In this video we will be using rank math to optimize your entire WordPress website. Let me show you what we'll be covering in this tutorial. I'm gonna show you how to set up Rank Math properly in the right way. We're gonna talk about all the options and settings in this extensive plugin. I'm also going to show you how to set up Social Sharing the images and the texts. We're going to talk about all the modules like Redirection, Sitemaps, Schema markup, the 404 Monitor and we're going to optimize an entire landing page, so you know how to get those green check marks and rank your website in the search engines. We're also going to talk about the Content AI from Rank Math and I'm gonna teach you everything about Titles, Site Titles, Separators and Meta Descriptions, so you know how to work with it. Let's optimize your website right now.
Login to your WordPress website. If you're still logging in using /wp-admin/... that's not a very safe way, so please watch my tutorial about securing your WordPress website, because you don't want to get hacked! On the left side we go to 'Plugins' over here and we're gonna press 'Add new'. Look for the plugin Rank Math and here we have Rank Math SEO. Press 'Install now'. It's the best WordPress SEO plugin. Actually not exaggerated, it is the best WordPress SEO plugin right now! We press on activate over here. Now you actually want to have a free account because you get keywords suggestions directly from Google. Press 'Connect your account'. And you can log into Facebook, Googl, WordPress.com or use email and password. And if you cannot log in you can choose to 'Register now' over here. Click on it. Use email address, and we're gonna add our name. And we're going to click on continue and register. And then we press on 'Activate now'. Welcome to the Rank Math Setup Wizard. We're going to choose the advanced version of course. And we're gonna press 'Start Wizard'. Rank Math can import SEO settings from other SEO plugins that you have been using before. If you don't have one, you don't see this at all....

Great video, Matt; easy to understand. I have a question about computer speed. All TH-cam website tutorials are so fast while my PC is sleeping. Does yours look fast because you speed it up during editing, or is it that fast? I spend so much time working on my website simply because it's slow.

What you see in tutorials when building a website is (in my case) the true time. The heavy lifting of page builders is being done in your browser, but a good hosting company also makes a difference. So for me that combination is gold 😀👍🏻

Thank you so much Matt. This was a great video. Apologies for my earlier message. I followed another video where I was advised to set up using the easy and not advanced version. A few things did not work for me. I was unable to clear my Yoast SEO, when I pressed clear it said failed. My error log could not be found, not sure why. I would love to optimise and increase my SEO on my existing pages. Do you have a video for that. I am using Elementor not Divi.

Hi Matt, thank you for this video. I am using Rank Math free version and I cannot see the option to make sure that my Nofollow External links is off. Rank math is only showing under general settings on the left hand side 1 option which is Open External Links in New Tab/Window

I'd like to ask a question regarding the Analytics settings at 20:44- I was facing a lot of issues because I could not get these fields to populate, then I discovered I need to sign up a GA4 account separately and create the propery through google (which I think would be a good point to add , as I am a fresh wordpress user). However, google analytics would also like to install that GA4 account into my website, which can be done through google site kit.
I could not find any clear advise on this topic so would appreciate if you can clarify, whether I need to also install the google site kit and connect my website to google analytics? I believe it provides some additional dashboard and stats features, but not sure whether this might impair the site's performance (on Rank Math website they do not recommend to install it in parallel with their plugin).
Again, I am not knowledgable enough to understand what's happening behind the scenes with all of these settings, and whether I should toggle the "Install analytics code" off if I install the google site kit (it would make sense though). I am just wondering whether google analytics is satisfied with me plugging in GA4 account into Rank Math , without actually connecting directly it with google site kit.

Well the theme change is a lot of work, basically building your entire website again, but now in Divi. Then the change from Yoast to Rank Math can be easily done, and can be done before or after the theme change. WooCommerce is also a different system and will not be influenced by the theme or SEO plugin, all information will stay inside of it when changing everything 😀👍🏻

By any chance, does Rank Math sometimes not display the number of images on pages made with builders?
For ex: My sitemap is showing the number of images on posts which were made in Guttenberg. But it does not show the number of images on pages that I created in the Breakdance builder.
Hi there! Thanks for the question. Yeah sometimes this is a issue I also face with Divi. You should ask Rank Math - on their support page - about this. It seems that the relative new Breakdance builder has indeed still some integration issues with Rank Math. My guess is that they are working on it.

Hi there! Thanks for the question! By marking a piece of content as “Pillar Content”, you are telling Rank Math that this is an evergreen piece of content that will remain relevant for years to come.
This is important because it allows Rank Math to build contextual internal links to those pages/posts. This is especially useful for Rank Math users who have multiple posts in the same category, as it allows Rank Math to link them all together.

Hi MrGiuGuz! And thanks for the sub! That is no problem at all. Upon installing you will be asked if you want to migrate everything inside of your website to Rank Math. Just follow along and before Rank Math wants to clean everything from Yoast, make sure to check your posts/pages so that every title and description has been successfully migrated to Rank Math. Once that is the case, you are good! 😊

However, each time I refresh and check back to SEO, it all reverts back to what was originally there. Do you have any idea what could be happening here?
Hi there! That’s odd and not suppose to happen. It could be caused by caching issues? Try to turn of caching plugin to see if that works…

Hello friend, just wanted to know if you have any tutorial on how to change the Mobile Snapshot of my website. Currently, my website mobile view is having some text and part of image cropped thus looking quite bad. Thanks for always doing a good job educating us here.

Hi Hope! No in the video I am using the free version only, NOT the pro! So it should be the same as your version. Unless you have a theme that is interfering with Rank Math, but I highly doubt that.

Hi there! Yeah you should have a .htaccess file on your server. It might be that the file is read-only by your hosting company? You could ask them if it’s in place.
@@WPressDoctor My host company said they use Nginx which uses a different rewrite rule syntax. They said I can’t add or use .htaccess files; however, I can convert .htaccess files to Nginx syntax... What do you recommend? I am not a developer, so I really don't want to get over my head.
Yeah thats another thing indeed and a bit tricky also if you are new to this. Well it should just work fine the way it is right now, as plugins should also make the changes to the NGiNX system. So I would not be to much alarmed.

REALLY good movies you make, I'm a big fan. I have watched this movie a few times BUT! i can use rank math on all my pages, just not the front page. How do I do SEO on it. because in my menu on the left it says kune pages, but not front page.

p.s - to get to 600 words - did you simply double up on the words on your page? also - rank math seo says that the Focus Keyword not found in the URL - yet I have 'nature connection' in the keywords and also in the actual website page URL....so im confused by why it says that? sorry for too many questions!

Well in the beginning its not that important, but as you grow and your website get more pages, products and posts, it could be useful to navigate your website. So keep that in mind when building it right now. Easier to add it in now than to do that later on...
No worries, there is not such a t hing as to many questions 😁. So on my most important pages that I want to rank I do a lot more work to get to a high amount of words. I try to expand them but write good content. On other 'normal' pages that are not going to rank, it does not matter much. Hope that helps!

A ad shows when you are browsing your website on the front end? Well if it’s not Google Ads - you stil might have some kind of malicious file inside your theme or plugins somewhere 😰
Hi! Another amazing video! huge thanks for that! but I do have a problem: re-doing my website and only now changed the custom structure in Permalinks from standard post name to custom: /(website)/news (=category)/(post name). Problem 1:. Somehow my posts still run under /(website)/(post name), so the permalink change hasn't taken effect. Problem 2. Do I have to set up a redirection for each and every post - for all existing posts? Problem 3: What about all future posts? 4. I have a special "Categories" button and added there also: /news (=category). Not sure if it was even necessary and when I want to delete it I get a scary message "you will delete this item for your complete website". Would appreciate a 'redirection'
Hi there and thanks for your questions. You are doing great. Let’s start with 1) Did you save the permalinks twice? It’s needed to rewrite your structure.
2) if you want to make sure everything is redirected, yes this would be smart. So download your sitemap before redirect to excel, then copy all URLs to column 2 and start adjusting. Then upload all to redirection plugin. This could work. Don’t know how many posts you have of course…
3) They will be automatically added to the right structure if changes are made to the permalinks settings.
4) I don’t know about that message. Just create a new fake categorie, make some posts into it and see what happens when you delete it. Trial and error my friend 😀👍🏻

is it ok to have the image title and the alt tag for the image exactly the same, or is it spammy. In the video you just copy and paste the image name in to the alt
Hi Oliver, you can have them both at the same time, but the Title is something your visitors might see if they hover over your image, so keep that in mind. Only Alt text and file name are important for as far as I know 😀

Hi there! Thank you for your question! Well best practice is when your website is reasy for launch (but not optimized) to already put it out there and submit to search engines. This way, the search engines see that pages are being changed regularly… so it’s a signal that the website is “alive” and “growing”.
Hi Matt, I am now working on my pages as per your landing page demo in this video. When I try to add my permalink, I am told I cannot do this. I searched for how to enable permalinks, and followed a video where I changed mine to custom structure from day. But I still cannot update my permalink. Do you have a video for this. IT actually does work automatically. Google crawls your sitemap multiple times a day (if you change a lot) so no worries there!

I don’t know why you want to do this but it’s pretty easy. To change the homepage go to “settings” -> “reading” then change the page. Is that what you meant?
One thing I am confused about - is the "landingspage" meant to be blank? Cause I just followed your guide and made it like you did and there is no content on it. I already had a pre existing "home page" that I still need to optimize with keywords, keyphrases, meta text and so forth... I am just worried people will surf on to a blank page with the landing page I just made. Or is it meant to be like a "bait" for the search engine? Hope my question makes sense... thanks again for another great tutorial!
edit: oh I just realized... landingpage = home page. so I created a 2nd page by accident... can I just "trash" this one, or is this going to create problems for the search engine indexing? :-(
Hi Kate! No you missed the point of a landingspage. It’s a specific page created to rank on a specific topic. So you have to make a new page, change every bit of content and then optimize it also with Rank Math 👍🏻
