    It might be correct to speak of investments when it comes to federal roads: Tolls have indeed been raised recently to finance steady state. With a view to rail however, there has just been massive overspending of public funds that will never pay off. Would not call that investment.
    The same holds for multi-billion subsidies such as battery factories or a Tesla factory in Berlin. Reducing such spending could potenially serve to target public spending, if interest rates keep low and German Länder stopped disbursing federal funds on what is Länder competence.

    Weirdly impressive, business-like guy for a politician from a left of center party. Trilingual and speaks English perfectly, studied in Paris as well as Harvard and Chicago Booth where he got a doctorate... I need to tip my hat. ( I don't have any doctorate!) Seems too good to be true? The German Economic Minister Habeck seems like a total bozo nobody respects internationally. Hard to reconcile these 2 both speaking for the most important economy in europe...😂

    01:57 Germany has around 3.3 million companies. Only around 440 of them are listed on the stock exchange.
    It is a big mercantilist country (I sell to you but I do not buy from you..) They hate public and transparent accounts (like the New York Stock Exchange) In short, a complicated market for complicated people.

      Average MAGA big brain comment ... lmao
      The reason the US has a trade deficit is because pretty much all of the prodcuts are simply not well made. Why should I buy an american product if its just more expensive than a european one or has a worse quality? Trump will never understand noone treats the US "badly", the EU even pushes for free trade agreements, but the US is simply exporting mainly bullshit. The reason I dont drive a Ford is because their products are trash, the reason I dont buy a Tesla is because Musk is an crazy idiot. All these silicon valley tech bros KNOW the regulations in Europe regarding data protection and privacy, they ignore it, get a penalty and start to cry afterwawrds. The US truly transformed from a country you can look up to to a shithole, but thats because of the ignorance of greedy tech bros and a radicalisation of republicans.
      But sure, you can also start to introduce tariffs and call everyone else "mercantilistic". Good luck with your golden age, burger people!

    • @PhilKri
      @PhilKri 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Increasing the national debt should never be a no-brainer, and rightly so. But your link to allegedly high spending on social migrants is completely out of thin air. High subsidies for unproductive industries and excessive bureaucracy are starting points for savings.
      In addition, Germany must significantly increase its foreign policy budgets, including military and development aid, to defend its and Europe's interests on the world stage. The same applies to infrastructure, economic competitiveness, and pensions. Every euro not invested now will cost Germany at least twice as much in two or three decades, not including the social upheavals already becoming visible throughout the western world.

    • @marcschliebs2557

      @@marcschliebs2557Cutting foreign aid will automatically lead to human suffering. While we obviously cant feed the whole world by ourselves it for sure is in our interest to pay our share in foreign aid as ensuring safety and a good enough standard of living in those countries leads to less refugees and steadier circumstances in those countries. Also we are the third biggest Economy in the world, so who else?
