@@kylesparks1826 no it wasnt. Jazz wasnt even invented when clarinet was used for that purpose. It was used for classical coming from the chalameu in the 1700s. Jazz wasnt popular with clarinet until the 1920s and 30s

Oboe is also much more fragile and more related (in pitch, also only kinda) to the flute. The oboe requires a tremendously small amount of air but pretty high pressure to play, while the clarinet is more of a half and half or maybe even a bit more air than pressure. Oboes are also often used to tune bands prior to performing (often may be done on the stage)
I admire your ability to play both. My daughter just started playing the clarinet. I heard once you learn one instrument all others are easy to learn. Is that true?

I am just a student and not a director so take my words with a grain of salt, but the people I know who switch between instruments play more than just the one the switch between.

@friziafroze - when I watch your video on youTube, the picture is mirror imaged - It makes it seem like your right hand is higher than your left ( and 2nd octave key of the oboe also seems to be on the left ) but in real life, it's the other way around.
Clarinet is mostly a concert instrument just because the oboe plays concert pitch dosent mean it's for concert now Clarinet is also a Jazz instrument because it plays higher than most instruments except flute piano and piccolo as far as I'm aware anyway, the Clarinet can play all songs btw and it seems as if your insecure about the oboe being close to being the same as Clarinet also the oboe can be marched and can be played in jazz also that oboe has some problems tou should get it to the shop and get it fixed

Not exactly. But in Concert Wind Bands, clarinets tend to be most numerous. Tangentially, Stroh string instruments are better for acoustic outdoor use.
Your sound quality on clarinet is very airy. Focus on not puffing your cheeks along with using air from your diaphragm and driving it through the bell of your clarinet. Set your lips more precisely wrapped around the clarinet while dropping your jaw a bit.
Ok look so I hope you don’t think I’m sounding rude bc it just made me a little mad when you called the parts wrong names but honestly it’s chill bc there five different names to remember but the correct names are Mouthpiece Barrel Top joint Bottom joint And bell Also the clarinet can play quite literally any genre of music it just depends on if the person can play it bc I play fur Elise on mine all the time while I also play marches and stuff also with playing your clarinet I recommend using a 2-2.5 since your newer it will help you play easier

I do think that people are bringing it back in modern jazz bands. For example, my school jazz band has 4 clarinets this year, including me.
