wesley chu. i am absolutely in love with this video. im a current student at uts (class of 22~) and it's so odd seeing the school and its students nearly a decade ago. not only that, but the subject matter is so of it's time. this is your magnum opus (in my eyes at least).

Thanks for the kind words, it's definitely a flashback for me from a different time and place. I never expected anyone would be watching it a decade later. How did you even stumble upon it?
Honestly I don't even truly believe all the opinions I express in the video but for the sake of it being a school assignment it seemed cleaner and less complicated to have a hard stance on it.

@@stimpackedmarines i found it because your channel also has the trailer to show 2011, and i was looking for that since it's 10 year anniversary is around the corner. (let me know if you have other footage from ispy; it would be very cool to reintroduce it to the school)
the video's message, sincere or not, is amazingly presented, and i'm excited to do this project in s6 english next year!

Good documentary. Solid points and very engaging appeal to someone familiar with piracy.

I watched this in English class and couldn't help but point out to everyone that the song in the beginning is from Pure Pwnage!

7:47 Yes, it makes it right indeed. Such works are published, therefore public common goods. Copyright law which makes distribution without permission illegal is from the print era and regulated the book industry, where it was possible to trace illegal reprints back to the printer who didn't pay the publisher, so the author couldn't be payed for selling his manuscript (!). The law doesn't care about the investments of the publisher. With the general avaiability of digital technology, there's absolutely no way to control the flow of information after its publication, while the concepts of the pre-digital copyright law haven't changed in any way. Please consider "Steal This Film II", and "Copyright vs. Community" (latter by Richard Stallman), too.

thou old, i believe for the most part it captures the reasons ppl pirate, though there is a small point it missed. Sometimes there are products that u just cant get anymore e.g. old games, and the only way to do so is illegally through pirating.
A game that instantly comes to mind is 'Airfix Dogfighter' a game i loved as a kid but it is almost impossible to find anymore, however online it can be found easily and downloaded.
idk just thought id add put my 2cents in

Out of curiosity, what school and what subject? There are so many comments from different people about the same thing haha so I'm assuming you're all coming from the same place.

Personally I do it, because it's more convenient. I even buy games directly from steam, even though is more expensive than the physical copy, just because it's easier. But if it's a game i'm gonna play on my laptop at school, I download it illegally, because the school has blocked steam and opening in offline mode is a pain.
I might start buying music, once Google music gets to Europe(Denmark).
Buying a movie is too expensive, considering how many times you are gonna watch it. I want netflix!

Good video but did you secure the rights to use the music and actor's likeness? Don't forget all of the other Intellectual property rights that are infringed upon on a daily basis through sites like youtube and facebook. Well done though.

  • @comrade_pasta
    @comrade_pasta 11 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes but the issue with putting a key on a song would be that people who had purchased the key are now going to take the audio files, compress it and then torrent it. you have fixed nothing but making 1 person pay for it

haha, games became easier to pirate thanks to the hard work of those who crack and upload games. could the video game industry die from this?, no because some of us still go out and buy the games we really really like.

  • @alienbeliverearth

LOL. This is to funny I mean the part about the video games and software pffft...You never heard of Cracks Hacks and Keygens. These Video Game Companies over charge prices just as much as any music companies. This is why people like me find ways around video games and software keys and online activation. The thing is I have quite a bit of original games which I have paid to much for and making cracks so that fellow gamer don't have to go out and pay is just my way of contributing to I have no problem sharing my game that is what piracy is to me sharing not stealing. If my buddies does not have the money to buy COD4 I would like to give them the option of making a copy. Video Game Companies steal ideas from each other all the time just saying....
