So in love with this acoustic-set! I haven't seen one performance by Warpaint that wasn't gorgeous. Such lovely gals, and I just adore them all! Literally, every show they do, leaves me speechless all the way through. This album still has to be my most favorite of the year. I'm pretty damn sure I've listened to it every day since it came out. Oh boy, I'm a Warpaint addict!
Jake Bliss I've been a Warpaint addict every day for almost seven years now. i know exactly how you feel. Two years since this album dropped and still never gets old. this time Heads Up has been in constant rotation every day.
I can't speak enough of this band. I am officially addicted. Killler asymmetrical arrangements, always changing, sexy, bombing basslines, can't say enough!!!!! Did I mention killer basslines? She plays way up in the register and it just cuts through the mix! I LOVE the basslines!!!! Great guitar riffs!!! "Keep it Healthy' has a 5/4 16/4 time signature, maybe an 21/4 as a whole, but no specific metric reference other than the killer guitar riff that in it's own Zeppelinesque way says "I'm here"! Maybe 5/4, 8/4, 8/4. Doesn't matter. They weren't thinking that. They just F%#@ing played it!!!! Wow!
Well, they all play pretty good! they harmonize fantastic with their voices and it's so cool how there's a part "C" in their songs where the rythym changes. They are so good because they have their "own" thing when you listen to them. Great
I've been a big fan for five or so years, but just seeing this for the first time. Holy shit what a performance - their album production style is usually pretty high, studio rich, lots of layers... To strip these songs down like this is incredible.
Cant believe ive only just found this, having been a fan many moons. KEXP had them do a most beautiful set of their new album, 'radiate like this' which I have been listening to muchos muchos recently. They're bloody brillo x
Almost sums up why I love this band soo much, using Paint-Tubs as Drums. I think considering their Band-Name they should start incorporating other paint-related objects into their music. Brushes next week……

I've been following this band ever since I saw them live (recorded..see my channel) at the Big Chill Festival in England a few years ago. Since then they have matured into a truly fine band. I'm so pleased to see they have stayed together, great musicians and wonderful vocal harmonies. Stick at it girls...you are amazing!!
I remember your myspace, and the 5 songs you picked as your portfolio. It was a whole new world to me in my adolescence. I am glad you are still there, going on.
Every year (for years), every shroom season I come back and get hooked one this again. Love it. Today I bought a bass and came back just to learn to play bass like she does.
Alongside Dinosaur Jr. my favourite performance in KEXP You know, they all got sense of melody that "faded away" quickly in the corners of mind, and when you hear it, sometimes you can get feeling, that all those sounds flying around somewere in atmosphere, and they got skills to catch it know what i mean ?
Well Sagovia , Itzhak Perlman (one of the best violinists in the wold ) , Roy Clark, Danny Gatton , Phil Keaggy , B.B. King , Albert King . Steve Lukather, Joe Bonamassa , Carlos Santana , Django all have small hands or short stubby fingers except for Django who only has 2 f'n fingers on his left hand and these are all musicians musicians ! One more person on youtube that has no idea what they'r talking about. Do you even know how many octaves a guitar has or how to harmonize a C scale ? And actually none of these chicks play beyond an advanced beginner level . I'm thinking the requirements to be in this band were to be 1) Hot and 2) play a LITTLE !
larry scheller You could also be an advanced guitar player with great technique and never make a good tune in your entire life. You can be technical all day long but if you don't have the creativity and imagination to back it up then for me personally.....I just don't give a shit. I would much prefer something simple that sounds good over something technical that just sounds like a bunch of notes jumbled together.
''undertow'' of their first album was a top 3 track off one tape. such an incredibly beautiful song. stand out band.go girls, superb musicianship .....{splinta 73}...now iv'e got you in the undertow...............
This is an older performance I just got to but the discussion about Warpaint starting in 2004 and not recording until 2010ish (?) is sort of like The Beatles because they sort of had beginnings in 1957 with lineup changes and not releasing a proper album until 1963. So that's all I have to say about that. I've been bingeing Warpaint shows and interviews for the past several days. I've liked them a lot for several years but never really looked them up on You Tube. Anyway it's lots of fun. They are so awesome as everyone knows. Stella drives the band with funky rhythm patterns and the intermingling vocals and harmonizing is so trance inducing with funky bass. Acoustic and electric prowess. A true band!!!
Their lead singer is the textbook definition of a Siren, her voice alone could drive men to jump into the swirling sea.
I agree! But wairosint has multiple members who sing
Hahaha the funniest comment 😂😂
Simp
typing as i jump :]
and women
I get the feeling that you could hand Stella a can of soup and a bag of frozen peas, and she would still make them sound fantastic.
Haha musical McGyver 😀
So true, Stella is awesome
So glad others see that. Amazing drummer.
That's funny but actually true
She could play a garbage can with some plastic straws on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts and sound amazing...
I already loved all these songs, but there's something refreshing about hearing them like this, live with acoustic guitars. And with buckets.
I just love Jenny's (bass player) energy she's brilliant and hot, been listening for several years, keep it up warpaint!
So in love with this acoustic-set! I haven't seen one performance by Warpaint that wasn't gorgeous. Such lovely gals, and I just adore them all! I'm in love. With all of them. Yes, I know, it's impossible. But true.
+Jakub Libner It's totally possible, man.
+Jakub Libner It's totally possible².
+Jakub Libner It is ;'D I am too haha
+Jakub Libner Get in line, buddy!
+Jakub Libner I love all of them too. They are so unique in their own ways.
Killer bass player
Love this band! So glad to hear there's a new album coming out in May 2022 !!
really ? checking as we don´t speak through time

I woulda guessed 17/8 in places. It is really weird. Sometimes the bass and drums are barely tied together.
Yes, very true!
Why didn't you say anything about the basslines?
@@msalperen1 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The basslines are so incredibly good!
+bookloaf Awesome Jenny Lee - that bassline in undertow with the slurry chords love it
i love the little improvisation at the end of love is to die
Wow. These acoustic versions showed me a complexity in this music that I hadn't noticed before. Yay.
Just discovering KEXP... You guys have excellent taste. Coming off age, very happy discovering what the new generation has to offer....
welcome...there's just....soooo much to take in.....
their voices live are perfect
I am honestly in love with these girls. such haunting and honest music, with that groovy back beat. I can't get enough.

Possibly one of the best performances I`ve found for Warpaint on TH-cam!!
love the bassist , the way she plays and the groove she makes!! awesome ....
. . . . . . Spanish flamenco influence
. . Touch . .
I had the same set of drums but I threw it away after I had the house painted!
Are you named after the lake?
Paisley Tom
You got it.It sounds funny and I like it.
Haha it's because of comments like this that I haven't given up on reading TH-cam comments yet
i have that set of drums too, but in the laundry room, and i put my dirty clothes in it
Almost sums up why I love this band soo much, using Paint-Tubs as Drums. I think considering their Band-Name they should start incorporating other paint-related objects into their music. Brushes next week……
Thank-you KEXP and the TH-cam algorithm, I love to discover talented bands. The backing vocals in Love is to Die really add a depth to the atmosphere.

I remember your myspace, and the 5 songs you picked as your portfolio. It was a whole new world to me in my adolescence. I am glad you are still there, going on.

- "How is everybody feeling?"
- "Well rested!/Tired!"
Every year (for years), every shroom season I come back and get hooked one this again. Love it. Today I bought a bass and came back just to learn to play bass like she does.

Really digging the use of plastic tubs as make shift drums.
The picture inside Theresa's guitar reminds me the painting "The Presistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali
It's 'Daddy Long Legs of the Evening - Hope!'

Beautiful
the bassline in keep it healthy is so good
These chicks rock out! That bassist has some super long fingers. She was destined to play a string instrument.
I was thinking about just the same!
Well Sagovia , Itzhak Perlman (one of the best violinists in the wold ) , Roy Clark, Danny Gatton , Phil Keaggy , B.B. King , Albert King . larry scheller You are right. But actually what I like about their music is the simplicity and I enjoy that mood..
larry scheller You could also be an advanced guitar player with great technique and never make a good tune in your entire life. Josiah George Ignore Larry's shits. He shits on a lot of female guitarists.. Annie Clark.. Jenny Lee..

Wow We are also an alternative-rock girl band, and you are such a big inspiration for us. Thank you so much for this amazing music!
This is an older performance I just got to but the discussion about Warpaint starting in 2004 and not recording until 2010ish (?) is sort of like The Beatles because they sort of had beginnings in 1957 with lineup changes and not releasing a proper album until 1963.
