Middle school is a transitional period it is for you to get ready and build habits for high school. So if you weren’t used to studying and taking things seriously before you might want to start now because this is not the kind of habit you want to take into high school with you or in life in general. Figure out your weak spots and find a way to fix them, ask questions, start figuring out what you like(clubs, sports, arts…), start to figure out what issue in the world fascinates and you are passionate about and start to do extra curricular a based on that if you are struggling to find something to do, if you are still struggling create your own. College applications are about you as a person than it is about just grades, your grades still need to be decent but it isn’t everything.
I’m a junior at Marvin and man, the pressure and stress we all feel is practically tangible so it’s nice to know that perfection isn’t what colleges are asking for. The essay tips were awesome! Thank you for this!

i’m heading toward the end of my sophomore year and i’m really nervous now because i’ll only be taking one AP next year (if i can’t get it changed which i may not be able to) and a couple honors classes. i play varsity and jv club rugby this year and i was in school cheer last year (but not this year). i plan on continuing rugby for the rest of highschool:) and am probably gonna be captain junior and senior year. i work a part time job. i’m at a really good high school in charlotte (providence high which you may know) but i’ve only taken honors classes so far, not APs but i really hope to step up my game soon and possibly do dual enrollment. i’m going up to 3 years in latin. i do not have much club experience at all atm (i was in latin club last year and it was basically nothing) but i really hope to do UNICEF and a medical club where you meet at the hospital every month, and some other things. senior year i want to get my CNA at a college during the summer. if i do all this and some more volunteer work, possibly dual enrollment and AP classes, do you think i have a chance? i’m in-state as well. also THANK YOU for making this video, i am in love with your YT channel. sorry this is so long❤️
i did not do as much as you have described and i still got in, its not all about your academics, they take everything into consideration like your essays. an admissions counselor told me that they accept around 50% of instate students that apply so me personally, i would say you have a pretty good chance at getting in with what you have so far, good luck!
The exact same thing happened to my daughter and we live in Hillsbororough, NC. I’m sorry you went through that. I know it was frustrating for my daughter. She had also applied to NC STATE UNIVERSITY. It’s the perfect college for her.
I have 135 people in my senior class and I'm in top 30% but it's a private school and it's really competitive (top 10% is 4.48 GPA+) and I got 33 ACT. Just based on that, do you think I could get in?

yea, some high school let you do dual enrollment so you can have your high school courses and college courses and graduate with your associates and your hs diploma.

Chapel hill is my dream school and I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get in. I am going into junior year, I want to get a undergrad in sports medicine and a masters in physical therapy. I have been figure skating for 7 years and I want to join unc's team too. I have been dancing for 2 years and have been involved in dance team at my school since freshman year and I am secretary of my national honors society of dance arts since freshman year also. I also play viola at school and I am in the honors class for both dance and orchestra. I have a GPA weighted 4.2 and unweighted 3.7. I take all honors and I took ap world freshman year but I got a B. I'm taking 3 aps this year and the rest honors. I also have my own small baking business and I have been dogsitting for 5 years. Do you have any recommendations on how I can better my chances?!

I got $0 in scholarships from UNC haha. I recommend applying for any that your school or community offers though!! I got a small one through my school! All of the little ones add up!!!
I got a full ride from UNC. 10,000 was just based of merit and the rest was a combination of merit/need. Keep your grades up, and if you actually need the scholarships, you’ll get them. For reference I had a 30 ACT (not super scored), 4.7/4.0 GPA, and a couple extracurriculars.
It depends a lot on your family's income. I got a full ride based mostly on that. My grades and extra-curric was all good, but very similar to the people in this video.

guys if you wanna get into UNC-Chapel Hill, you can go to east chapel hill high or chapel hill high and you can get AP classes at UNC btw if you are turkish there is a turkish house there that aziz sancar funds so it is a cheaper housing option and there is a big turkish-middle eastern-Muslim community

As someone who is in-state with a SAT score of a 1060....it’s very hard to get into, especially since they consider mostly people from the 10% category.
