KISS - Up From The Ashes. The 1978 Album KISS Never Made. Slightly revised. A WHAT IF FANTASY ALBUM

- As the old saying goes. This is the same thing only different. I made a one song change, and altered the prelude from my previous version.
PLEASE READ THIS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS VIDEO IS SUPPOSED TO BE.
Before I started this project I watched all the videos called What if KISS Released an Album in 1978. They were all premised on using the solo albums songs to accomplish this. Much to my disgust their tracklists were unimpressive and most un-KISS-like, While they all just talked the talk, and boy did they talk. I walked the walk and created a very KISS-like album using the solo album songs, that they could have released in 1978. I created an original album cover design using the the trading cards with bubble wrapper design because those happened to come out in 1978. This is slightly revised from my original upload. I swapped out Living in Sin for See You in Your Dreams.

I love this album! I'd buy it if it were real.
As I said on your other video I much prefer Peter's "You Matter To Me" over THAT'S THE KINDA SUGAR PAPA LIKES, but I'm not bitching! Really glad this popped up in my YT feed. It also reminded me how many great songs Paul's solo LP has.

I have done this over the years. You can really make some cool slbume this way. My current idea has some similarities to yours. Here is mine.

@@garyschartz3023 Cool track list, although "When You Wish Upon A Star" would be better as the last song. Similar to Ringo Starr's "Good Night" - the last song on the Beatles White Album.
@@sonijam I listened to it that way. Either way worked for me. I chose Fractured Mirror because I have always loved that piece of music. I do get what you are saying. This exercise shows with a little effort on the part of KISS something more lasting and down right excellent could have been created.
See You In Your Dreams is a great track from KISS, in 1976 from Rock And Roll Over and from the Gene Simmons KISS solo album in 1978, and now from the other album from 1978 by KISS, Up From The Ashes 😊😊👍👍
I give the rock n roll over version the edge! It has a fly by the seat of your pants feel to it, in the best way!!!

Outdoors I hope. The sound of 70's KISS outdoors in the summer, and especially while smelling that grilled food. That sounds so awesome. I'm so happy to hear you enjoy this.
Great work. Interesting album title.. I was under the impression that a possible KISS album around this time had “Dragonfly” as a title
That was from a video where that person made up their own 1978 KISS album.

@@louisborselio8608 I think when you go back to the time and look at it now. I don't think the 4 albums get enough recognition in regards to the history of rock. What other band ever did anything even remotely close to this type of concept and let each album sell on its own pretty cool idea then and probably pretty cool still today

I wish I could make this a physical thing. It was me using youtube editor that allowed me to tighten up the songs giving it the flow it has. Some of the songs have as much as 8 seconds of blank space in between. I don't have the equipment to do that on CD.
@@louisborselio8608 I understand, but there is still a way to do it, just do it the old school way, copy the songs/tracks from the KISS solo albums and put them on to a blank CD and also a blank tape, why not?? That is still a great way to do it if all other options don't work
@@manningfinancial Yeah, but those long spaces would really bother me. I have a CD recorder that accomplished that, but it doesn't work well anymore.

I dig that artwork, they used that on the trading cards wrapper.
It was my best option. the cards came out in 1978 and I said that's the perfect idea for an album cover.

I've put together a playlist similar to this myself. The only thing I would add/change is replacing your Peter Criss song with "I Can't Stand The Rain" and ending the album with Paul Stanley's "Goodbye". I think that what begs to be a closer.
i think you meant Can't Stop. You Wrote Can't Stand. Lot's of people think Goodbye should be the closer, which is precisely why I chose not to use it. That's already the closer for HIS album. As for ''I can't Stop The Rain'' I wanted no ballads.
Seems kind of hard to follow "Rip It Out" with anything other than "Speedin' Back To My Baby," but "Wouldn't You Like To Know Me" & I dare say "That's The Kind Of Sugar Papa Likes" do come close when timed just right.
It'd be nice to have "Hooked On Rock 'N' Roll," "Tossin' And Turnin'" or "Rock Me Baby"--(maybe after "Wouldn't You Like To Know Me") on there, as well. :)
Delete "It's Alright", and add either "Hold Me, Touch Me" at the end or put "Tonight You Belong to Me" as the 1st track, and bump the rest down. "It's Alright" is easily the worst song on Paul's album. "Kiss The Girl Goodbye" could also be in the middle somewhere. Otherwise not bad...
Whoops, one other change - "Tunnel of Love" instead of "See You in Your Dreams", since they likely wouldn't put a song already previously recorded on a KISS album again.

@@louisborselio8608 Uhmm, yeah. Doesn't mean it isn't a good tune, just means out of the entire record, it's the weakest track. I can also argue for "Take Me Away (Together As One) as a sub for "It's Alright".
@@aceannese You can't just take out and put in songs. The whole video would have to be redone and uploaded. And I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT. Besides, the songs I selected are what is most likely to what KISS would have done as a group. Not any one member's personal project.
It wont make any sense at all including in this fictional album. The song was already in another album. You could add See you tonite. It dont matter if its a ballad type of song.
IT MATTERS TO ME. THIS IS INTENDED TO BE A KISS ALBUM. Watch other people's videos of What if KISS made a 1978 album. They list solo album songs for their ideas. But I strongly disagreed with their choices. Check out You Wanted This Mess. You Got This Mess. You might like that better.

My apologies. My original version has a full detail explanation that this is a total fantasy album. You can go there and read it. But even this one does say The 1978 Album KISS (Never) Made. So you can't get too mad at me. Trust me, this was never intended to be clickbait.
You know anything about sequencing an album for a full listening experience? That’s what this is. It’s a WHAT IF album. Instead of the solo albums, what would a new full album from the band sound like with the best material they had individually, yet sequenced (songs in a certain order) to deliver the classic feel one would have when hearing a new KISS album in the 70s. DAMMIT!!! Relax and enjoy the music.
I remember a time not too long ago (maybe 10 years?) when people would post fantasy albums just like this on the KISS forums and folks would good naturedly post their own versions instead of being jerks in the internet handing out thumbs down like they’re the music TH-cam cops. FOH!!
