I was accepted into UNC Chapel Hill. Never watched a video of what to do or how to do it. Didn't take any AP classes in high school didn't have great SAT nor family history at the university but still got in.

@@lakersin5260 i just had good grades and took a lot of classes. Got valedictorian miraculously somehow idk.... Maybe having 2 teaching jobs helped. They accepted my twin and I but I would've assumed a low SAT would disqualify me tho. Wasn't my intention to go to college right after hs.

@@mjs5922 what was your gpa btw? Unweighted and weighted. I’m a rising junior who in my sophomore year fucked my gpa with AP classes (went from a 3.8 to a 3.1) and I’m honestly not sure if there’s even a chance for me at this point

Enroll in a local community college. Apply for the C-STEP program. It allows you to get guaranteed acceptance to UNC as long as you maintain a 3.2 GPA while you earn your Associate's Degree.
This saved me. I would not have gotten into a well-ranked institution otherwise.

Do you apply to both C-step and common app to see if you get in as a first year student or not

@@Riko-mx5mbYou have to be enrolled in a community college to apply for C-STEP. Look up your local community colleges and see if they offer C-STEP. Most NC CCs do
You would enter UNC as a junior - like I am now! :)

If your high school doesn't allow students to skip to AP and honors classes that are only offered to juniors and seniors will colleges hold this against you? Also if your robotics team lowers your overall GPA since it is on a 4.00 scale will colleges also hold this against you? Thanks for your help

Well it's been 3 years so I assume you got this settled (I hope you got in!), but for other people who do wonder...
Stuff like this should go in the additional information tab. Clerly listing out these points, or even coming in and saying how you attempted to counter them (without being a Karen) only benefits your application.

What if you want to take a gap year after high school. Is there anything different that someone should be aware of when applying to colleges? What if someone can’t get letter of recommendations from teachers?

I took a gap year after high school. Then, I went to community college for 2 years, and got into UNC Chapel Hill as a junior transfer on the day that this video was uploaded.
