  • Apple last week released the iPhone 12 Pro, which is being sold alongside the iPhone 12, 12 mini, and 12 Pro Max. The Pro Max has the best camera of the bunch, but since it's not out yet, we thought we'd take a look at the improvements introduced in the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ and see how camera quality compares to the iPhone 11 Pro.

@@suprxmefire9497 I bought the 12 pro to test out and returned after a day.
Night selfies looked great they just give a quick flash before taking so you still won’t really be able to VC in the low lighting
Main night shots were just 1 sec faster, not much diff
Daylight lacked contrast, WAY too much smoothing but it was crisp
      What your thoughts ?

I felt the same but in reality the 12 is it’s bc we’re use to filters or to a cartoony world so it catches ur eye more but I got the 12 pro and it’s crisp u can zoom in all the way and the detail is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 and the bridge was much more clean and detailed. realistically there isn’t that much shadows and the gravel is that detailed if ur eye sight is as good I’m impressed on how it’s able to see as good as my 180 peripheral vision very impressed 👁👽

I honestly see little to no different between both cameras. I use the filmic pro app on my 11 pro max and, if we are being honest, the only difference between the two is the Dolby Vision. To your point, about 5% of people are going to actually take full advantage of that feature of give a damn. I think the whole “magnetic” accessories thing is all just a lame marking ploy. I’m interested to see how many people are angry when they drop their phone and that magnetic case comes off after a 6 foot drop. 5g speed is rad, but honestly how much are people going to notice? If you currently have an X or above-the phones are fast. This is only a huge different if you had like a 7 and are upgrading. It’s not dialup, people. I feel like they are mostly pushing this phone as “the best iPhone ever” to market it for wireless service carriers. Great video, thanks for the info!

I postponed buying an iPhone last year in hopes of USB-C for this year and a screen that doesn't scratch as easily as the 11 series. So ok, the improvements in lowlight capibility are certainly interesting but the downgrade in battery life is disappointing. One nice bonus of the new 12 series is that the modem appears to perform better in poor reception areas. I ordered the 12 Pro but I'm still in doubts if I'll send it back and switch to the regular 12, which weighs less and has slightly better battery life.

The iPhone 11 Pro takes photos that look real. If you use it for taking photos of faces, skin colors and textures are retained so you can perform editing on them either using IOS or 3rd party software. The iPhone 12 on the other hand over processes images to the extent skins textures are lost, skin colors can look orange and details like eye brow definition are removed which cannot reversed or turned off. I recently bought a 12 Pro as an upgrade but returned it after performing side by side tests with my 11 Pro. The 12 Pro main lens is softer than the 11 Pro's so you will see less sharpness if you print big. 12 Pro photos/portraits can look unnatural and the processing cannot be turned off. Deep Fusion is doing a hell of a lot of processing in the iPhone 12 and it is clearly not refined yet as it gets things wrong in many scenarios. If you can live with this, the 12 Pro is a great bit of hardware spoiled by software. IOS in the iPhone 12 series takes away control and decision making from the user when it comes to the camera. Deep Fusion is deciding how our photos should look, not us. Are Apple over stepping the mark?, I'd say so. I love Apple products, especially the 11 Pro but this will be my last Apple phone if Apple continue down this path of not letting us turn certain features on or off.

Night mode is only on the Wide and Ultra Wide lenses (plus the front camera) on the iPhone 12 Pro. If you try to use the Telephoto lens at 2x and there's not enough light, the iPhone will automatically switch over to the Wide lens and digitally zoom it. It's mostly invisible to users, but ever since Apple added a second lens with the iPhone 7 Plus, it has used all of its lenses and the resulting pic comes from whichever lens (or sometimes a blend) produces the best-looking result, and that means it'll sometimes deliver a digitally zoomed image rather than optically zoomed one.

    • @TimTheus
      @TimTheus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I’d definitely say it’s sharpened more. That’s my conclusion after a week with the 12 Pro. There’s not even more detail than on the XS to which I compared it to. The XS in fact gave a lot more pleasing colors straight out of the camera app. The 12 pro often just looks over the top, over processed or oversharpened plus too much noise reduction. The XS gives cleaner results.
Indoors with less light and at night, it’s of course a big difference and the 12 pro delivers better photos than every iPhone before.

The iPhone 12 are forcing too much noise reduction and sharpening together with some AI stuff to the photos that often smudge some fine detail. I compared them side by side. You can add plenty of post processing and make the XS photos look like the 12‘s photos. But you cannot undo what the 12 automatically and by default does to the photos...

Of course there being only a very very small difference in general image quality speaks against the iPhone 12, they should have built the larger sensor into the small 12 pro too, not just the Pro Max. The competition put larger sensors in their higher end models since a while now. Also the tele lens sensor is too small, and the tele lens on the Pro Max will have a smaller F- Stop, letting in 1/3 of a stop less light than the 12Pro. This is the price you pay for the slightly longer lens. Not good.

When I was the age of the kid at 6:00, smartphones barely shot hd and sd (576i) camcorders were still around... And it wasn't long ago, was it?
By the way I appreciate iPhone 12 has more DR, but still don't like its washed out look I often see on social media. HDR must be properly handled, and Apple to me, seem like a kid playing with it. Not to mention the lens flare, which is omnipresent and horrible!
I preferred if the native-camera footage looked more like the iphone 7, but of course with less noise and less crushing/clipping.
Of course we're dealing with small sensors and not so valuable optics, so, there's not much else to ask at the end of the day.

I'm not sure if this guy is somewhat biased towards the 12 pro but damn the color looks way nicer on the 11 pro. Especially when he was comparing the HDR(12 pro) vs normal (11 pro) , that HDR was honestly trash.
