I hate how Russ is gettin all this hate. This man was a beast. And have to say, an absolute worker. Yes, he can miss a lot, but he surely will give his 100% in every game. I really don't get the hate to a person that has never been involved in something bad, looks like a family man and play at his maximum level every day (even if he fails, I know)

he gets hate because he cant adapt, not because hes a bad player. he got traded to the lakers and literally couldnt set up any play, no screens, no pull up jumpers, no cutting, skills that even bad role players have. He had an entire year to change his style but still couldnt hit 3s

because it's not a morality contest or a participation/effort contest. it's about who can win. I agree the personal criticism is crazy and people go overboard. but at the end of the day no one wants a stat padder that doesn't play a winning style, much like James harden. professional criticism is warranted.

People forget how unstoppable russ was in 2014-15 when KD went down, I watched damn near every game that season and once russ got back from his hand injury, it was on a whole nother level, he was doing things where I was like wtf, this is literally like playing 2k, i remember watching that 76ers game, when he went coast to coast pass ish smith and dunk that MFer but even before that, he started the game so hot he was hitting jumper after jumper and had a couple heat check 3’s, I was amazed i never seen anything like it, it was almost as if the 76ers was damn near shut down by just 1 player that game, and russ would do that to almost every team that year, he was unstoppable

@@alvarojavier6274i honestly beg to differ. It was the teams construction that was bad and the injuries of really important players that fucked russ and kd over. Even with pg and russ, Andre roberson was their 2nd anchor on defense. Apart from kd/pg (before ibaka became a stretch big), there weren't too many good shooters on that team after harden left. The winning never came because of genuine bad luck that everyone conveniently forget. Yes he choked a lot before but that was before his true prime and and mvp seasons. It's not him not being a winning player, it's just harder to build a winning team around a guard that doesn't really shoot that well + coach that just let the entire scheme be russ gets ball, russ gives ball or dunks ball

Every team LeBron has gone to has gone from being horrible or mediocre to championship caliber while making others better. Lebron could go score over 30+ a night easily and often even does. Hell, he has, turned it on to score over 50+ several times. He legit likes getting others involved and anyone that has, ever played with him calls him a basketball servant, because of his knowledge of the game and putting folks in the right place.
Paul George was already an all star dude. Bradley Beal and Oladipo both played very well without Russ. People like Russ's hustle, but he is not on the level of other greats when it comes to making other's better. He just ain't. He's very ball dominant like a Harden. He never developer quite and the proof is having folks like a Durant and yet taking more shots than the literal BEST shooter on his team and league at the time. Even better than Curry for a time.

@kerrydaniels8460 : Paul George and Bradley Beal had their Best scoring seasons playing with Russ. Now that you brought up KD..He also won 3 Scoring TITLES playing with Russ. Both of them chocked against the Warriors in 2017 and had KD came back probably still could have challenged them again for a berth to the Finals. He has His Limitations as a Shooter and makes questionable decisions at times but his ability to make his Teammates better is understated & Underrated. Lebron hasn't consistently shown the ability to play very well without the Ball in his hands and has had the Benefit of being 'the system'/ primarily Ball handler everywhere he has played in his career.

This year alone at like 36 dude still avaraged over 30 ppg and didn't have the ball in his hand anywhere NEAR what he used to. AD is who he had to make step up more. He beat GSW something Russ never does in the playoffs. He ended up making the Lakers worst, because he was, too ball dominant.
Same when he was with KD. KD won scoring champ despite not getting the ball as much. No way should you be shooting the ball more than your best shooter on the team on the regular. Just no. It's why russ can put up certain numbers individually, but come playoffs people actually show up and the hero ball doesn't work. I love Russ, but he has, flaws dude and his biggest one is getting others to play better. He just keeps the ball too much and doesn't distribute like he should which is why he is struggling and is bounced around now. He just never made others better as both those players you mentioned already were balling hard. Lebron makes literal scrubs go to the finals. Thunder til this day are doing decent while when folks like lebron leave cavs were literally worst in the league by far with hoooorible record.
If they were so great why did players get traded away? Because it didn't work with russ. If russ was making everyone else so much better why would KD leave? He wasn't winning it with russ and he knew.

Forty-one games into the season, Westbrook was averaging 30.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game, marking the latest anyone had averaged a triple-double since Robertson in 1966-67, when he became the first player to average a triple-double for an entire season (30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists) Russ was unstoppable during his peak years no doubt. Doesn’t deserve all the disrespect he gets thrown at his way.

I still think Russ had to play hero ball in his mvp year. His teammates wouldn’t get in Rhythm sure but none of them were considered good shooters or even good role players. Jokic also would get bounced early while Murray was out because he didn’t have help.

Okay so ..... correct me if I am flaunting ignorance or if I am off base .... but I firmly believe that KD and Russ would have gotten a ring with the thunder if the organization had the foresight to see James Harden's greatness and take on the luxury tax to pay him what he was worth.
It is a terrible shame that they let that man go to Houston while he was ascending into his prime.

Disappointed this time around. Vast majority of Russ teammates were not ball handlers. If they were that good they would be productive when he was off the court but they weren’t. Comparing KDs success with a superteam to his is insane. Much more I could say but I digress. I thought Nonstop would be the one platform to not jump in on the bandwagon

    He was an unstoppable force!
People like to highlight that all those stats never led to anything significant and that's somewhat fair but the eventual champion is normally a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd seed level "team", with an outlier here and there with either a 4th or 5th seed.
If we are just taking the modern era into accout, a player normally needs to be on a #1 seeded team to increase their odds of becoming a champion and i believe Russ has been on only two #1 seeded teams?
One of those seasons, he was injured in the first round, his team did win that round but were eliminated without him in the 2nd rd.
Since then he has mostly been on #4 or #5 type seeded teams, one season where he didn't qualify(2021/2022) and one season where he was in a #8 vs #1 first rd matchup.
The last two postseasons he was on a #5 seed that lost it's top two players(Kawhi and PG) and a #4 seed that lost it's top player(Kawhi)
This happens to great players in nba history.
Who you play with it is not as important and how strong the team is.
We just a team with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, and Chris Paul not even make the playoffs.
Russ has played with some of the best players but only his OKC teams with KD were truly top level.

No one saying Russ is trash in his prime… it’s his recent plays that’s the problem. His rockets, wizards, lakers days. The amount of money he was getting paid vs his production on the court. And his zero self awareness, that’s the issue
