Yes and they also updated the game play fixed pokechecking and did another of other fixes and updates it is probably the only one out of the three that really utilizes the frostbite engine the way it was mentioned to be used

As an avid nhl fan im glad to see this series get some recognition. This is 100% better then madden in every way. Ea Vancouver are the devs there not perfect and have had some major hiccups along the way but they do try and do listen to the community. Ultimate team is obviously one criticism but they make it so that you can still get good players without having to buy packs playing the challenges and rush

I've been playing the NHL games for as long as they've been making them, so probably not a big surprise to hear I'm a Canadian. Crazy seeing you guys playing some Chel. It's not as flawed as Madden, they've focused a ton on customization the past few years, but to be fair, it's always been pretty good. It has a lot of its own flaws that become apparent at high level competition, glitch goals would be comparable to plays in Madden that get abused due to them being meta. They often just do the bare minimum to call it more than a roster update. The HUT mode is just as predatory as MUT, with a few small changes this year to make it better for F2P, but they want you spending money. From what I understand, it's shift to frostbite went a lot smoother than the other franchises did. And don't let OJ play net if you want to have fun. He can be in perfect position and because he's a human goalie, it'll still go through him. Goaltending is far and away the hardest position in the game to play.
North Europe loves hockey games aswell. I always thought their market share is FIFA>NHL>MADDEN. Just because nobody outside USA cares about American Soccer but tbh USA is a big market.

Well Canada and Europe buys hockey games but yeah NHL has always been the EA game that gets the less money, but also the game is made in vancouver by hockey fans. And btw looking at your players you did the expansion draft so your roster is pretty garbage and you would probably finish dead last in the real NHL.
As someone who’s bought his fair share of NHL games over the years and only recently stopped buying them (NHL 19 being my last purchase) I think my overall analysis of the franchise is that the decline is definitely there but to what very little credit I can give EA is that unlike with Madden where they’ve stripped everything away at least with NHL they’ve more or less still kept the bare essentials, granted while still tearing out a lot more but it feels like there’s still areas of the game you can at least play and engage with
@Christopher Knauf I'd suggest buying a month of EA play subscription service, if you're not ready to spend 60$ on the game. I believe it costs only around 5$ for a month. With it you can play NHL 22 for 10 hours, and you also get full access to other EA games.

If EA actually ports NHL to PC then they can attract a new huge international audience. They should also release a demo for it for players who have never experienced a nhl game before.

I actually would probably buy it. The only sports game I bought gtom EA was the UFC games. Bought one NHL game when I had my ps4. Think it was 19 or 20 can't remeber but I loved it. I was watching this stream, it literally took them 3 HOURS to customize their teams and lost 3 games straight but man by the end they were so close to winning! That tension was real! OJ the Bot was the MVP of all the games!

The only thing missing from NHL is an online franchise mode you can play with friends. Me and my buddies always have fantasy drafts together on Madden. Still can't believe they don't have this feature yet. Best you can do is a fantasy draft where you get to only play 1 season.
You guys should play World Of CHEL. You have your own customizable player and you unlock clothes/gear/accessories for that character and can play online modes like Ones where it's half ice hockey with 1 goalie and 3 skaters playing free for all. There's also 3v3 in CHEL that has no offsides rules and any penalty is an automatic penalty shot, plus they have money pucks that give you +2 or +3 points when you score, along with negative pucks that give you a point and also subtract points from your opponent. It's fucking fun fast paced arcade hockey.
As an avid, Swedish hockey fan, watching you play NHL is so fucking funny😂 Hockey is a really fast sport, where everything happens at once, unlike NFL which is at a snails pace in comparison. The NHL games deserve more attention from you guys. They're at least 100 times better than FIFA and Madden!
there's stoppages in hockey all the time. Sure, there's no huddle and snap, but lets not act like hockey is constant. You have the faceoffs, icing penalties, penalty box stoppages, timeouts, etc. Hockey has it's moments, but football definitely has way more opportunities to be exciting imo. I appreciate bobbing and weaving with the puck, and a good stretch and grab by a goalie. Other than that, the sport has never really grabbed me like basketball and football has. Hell, I think baseball is better in some regards and that game takes forever to watch. The sport is pretty basic when it comes to showcasing a given player's athleticism, which is where i think a sport's value shines.

NHL is so slept on man, especially World of Chel. No microtransactions, just fun online, pvp gameplay. Actually takes skill to be good (or cheese, depending on how you view it). Wish it would come to PC too.
The x factors are a huge new gameplay element they added this year as well as a crisper engine..makes a world of difference. The x factors alone and extra traits superstars get make the gameplay feel more fleshed out with more option. Definitely 100x better then 2015 chel.

Joe, NHL has been the same game since NHL 15. it has been almost as bad as Madden with copy and paste, focus on HUT (like MUT) and ignoring single player and customization options.

I personally love hockey and hockey video games (especially when compared to the other sports games) so I resent that “nobody cares about hockey” comment but you’re not entirely wrong either. NHL hockey gets way less attention here in the States than NFL football and it’s amazing to see the stark contrast in the amount of effort put into each annual NHL game comparatively to Madden (which you think would get the lion’s share of attention and work but it seems to be the inverse).
I think it’s just the simple fact of needing to incentivize people to keep buying the game in the hopes that they’ll have that one or two features back in the game
There is one big difference between Madden and NHL games - NHL games took a few years break some time ago and the devs are actually very passionate about the sport. Madden? I think you know.

Hockey in general is such an underrated sport that so many people just overlook and never give the time to experience. Kinda hard to watch when your teams bad or historically bad like my blackhawks but still sucha fun sport to watch. Especially when it gets to playoff time, no other sport comes close to how thrilling playoff hockey is.

Graphics have always improved regularly. The physics not so much. I've been playing since 98.

Agree. Based off their modern gameplay mechanics they're using it's the best they've done so far. Fixed a lot of major issues I had with previous games

The only thing missing from NHL is an online franchise mode you can play with friends. Me and my buddies always have fantasy drafts together on Madden. Still can't believe they don't have this feature yet. Best you can do is a fantasy draft where you get to only play 1 season.
They had it back on the 360/PS3 games. Been waiting for it to come back since then

You guys should play World Of CHEL. You have your own customizable player and you unlock clothes/gear/accessories for that character and can play online modes like Ones where it's half ice hockey with 1 goalie and 3 skaters playing free for all.
There's also 3v3 in CHEL that has no offsides rules and any penalty is an automatic penalty shot, plus they have money pucks that give you +2 or +3 points when you score, along with negative pucks that give you a point and also subtract points from your opponent. It's fucking fun fast paced arcade hockey.

Hockey is a really fast sport, where everything happens at once, unlike NFL which is at a snails pace in comparison.

there's stoppages in hockey all the time. Sure, there's no huddle and snap, but lets not act like hockey is constant. You have the faceoffs, icing penalties, penalty box stoppages, timeouts, etc.
Hockey has it's moments, but football definitely has way more opportunities to be exciting imo. I appreciate bobbing and weaving with the puck, and a good stretch and grab by a goalie. Other than that, the sport has never really grabbed me like basketball and football has. Hell, I think baseball is better in some regards and that game takes forever to watch.
The sport is pretty basic when it comes to showcasing a given player's athleticism, which is where i think a sport's value shines.

NHL is so slept on man, especially World of Chel. No microtransactions, just fun online, pvp gameplay. Actually takes skill to be good (or cheese, depending on how you view it). Wish it would come to PC too.

The x factors are a huge new gameplay element they added this year as well as a crisper engine..makes a world of difference. The x factors alone and extra traits superstars get make the gameplay feel more fleshed out with more option. Definitely 100x better then 2015 chel.

I didn't even realize they make yearly NHL games. I used to play them, well, at least one of them, back on the Xbox 360 I think. Maybe I'll check out the newest one. If I remember correctly, the older ones let you fight people, like if you slammed someone against the wall, they'd get angry and you'd fist fight. I wonder if they still have that. I think they used to have bloody injuries as well.
Joe, NHL has been the same game since NHL 15. it has been almost as bad as Madden with copy and paste, focus on HUT (like MUT) and ignoring single player and customization options.

Hockey has been EA's best sports game for year . And when you play 6v6 online it's a lot of fun .
and the fact that hockey is a 'faster' pacing sport, and the movement is harder, and yet shows just how lazy az madden is.
I personally love hockey and hockey video games (especially when compared to the other sports games) so I resent that “nobody cares about hockey” comment but you’re not entirely wrong either.
NHL hockey gets way less attention here in the States than NFL football and it’s amazing to see the stark contrast in the amount of effort put into each annual NHL game comparatively to Madden (which you think would get the lion’s share of attention and work but it seems to be the inverse).
Funny thing is madden is less popular worldwide as hockey is a sport played worldwide.

Hockey in general is such an underrated sport that so many people just overlook and never give the time to experience. Kinda hard to watch when your teams bad or historically bad like my blackhawks but still sucha fun sport to watch. Especially when it gets to playoff time, no other sport comes close to how thrilling playoff hockey is.
2009-2015 Chicago was amazing to watch winning three cups.
