vods earlier

there is no lvl scaling on enemys, they would still drop low lvl items when killed later
Will there be bets in PoE2?
Huh? Bats? Um, sure.
