That thing is awesome. Few people realize, the smaller the car, the more fun to drive. And I love short wheel base cars because they’re inherently less stable, which makes them more fun to drive.
Very cool, sounds fantastic too. We used to run the Diahatsu 993cc 3 cylinder turbo in rally and race cars, sounded very similar: the race car was the best because there were fewer rules, so with unrestricted intake and exhaust it started boost about 1700 RPM, which was lovely. Looks like yours has the fun power to weight ratio thing going on, and with that sound it must be a hoot to drive without going stupid fast...
I had my SRC for 15 years did road trips, track days in Germany and did the same mod. So cool this car 🙌 Looking forward what else do you have in the pipeline
I am waiting for a manual swap on one of these cars before I buy one. The automated manual is too annoying for me. But I guess it needs a gearbox from a different car because of its 2x3 gear gearbox. So its not quite as easy as you would hope in an automated manual.
There are at least few already in the wild with manual gearbox paired with stock engine. Mitsubishi Colt/ Smart ForFour 1.1 3A91 engine has same gerbox bolt pattern and can be fitted. One builder used custom solid flywheel with 3A91 clutch to make it work. Don't know how others made it. There are wery small space for fitting well spaced three pedals but still doable. Biggest concern is you would have to move to aftermarket ECU to make engine work. And if you have some inspection like MOT in your country chances of passing it are close to zero because standalone ECU don't support OBD protocol. P.S. Just bought Roadster this week. Luckily here in Ukraine there are no inspections and many mods can be easily legallised. Looking forward for complete drivetrain swap and propper track usage.
Love the video, amazing to see automotive engineer using all the tricks they've learned on personal car, ist tut mir leid. Mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht
People think it's slower than it actually is. A proper mapping gets you 120bhp with great mid range torque and sorts the gearbox shifts. Then just adjust the clutch by reteaching it the drag point every 10k km and you're good to go, it's enough for this car
Please, could you make a video explaining clearly what you did to the exhaust? I also have a smart roadster and would like to make an economical upgrade to my exhaust
Sounds so cool, almost like a WRC car

Simple and clever changes make it even better
Love the Grave Digger shirt buddy 👍
The best!

Love the livery
Thanks for sharing. Enjoy watching your pet project.
We don't have those here in the US. I would like to drop in the 2276 Turbo engine & transmission from my 54' Beetle, that would be fun....

AWESOME sound!!! Really cool. Gretchenfrage: Gearshift?
Great job.
Congrats.
NOICE 😍
can you compare the sound with Triumph 765 RS as it's the most similar engine to what you have 😄

@@BSport320 akrapovic xhuast on rs3 inline 3 audi sound good, how come i dont hear a good inline 3 one anywhere online?

Sounds like the gear change has altered?
Could a 4 cylinder fit?
Yes, when the 3 cyl retires😉
BIKE SWAP
V4!
You can kinda even fit 2 of the 3 cylinder engines. Brabus, a German tuner, mated 2 of these engines together to form a biturbo v6@@BSport320
Probably, but that would ruin the wonderful 3-cylinder noise.
Nice mods
Are you not creating the possibility of the car starving all the oxygen out of the cabin as you drive?
👍💪✌
